sound the same to me too

t. 30 year old

It's just a black guy talking/shouting over a loop of digital percussion. There's only so much variety you can possibly have when your genre has such a limited definition. Not to mention most of the "artists" don't have any skillset outside of rapping and producing, meaning they couldn't push the genre forward even if they wanted to. People like Kanye are forced to bring in huge amounts of collaborators to make an album sound somewhat original.

It also doesn't help that white people face a lot of hostility trying to break into the industry. R&B is more accepting of women, whites, gays, etc. and the genre has been a lot more interesting over the last 5-7 years

look at

why does rock suddenly sound all the same to me?

hip hop is a genre of rock music though, so saying that is reinforcing his point

many newer MCs are using the same triplet flow as each other over very similar production. Not a lot of variety among the up and comers.

>hip-hip is a genre of rock
yep this is my favorite rock track
youtu.be/rLLFwka3Ofw

there's only 4 genres of music

rock
jazz
classical/art/academic
folk/traditional

>most of the "artists" don't have any skillset outside of rapping and producing
What the fuck am I reading

Yes for the first one, the second two depend on the ethics and education of the artist

...

what? their ethics? their fairly new DJ's

because it is the same shit all over again, stupid beats with heavy bass all the time and nigga voice. What made hiphop any good was how easily lyrics could tell a story but nowdays..I don't even know if you can call anything lyric anymore. Some niggas brabbing shit and try to change words to make them rhyme without any real context.

its just garbage music, is almost as bad as 90% of techno.

read this as "monkey made garbage"

they're intentions and philosophy

like, was that music made for an academic setting? Then it could be termed "classical" music or whatever term you want to use. If it was made for a commercial or local setting by un or semi-educated musicians then it's rock music. Genres are mostly useless, it's way more productive to think of music in terms of chronology and geography (that is, in terms of scenes or movements) then it is by genre

it was meant to be played for people to dance to.

formulaic trash made by morons for morons, no wonder why Sup Forums eats it up

...

because it's an artistically bankrupt genre pushed by (((((them))))) pic related

>implying this doesn't also apply to most popular music

true
