I never watched this movie, since I don't generally watch films that celebrate me being murdered.
However if they showed that, it's pretty commendable that they did. And yes it is true. The Allied Nations were and still are really awful to the German people.
Very good production values and scene setting for the Normandy landings and the body count seen, but things like shooting a sniper through his own telescopic sight are ridiculous.

Nothing but kicking in the door of an already beaten enemy.
The only good things about this movie is the autistic attention to detail with kit and vehicles, but the way both armies tactically is pure fantasy.
Examples include. The Tiger tank continuing to advance forward towards the shermans it could have just stood stationary.
Also the movie seems to forget the Waffen SS troops at the end of the movie are armed with Panzerfausts (despite establishing how dangerous they are at the start of the movie and then showing guys in the SS column carrying them).
The soundtrack was decent tho.
