Well, it's kinda odd, but easy once you get the hang of it.
First, consider the binary field, where the only elements are 0 and 1. So, I started off looking at that field.
Something I noticed was this: the smallest polynomial not solvable in the binary field is x^2+x+1=0. Obvious when you think about it. (x^2+x)=0 if you use 0 (0^2+0) and 0 if you use 1 (1^1+1) (of note here, 1+1 is 0 in the binary field). Anyways, I decided to see what would happen if I take the imaginary number approach and add an element b that solves this equation. b^2+b+1=0. Now, one important thing to note is that I wanted to keep a certain unique property of the binary field, that subtraction is the same adding (0-1=0+1=1, 1+1=1-1=0, ect.). So keep this in mind.
Rearranging b^2+b+1=0, we get b^2=b+1 (by add/subtracting b+1 to both sides. This means that b^3=b(b+1)=b^2+b=b+1+b=1, b^3=1. That basically solves all the adding, subtracting, multiplication, division, and such you need to know about with this new element. So, now we have a field with 4 elements: 0,1,b,b+1.
Pretty neat? I think so, but I'm diagnosed with autism. Anyways, here's what I'm trying to prove.
Consider the general polynomial sum from m=1 to n of ax^m=0, where a is either one or zero. In this set of polynomials, I have a conjecture. There exist some field, F, we generate from this polynomial which has 2^n elements, and it cycles through every possible sum of powers of x from 0 to m. I want to prove this.
I have a way of thinking about this with a puzzle instead of abstract algebra if it helps. Wanna give it a shot?

Fair enough. I reduced it down to logic puzzle involving necklaces and beads, trying to find a way to crack it, but it didn't help me crack it yet.
It's been a while since I've worked with groups, rings or fields but I'll ponder over how I would go about this proof. I'm curious as to your puzzle approach. Please elaborate.
