Wrong flag, OP
What's some good greek music besides Aphrodite's child and its members
Yeah i know you posted the wrong flag you don't need to tell me
Tied I'd say. The italian singer-songwriter and folk pool is really huge and mostly full of talent. Lest we forget
>prog (PFM)
>jazz fusion (Arti e Mestieri)
>very active punk scene, both left and right wing
>italo dance (Gigi DAG is GOTY)
>breakbeat
>italo pop
>masters of blending prog and new wave (PFM and BMS)
>trap but it's just bad as a genre
>indie
>house
>chamber pop
>ENNIO MORRICONE
Metal is almost non-existent imo, people make up for it with a fuckton of Hardcore punk and alt-rock. Also, many artists like Genesis and Aphrodite's Child got kickstarted once they found appreciation on the italian market e.g. Watcher of the skies.
I think we're pretty lucky, even if you could say that most countries have a thriving musical scene, although not really famous or discussed. I just wish that there was more new mainstream rock.
Also Vasco Rossi made grunge before it was even a thing.
Wrong flag OP
I really like Greek folk. Το Νέο Κύμα 3 is a compilation album I picked up when I went there and it's really great.
You know that there can be more than just one country full of talent, right?
Disagree on the metal part. I don't know much about it and I don't know about the quality, but I remember a fuckton of italian metal bands being discussed both in /italian metal/ threads on here, and on italian discussions on rym. I only listened to Luca Turilli's Rhapsody (power metal band, pretty cool) as for now though.
Yeah, I meant that I was uninformed about it. I remember reading my father's Ciao 2001, 1985 issue, the one abouth Motorhead 10th anniversary with the subsequent all star concert. It called out a few bands like Vanadium and Death SS, but none of them really stuck with me. Rhapsody of Fire is comparatively recent, just like Lacuna Coil. I forgot to mention that a lot of post-hardcore and post-rock band play in Italy. Of course, the quality of their music varies, but all of them are eminently listenable like Massimo Volume, Marlene Kuntz (seriously, Catartica is like ATDI but better), Giardini di Mirò, Giardini di Chernobyl Il Teatro degli Orrori, Bluevertigo and many, many others. A lot of comedy rock too, and good one at that, in the sense that they provide actual musicianship. But, of course, you need a grasp on italian culture to fully get it.
Then there are musicians like Battiato who really dip their fingers in every genre of music, I guess you could say it's an experimental rock project, in the loosest sense. Check it out if you like world music, just don't mind the lyrics, it's literally gibberish. He's kinda like a tame, soft-spoken M. Gira. As you can see, there's a lot of stuff to deal with, and I'm not even mentioning older stuff with which I'm not very familiar.
Pic unrelated, just a national qt for interest.
Power and folk metal is what goes the most here, but it tends to be quite poppy, though there's a lot of extremely talented underground acts, such as Storm (o) and Marnero
> A lot of comedy rock too, and good one at that, in the sense that they provide actual musicianship
Pic related is one of my favourite albums ever. Made me laugh so hard I started crying. And it's overall a very good and listenable album, even if you're not in the mood for giggles.
And let's not forget Skiantos
Or that one Claudio Bisio album
I've noticed that most famous guitarists are Italians
>RAPPUT
thank God for oldschool Elio and based Bisio
Let's not forget that magical duet with that 3.14 qt Paola Cortellesi
>RAPPUT
thank God for oldschool Elio and based Bisio
I'm Italian and I don't listen to anything made here after 1900.
(expect Ennio Morricone of course, and CCCP)
Va bene Andrea Gerratana
I can't think of any good Irish bands actually.
UNA FACCIA UNA RAZZA
Think again
very weak and boring. with a typically edgy name.
>used to be the birthplace of art, philosophy and enlightenment, now insignificant cucks of the EU superstate
What a shame.
So, are you gonna go full contrarian just to prove you're right?
non capite un cazzo coglioni di merda (;
l'unico musicista contemporaneo italiano degno di essere chiamato tale è Frank Zappa.
I would like this if kevin used my vacuums.

Progenie Terrestre Pura is one of the best metal acts of this decade
>Vasco Rossi
LMAO
>No Fossati and Mango
Dropped
We are on an english board, speak english.
It's the second time I see this chart. Now you better explain why there's no 17 Re by Litfiba in the post punk section. That's rude.
>That's not funny bud
The only noteworthy spaghetti musician is giorgio moroder
am I colourblind or is this actually the Irish flag?
100% not correct

It all went to shit a few decades ago
nah, man. I see a bright future for italy. I mean bands like Ministri, Lo Stato Sociale o Calcutta could really bring italian music back to what it used to represent internationally.
Isn't Charlie Italo Disco?
I'm Italian and the only Italian music I regularly listen to is Italo Disco/Eurobeat
youtube.com
Musica per bambini, I Cani, Uochi Toki, i could go on and on with awesome stuff
And among commercial stuff, Max Gazzè is awesome
3/4 of that list is meme hipster shit, and you know it
Good nonetheless
il sorprendente album d'esordio dei cani is unironically one of the best italian albums of the last ten years
Mamma mia! Post Rock sure is a shitty genre!

Italian here, sorry but no international talent here from about 40 years and counting.
Thin Lizzy and MBV.
Iosonouncane
Bella lì
Can't we just make an updated Italian chart then? There are so many italian anons here that we might as well make a decent work.
I agree.
I would definitely put this ones:
Litfiba - 17 Re
>(wait for it...1:05)
Goblin - Profondo Rosso
PFM - Storia di un minuto
CCCP - Ortodossia I & II / Socialismo & Barbarie

Should I substitute something or just add them?
I added Ghali too because he's relevant in the mainstream, but i'm not really sure (i dont personally like him)
DIE is unironically great.
If I had to recommend a single recent Italian album that's what I'd say.
He's from my town, feelsgoodman
that seems a really nice chart
ignorante
who gives a shit for potato niggers
Uochi Toki > Ghali
Fuck I didn't see that you already added them, sorry
Are you seriously asking to Sup Forums why a commercial pop-rock artist literally loved by everyone is looked upon? It's just the same with Vasco, this board in general attempts to put more obscure artists in the spotlight avoiding popular stars.
Buon Compleanno Elvis is really good, honestly his only album that deserves a spot on a chart, but I don't know where we should put him.
Can't we make a Discord group with italian Sup Forumstants so we can make this in a more organized way?
We could put him in a pop, but i don't really know many good mainstream pop italian albums
What do you think of these?
Early Giorgia is the way
I'm really digging these so far.
I made a Discord channel for italian Sup Forumstants, join it here discord.gg
