Nigger is derived from differents roots all meaning "black". The context in which it was used in is what gave power to the word. If there was no slavery embedded in black history, it would equal to wop chink mic etc which people scoff at and dont give a fuck about. Its a word. But African Americans still milk their victim complex in the current year. I'm not advocating to say it, i think its a horrid word in general and has no use. But when someone uses it in a fit of anger or frustration or as a joke as a replacemtn for another offensive noun don't start conspiring how this individual is a racialist. People naturally go for the worst word in their mind to offend something depending on their maturity or self control. Its a matter of class not racialism. Fuckin white niggers these days.
