ITT: Post red flags that immediately signal that someone is a pleb

>they like music

>they have a radiohead, beatles, death grips, or pink floyd album in their top 3

>they don't understand the differences between jazz genres
>they don't know jazz has genres

"I like jazz"

>they arent deaf

>lyrics don't matter

>metal is bad

"I hate jazz"

>rap is good

they post cringe reddit seinfeld memes

And on the flipside
>they only analyse lyrics

They wear studio headphones outdoors.

>they browse Sup Forums

how new

>they don't like prog

I agree it's stupid to not acknowledge lyrics at all, but I feel as though if they are the focal point of music it diminishes the quality.

>tfw have Revolver and DSOTM in my top 10

>they only listen to rock or only listen to hip hop

They don't like the Carpenters.

>"what do you listen to"
>"i like everything"

>thinks listening to the most common jazz albums makes him superior to everyone else

...

>it's all been done before and better by everyone

or
>lyrics matter more than the music

They post here

>calls any pop music art

>Listens to rock
>Rap is trash

>Listens to Rap
>Rock is trash

>Listens to electronic
>All music genres are trash

Laughably incorrect.

All of these.

>"Why do you listen to this? You can't even understand what they're saying."

>what kind of music do you listen to ?
>depends on my mood

>falling for the "music is good" meme

>Falling for the "I am le ebin patrician who can't get caught dead actually enjoying music" meme

Which one of us is more sad?

This faggot actually enjoys music

Everybody laugh at him lmao

holy shit this guy fucking "likes music"

Autists i.t.t.

Dude lmao

t. autist who doesn't understand a joke

>he/she browses Sup Forums

Quints confirm

>they like 2pac

>thinks that Loveless is the best shoegaze album
>says that Genesis sucked after Peter Gabriel left
>is a Barrettfag
>thinks Grimes is in any way innovative
>thinks Aphex Twin is in any way innovative

I have pretty much no knowledge of electronic music, but I was under the impression Aphex Twin was very innovative.

he is
loveless is also the best shoegaze album, arguably the only one, genesis kinda did suck without Gabriel (phil collins solo work is better), Syd Barrett had immense talent even after he went off the deep end, Grimes i'm not sure about but she's well-known for something, and aphex twin is. come on he's aphex twin its like asking why sugar hill gang were innovative. rdj made house/edm big

He is, this board just likes to be contrarian cunts.

how have you narrowed shoegaze as a genre so that only one album fits the definition

plus souvlaki is better

>souvlaki is better

to you

>"how can you know the album is going to be shit, you haven't even listened to it yet?"

>they rarely listen to albums in full more than once
>majority of time spent listening to music are playlists of favorite songs

And me.

but what if you can't pick a specific thing even if your taste is developed

That's patrician though.

the most pleb thing is
>that album is shit even though I've never heard it

>pet sounds just like like doo wop!

>they think sloop john b is a bad song

>jazz
>smooth jazz
where's my patrician card

> they claim [whatever random pitchfork / nme flavor of the week hypeband] released aoty

> "what do you listen to, user?"
>begin to produce a 40 page analysis of all the genres, styles, and artists that you've (over the course of your entire lifetime) come to group together into the category of what exactly it is that you specifically "listen to"

The "i like everything" answer is a way for anyone not frothing autism at the mouth to keep their spaghetti contained.

>they only listen to obscure/core/ and hate popular bands...because they're popular.

related

> he can't make a harmonic analysis of the piece on the go

>owns a pair of AT-M50x headphones

>"Sloop John B is the best song on the album"
>"the instrumentals are filler"

>Folk is boring
People who say this have only listened to shitty American folk music and thinks there's nothing more to folk than Bob Dylan

Telling anyone they're "listening to music wrong" is pleb

>they can't stand classical music

This

>likes post-rock

>Frank Zappa was a great musician who transcended rock
>They pay for digital media
>Meticulously maintained last.fm/rateyourmusic profile

you actually enjoy music? fucking pathetic

>souvlaki is better

Why people who don't like music go to Sup Forums?

>having a top 3 anything

not me

Lyrics don't matter in terms of semantics. They only matter in terms of how the meter, word choice, rhyme, intonation, flow, accent etc. complement the song. For example, you can easily judge a song's lyrics even if it's in a language you don't understand.

yeah they do dumbfuck

>wearing band tees
>trying to start a band
>liking bands

No they don't.

I don't consider myself a Radiohead fan at all but Kid A is one of the best albums ever made

so you mean to say saying random words, sentences that make no sense, is akin to carefully constructed lyrics as long as it sounds nice?

wot u sayin luv?

OKC and IR are both far better than Kid A. Kid A is just a way of detecting plebs by seeing if they call it 'experimental'

t. autist that doesn't pick up on his unfunny autist joke being unfunny

What the fuck are you on about?
>Semantics : the branch of linguistics and logic concerned with meaning. So you´re saying that lyrics don't actually mean anything As long as the complement the song...

>they unironically enjoy harsh vocals

Pleb detected. You can't just ignore part of a piece of art and pretend you fully appreciate that art.

>loveless isnt the best shoegaze album
contrarian detected

The lyrics should be regarded in isolation to the actual piece. Meaningful lyrics are not part of the music making process. They're a different art form on top of it.

Correct.

Correct.

>implying there's anything wrong with death grips

>can't play an instrument
>posts their opinions about music on the internet

...

>75210191
there's nothing wrong with seinfeld, pleberino

>they think the beatles are "the greatest or most significant or most influential" rock band ever

this.

>if asked what music they listen to, they can't immediately name at least 10 bands and/or solo musicians that they like
>will conveniently "forget" to mention some of their favorite artists if they think it will make them look uncool

>Oh yeah, I like classical music!
Lists contemporary instrumental, film scores and fucking Einaudi.

Thinks modern-era classical is better than baroque.

That's not true of all genres. I don't listen to anything progressive/technical for the lyrics, it's about musicianship. Lyrics are just filler.

Plus, it's wayyyyy harder to write good music than good lyrics. That shit is easy.

>having strong opinions on karajan
>who is van cliburn
>muh lisitsa
>strauss yes, metamorphosen no
>calling mozart a genius (though true)
>not getting gubaidulina

How fag of you to get in a music board and proclaim that you like music. Maybe try liking not-music instead next time, buddy.

>Metal is good

oh and also:
>wagner is a little heavy

>paid more than $2 for an old record
