Ask a video games tester anything.
Ask a video games tester anything
Why do you jerk off to traps so much
Are you bored of shitty games?
would you leave some pussy for the rest of us?
Unrelated, I'm not obligated to answer,
Yes.
No.
That's weird...i swear i heard op is a faggot
How hard do game companies pay off review boards like IGN to make good reviews
Also do you work as a game tester for a outsourced third party company? Or one of the big AAA companies?
Op what's the weirdest shit to happen while testing
> implying I love dick
> implying I am offended by anons thousands of miles away.
>anything
>unrelated
nigga wat
this.
I'm not sure about IGN etc, we have no direct contact with them.
I am an outsourced 3rd party, as I believe most are. We do however test AAA titles. (DX:MD, FFXV)
how does one go about getting one of these jobs?
I love dick.
Kek
>asking the real questions
Get lucky. Our only two offices in the UK are London and Glasgow.
are you testing for whether it's a good game or whether it won't break at the edge of the map and other standard QA stuff
WDYM by offices, what offices? "recruitment" offices?
Look for job postings, the best way it to know people in the industry though/go to industry events
That's how I got my job
Having an understanding of game development/programming helps
I see. And i understand the whole understanding game dev shit too cause itd be retarded to get thi dreamer making request that arent possible for the hardware
QA Localisation.
Offices where we go to work.
I got into this by simply replying to a job advert, no programming experience etc.
Not OP, but the testing I do consists of both genetic bugs like that but it is mainly testing new features to make sure they are working as intended and wont break other aspects of the game.
The worst is testing the data collection systems as they spit out thousand line logs that you then need to sift through
It isn't required, but I got my position over other candidates because of it
So you do What do you work as?
How often you test games with no textures and with the initial stand-in geometry in place? Do you do lot of repetitive work such as testing collisions and borders?
Any AI work? It's not like there's training/test data
whats your opinion on the EA/BFII crap?
YES! FFXV is a prime example. I tested it from the first build, and it was a piece of buggy laggy shit. Pushing the car used to crash the game.
No AI work, that was left to the Devs.
Microtransactions can get to fuck.
Quality Assurance and Data Analyst
Sexy, I'm QA/Localisation.
Fuck off Alan
What are the best and worst games youth played (testing or not). Also, what is your opinion on the Dark Souls series and Bloodborne if you have any
youve*
Suck a dick James
That must suck. It's probably interesting for the first run but after that you slowl corrode your brain.
Also, it tells about the project management and development how quickly they get the basic mechanics together. I suppose the game stays in that basic grey and color coded form in a long time until from the last crunch they start to get their shit together.
I'm not actually sure at which point the textures and shaders etc come to play. I suppose it might even distract from the pure mechanical testing.
Right?
Probably the best games I've played in testing are the Dragon Quest games.Really good debug features. Haven't played dark soulds properly so can't comment..
WRONG.
and the worst?
how to review game any tips?
I'm working directly for the company who is producing the game, so there is only the one in this job (Also it isn't out yet so I can't talk about it).
The games you mentioned are fun and have a ton of love/care put into them. I just wish I had more free time so I could bash my head on that wall some more.
Play a lot of them and have an understanding of how they work. Get good at writing/presenting yourself.
whos who?
Yeah I mean it's not as bad for me, because I don't test the viability of certain features, I just test the language used, It's still pretty shite though when you're trying to test an area of the game that isn't mechanically viable yet.
Do you ever get triggered playing glitchy unpolished games?
(OP)
(Not OP)
FFXV, piece of shit, don't buy it.
Let's kick some ICE
what makes a good game?
YES. FFXV prime example. Glitchy piece of shit, including the expansions and multiplayer haha
(Not OP)
I don't mind it
Sometimes hilarious things can happen.
Sometimes it can get tedious, but that is why we can request debug features.
Dude, it's Sup Forums. Spill it all. I am. I could lose my job for this.
>implying youre not an newfag trollbait
Nah, I like my job
