No.

1. Les Claypool (Primus)
2. Jack Bruce (Cream)
3. Jah Wobble (Public Image Ltd)
4. Tony Levin (King Crimson)
5. Melvin Gibbs (Rollins Band, Arto Lindsay)
6. Michael "Flea" Balzary (Red Hot Chili Peppers)
7. Tony Maimone (Pere Ubu)
8. Bill Laswell (Material)
9. Fred Chalenor (Caveman Shoestore, Tone Dogs)
10. Colin Hodgkinson (Back Door)

>1. Les Claypool (Primus)
claypool is awesome but not quite the universal bassist. Any person recording a song will take flea before claypool. there's a reason why flea played on so much hits
>2. Jack Bruce (Cream)
I know he used to play with tony williams but nah... not even close babyyyy
>4. Tony Levin (King Crimson)
Le Stick Bass XD

>claypool is awesome but not quite the universal bassist
>claypool isn't the best because I say so

seriously? that's the best you come up with? pathetic

>Le I'm too contrarian to list Geddy Lee in my top 10
Unironically neck yourself my man, no one thinks you're cool

He's right. Claypool is awesome, but he's nowhere close to being the best of the best. Just not dynamic enough. Too wonky.

Not the first name that comes to mind when I think of Rock Bassists, but he's literally the greatest of all time, so i'll give him the spot.

The Ox

There's also a distinct lack of Paul McCartney, who while not technically fantastic has an incredible ear for how the bass should sound.

>no Chris Squire
just dropped

agreed but i don't consider a rock msucian

I mean, he was The Ox's replacement, that's gotta count for something.

He's just the goat session bassist so he fits with anything really... his best work is with d'angelo and he's more known as the king of laid back bass playing as well as a melodic fretless player... doesn't really have the roughness as someones like flea or the bassist from RATM so he's not really a rock musician. he's better lmao

this.

I consider Macca to be more pop that rock. If we're going *that* direction, where the fuck is James Jamerson?

>forgetting about this guy

...

Flea is just a plebian's Mike Wat

Wheres john entwhislte.

This

this man is

Moon had a house right next to me. First week he moved in i got a rock in my window. Then he left. Dont think he ever came back to that house again.

Yeah, fair enough. That said, Geezer Butler shouldn't take this long to appear. Or Greg Lake.

I quite enjoy Waters, but he didn't really revolutionize anything.

Underrated as hell

great vocals

Add in Mike Watt and you got a deal

Peter Hook

Mah nigga.' Someone with taste.

lol @ all these niggas
scaruffi.com/music/bass.html

checked, digits confirm Chris Squire is the #1 rock bassist

props to Scaruffi for putting Joe Lally and Rockette Morton in the second list at least, both are hugely underappreciated bassists

sandman turns in his grave

Yeah I mean whatever I'm just not that bothered
