I couldn't even play rfactor because of its graphics. Not even being a graphics whore, I can't see where the fuck I am. Everything is basically the same color. But mechanics wise, rfactor is developped by the people who developped F1 sims. Tires have some kind of finite element analysis. Weapons grade autism. Assetto Cors has perfect tracks. Whenever you hit a tiny imperfection, it's there IRL too. But it's not a deciding factor as rfactor is moddable.
Never had console, I don't know. But those have no sim value and Assetto Corsa has no gameplay elements.
Best simulation is Dirt Rally IMO. I learned how to drive on snowy stages after taking my own car to snow with summer tires. Others might be better or worse, but Dirt Rally is closest to real life driving. Roads are pretty realistically modeled too. This is Col de Turini.

If you have a wheel, don't bother. I couldn't even set the FFB right so I can't get any kind of feedback. Plus seeing the driver shake the wheel while mine being solid kills the experience for me. But it's playable, has gameplay elements and AI that doesn't want to kill you.
Also I was faster than IRL drivers when I tried Clio Cup. I have doubts about its simulation value. Default FFB is set as if you're driving a truck with no power steering

Breaking into the top 30 was only possible on GT5:Prologue's London Reverse because of this, the steering inputs were perfect for controllers, especially anything that would oversteer wildly in 3rd gear like the Ford GT LM

I don't know why isi dropped it neither do I know if the new guys are as dedicated to the simulation accuracy, but at least they appear to be actually doing something instead of trying to go for the world's slowest developer record. You just need to git gud. Smooth and precise. Besides, when you fuck up and oversteer, you will immediately feel it in your hands, car would want to countersteer by itself. But if you let the car countersteer, it will overcorrect and you will spin. Having any kind of precision is very hard with a controller, your only feedback is sounds and camera shake. I could feel every single bump with Dirt Rally. Feeling the wheel go very light when you're on a crest, approaching a tight corner, over 220km/h is really tense.
I heard it's the same for the pcars too. Can't be sure.
