they look a bit off indeed, but the cover of Use Your Illusion, albeit heavily altered, features a detail of Raphael's painting The School of Athens.
The cover of Daydream Nation is a work of a legit artist presented a few years earlier.

the painting was made before the album, but the band had the original artist add in the lawnmower to tie it into "i know what i like"
