Only just started back into black metal, but I've been listening to some Misþyrming and Krohm lately
been going through opium-hum on blogspot and downloading random shit, trying to go see WITTR next month
will it ever get cold enough to enjoy nbbmn though
I like black metal and I love doom metal. Do you have any recs for me?
Creeping - Revenant
Cheers, dude
BM sharethread from last year:
rbt.asia

bump

This chart has a lot of good recs, I'd say Ash Borer would be a good starting place
...
are havukruunu good enough for nbbmn?
dryad.bandcamp.com
thanks! gonna check it out
Good share amigo
A while ago Youtube gave me some really atmospheric and drone-y black metal that sounded like the world had already ended. The music was really drawn out and the vocals (I think they were female vocals) sounded like very, very distant. The production was really good as well. Unfortunately I haven't been able to find it. I'm not even into (black) metal so I don't even know where to start looking.
Does any of that sound familiar to you? I think there could be an "ash" either in the band name or an album name.
>Showing 1 to 68 of 68 entries
Well, fuck.
>sounds pretty gay
NO U
Nope. I can't seem to find anything that jumps out to me. And with this ends my journey into black metal.
this shit maybe? youtube.com
also
>I'm not even into metal
go listen to the black sabbath discography right now you won't regret it
the only "ash" band i recall hearing about is Ash Borer but i have no idea what they sound like..
Drone-y [x]
Atmospheric [x]
Black Metal [ ] (although it's been called blackgaze)
Sounds like the world has ended [x]
Drawn out [x?] not quite sure if i understand what you mean, i'm retarded
Distant vocals [x]
Nah, that's not it.
>go listen to the black sabbath discography right now you won't regret it
B-but I don't like the sound of electric guitars, user.
Oh shit, I think that's it!
Thank you so much, user!
>B-but I don't like the sound of electric guitars, user.
you'll learn to love it
>Oh shit, I think that's it!
it was fucking wsws? I mean it's a solid album but it's only arguably metal and definitly not black metal
>you'll learn to love it
I've been telling me that for 15 years now and so far it hasn't worked.
>I mean it's a solid album but it's only arguably metal and definitly not black metal
>implying I even know what defines black metal
I also listened to it two years ago and that was all I could remember. Although it was enough to be found by you. So thanks! I will now go listen to all of it.
>implying I even know what defines black metal
that's (newfriend friendly) black metal
youtube.com
notice the tremolo picking and overall cold atmosphere
>tremolo picking
Okay.
>overall cold atmosphere
You mean it sounds as if it was recorded in a tin can with holes in it? Because that is what I really don't like when it comes to black metal. I know there are lots of people who love exactly that but it just isn't for me. I'm not a fan of music with as much higher frequencies.
user you replied to wasn't the one who found it, but you're most welcome ! it's one of my top 5 favourites of all time, it's so good.
and yeah it's not black metal but literally who cares about genres. what matters is if you like it or not
I think they do matter somewhat if only for communication. But anyway, it worked and now I've rediscovered them. Thank you, user!
>You mean it sounds as if it was recorded in a tin can with holes in it?
well yeah it's lo-fi, but that's only a small part of what makes it sound cold
I understand that you don't like it, the lo-finess put me off for a long time as well
there's black metal with better production out there, but I'm too lazy to rec stuff, another user probably will do it
UK Fag?
there's alot of different styles of black metal. This album was my entry point to the genre as a whole, probably because it's not very "harsh" and easy to listen to.
youtube.com
Tried Blackened Doom?
Mizmor
Primitive Man
Dead Women's Ditch
Ashtar
Morast
I'm more into that nice mix of sludge and post-metal that was once called "atmospheric sludge".
The few things in my collection I consider as black metal which I like are things like
>Nocte Obducta
>Fjoergyn
>Endstille
>Shining
And that's probably it. Also thing like Alcest and Les Discrets, but I guess those aren't really black metal.
Coffinworm
Ancst
Young and in the Way
Ashtar my man.
see
Listen to Nortt if you haven't already.
If this was recorded with less guitars I'd like it.
But then again, it would be more akin to martial industrial then.
well they go less and less guitars by each release pretty much
This is too video game / fantasy flic for my taste.
fair enough, the lyrics are in black speech of mordor
Can anyone help me identify what albums these are?
...
thanks
ITT: tourism
Aren't we all but tourist in this passing world, user?
Anyone listening to any black metal tonight?
Last NBBMN I listened too Graveland's entire discography. Immortal Pride will always be my favorite, but Creed of Iron is great as well.
that pic
who else sees the face in the middle?
this one?
some real good NSBM
got it
spooky
can i get more like the output from crepusculo negro and volahn specifically... or like this youtube.com
What are those five cassettes with indistinct grainy black covers that keep getting posted in /metal/? Is it a meme like the Grifter? A few people have asked for them but they never get responses.
>A Bundle of Sticks
>cigarette
>menial chores
apparently they actually exist, someone has linked me to a Metal Archives page before but the names were entirely ungoogleable. figure they're probably some raw black metal demos, nothing special.
I guess I'll share some of the albums I've piled up for NBBMN
