Yes...

Yes, she's right! I'm a bartender and I personally spit in your drink if you don't tip and you come back for another drink.

Tip or stay the fuck home.

i'll tip her a 20 if she's sucks in dick in the parking lot

fpbp

I think the whole concept of tipping is a scam. Just an excuse for companies not to pay their employees.
It's a terrible system.

That being said, it's the system we have. If you don't tip you're an asshole.

wouldn't even get out of bed for $2.13/h

This. Why the fuck do they even work there?

Maybe it is a lack of options

Because with tips you can go home with like $200 dollars a night.

This thread always comes up, and the issue is simple. Tipping *should* be optional - to pay for exceptional (and I mean exceptional) service. This is how it works everywhere else in the world except America. But here, there is the cultural assumption that tips are mandatory, so you *should* tip. But if you have something that is culturally mandatory, but not legally mandatory, what are you going to do if people don't tip? Nothing. It's a fucking stupid system, but if you're not an asshole, then you should tip.

after her post she'll be making 17 bucks a night minus tax

Here's a thought. Get a job where you're gainfully employed so I don't have to support you. Also you hand me a beer that's your job.

en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tipped_wage_in_the_United_States
“Federal law - The American federal government requires a wage of at least $2.13 per hour be paid to employees that receive at least $30 per month in tips. If wages and tips do not equal the federal minimum wage of $7.25 per hour during any week, the employer is required to increase cash wages to compensate.“
dol.gov/whd/regs/compliance/hrg.htm

By law, they get paid minimum wage regardless of tips, so fuck off.

wouldn't it be cool if the cost of your meal reflected how much you had to pay, and instead of being expected to tip, you would only tip if someone performed admirably as wait staff?

then you wouldn't even have to have the debate about not tipping because everyone knows exactly how much everyone is spending and earning, and there's no longer an element of obligation beyond the cost of the meal.

Here's my strategy in greentext form

>Order
>Tip
>Order again
>Tip
>Order another drink
>Bartender is now giving me doubles on single orders
>Tip

The trick is to not be a broke nigger tagging along with other people trying to make a night out of $40

>buying drinks at a bar in current year

pro tip dude just bring ur drug of choice with u and slam it in the bathroom

The service industry is complete Shit. They complain about making 2 dollars an hour but walk home with over a hundred dollars a night and spend half of it on liquor, weed, and blow with their coworkers then just get up to do it again and again and again wondering 'hmm, why am I not making as much as everybody else?'. Working in the service industry is a very, very drug fueled party lifestyle. I haven't met a waitress, bartender, valet, or housekeeper that isn't addicted to something or doesn't know where I can find almost any drug I'm looking for or where its going down that night.

I understand the wait staff tipping debate, I never understood the argument to automatically tip a bartender. At least around here bartenders make over the minimum wage. Most are at least $12/hr. I'll tip if they give really good service, but if they start demanding tips like servers I'll stop ordering drinks at the bar and just get a table.

I never tip. But I don't drink. I just mean when I go to restaurants or order a pizza, I never tip. If they don't like their job, they can quit.

Is there really countries shit enough to expect tipping?
Or people willing to work for less than minimum wage?

'Merica

Maybe get a better job

America

When I worked in the service industry (for around 10 years, starting as a waiter, ending as a head chef) I never took any drugs, maybe some weed after my shift or on a free day. Working was my drug. I did 14 hour shifts and I loved it. Then again, I never worked in the states and the salary was not to bad for a job you could do without getting proper training. I quit because I wanted to go to university (which didn't work out, but that's another story).
tl;dr: Not every one is taking drugs.

No you don't.

That means starving for a few weeks for some people. They should at least get minimum wage, then we wouldn't be expected to tip them.

I've worked in the industry. There are some very good people I'm it that are responsible and don't live for the party scene. When I worked with them they actually did very well and made a ton in tips. The ones that were in it to make parting money usually did a half assed job and were of course the vocal group that bitched about horrible tips. I think the problem with the service industry is it attracts a very young work force. The same group of people that don't take most jobs serious. I only met 1 person when I was working that was under 25 and any good. Most of the best servers were all 30 or older.

Even tipped employees must get federal or state minimum wage by law - you can be a shitty server screeching “REEEEEEE” and letting your autistic monster flag fly, and STILL make minimum wage because by law your employer has to ensure it.
Doesn’t stop you from getting fired though by being an absolute social fuckup who no one likes and drove business away.

>did weed after work
>not everyone is taking drug

Look at me! I deserve $200 for pouring alcohol in a glass!

Here's a tip:

If your livelihood depends on tips, get a better job.

They will complain about the low hourly rate, but they take the job because they can make a ton in tips. And if the tips are cash and not left on a card they don't have to report them all for taxes. I knew servers that regularly took hundreds of dollars in tips a shift.

how much to spit on my face, out back?

This nigga knows.

That's the part they neglect to bring up. If they are a shitty server and don't get enough tips to make the minimum the employer has to kick in the difference to bump them up. They are bitching because they didn't want a minimum wage job, they heard about servers making mad money in tips, didn't understand that requires hard work and decide to bitch instead.

Actually it's if your livelihood depends on tips, make sure you do a good enough job to earn them.

This is why if I tip, I use my card to do it. It forces it to be declared on their taxes that way if the employer is legit and records the tipped transactions like he is supposed to.
Most do, because they don’t want to pay taxes on the increased income otherwise.

Which is nothing

Aussie here. Waiters and waitresses have poles up their ass. I went to the US and didn't know tipping was expected. I had breakfast at a diner which was pancakes and a blueberry muffin with a coffee $15 in total and I paid in advance at the counter giving her $20 and told her to keep the change. When the waiter came she greeted me and gave me my breakfast and coffee... after I finished she asked me if I wanted a free coffee refill and I said yes so she filled me up then she tells my my bills $22, $15 and $7 tip.. i look at her and told her I paid in advance with $20 and told the lady to keep the change then she tells me that's fine then the extra coffee she poured for me is now an extra $4 so at that point I got up to leave and she held me back telling me I have to pay... some wannabe hero faggot came up and held me and called the cops... cops come, I show my receipt and end up paying another $4 for the coffee and getting a warning from the sheriff.

Yeah nah go fuck yourselves cunts

Nobody hears about servers making good money and decide to be a server. You're thinking of doctor, lawyer or even engineer, not server

$200 / 8 hours = $25 per hour
Compared to other unskilled labor, it's pretty damn good.

Where did you visit?

never understood this tipping shit, alright, your salary sucks but why do i have to pay you if you can't find a better job. i earn 200 fucking bucks a month and no one gives me any fucking tips

Just like yourself and waiters most poor people are angry and bitter and take it out on strangers instead of themselves which is one of many reasons why they're poor to begin with.

You make $2.13 an hour because of exploitative labor practices. Want to blame somebody, wage slave? Blame your cheap-ass employer. You're doing nigger work anyway.

Stfu and make me a drink man servant

Because we've all fallen for the meme and people are guilted into tipping. What ends up happening is the servers making double what the cooks do.

So people that bring you food and work half the hours take home more money, tax free.

I fucking hate servers.

if they make under minimal wage, they are required by the goverment of the united states to receive pay offsetting them back to minimal wage.

the fact remains thats the only reason to heavily bitch about tips is if you are wanting more than minimal wage, in the case, work another job, or you just want to get money right away, or in a method that you can skim a bit to claim you made less.

notice i said get a higher paying job, not get an education. when I was putting myself through school, I wanted more than I was making from working at a burger chain, so instead I applied and worked a stresfull job at a call center. I went from making 8 usd an hour to 13.25 usd an hour.

if you dont love working stressful jobs, gain mastery of something you do want to do, be it from education or some other method and then work on whats called, you know, a career.

nothing in life is easy.

Neverland - because it never happened.

Dude, i make 90€ a day as a programmer in Belgium. What kind of glue are you sniffing to think that 200$ is nothing.
Your houses are dirt cheap yet your pay is huge. Over here a decent home is 200k, you could also buy a 100k 100 year old house with a broken roof

For people without a college education, people looking for a part time job, or for young people they hear about the tips or think about how much they leave in tips and think they its a lot of easy money.

Spent money from tips on BTC and still work for $16/hr as a millionaire. Keep on tipping, faggots.

And its the most wishy washy pay ever because they aren't going to make that everyday let alone every week there are slow periods
I make $42 p/h before ot working on average 8-12 hours ot at a job that required a ged or higher so I dont see the excuse of waiters unless it's at a 5 star restaurant.
I only know one person that works at one but he makes $16 p/h +tips at a restaurant were the average price per plate is ~$120.
Of you aren't working in a resrurant like that Wtf are you doing.

...

there is a big difference between smoking a joint after work or being coked up all the time.

you americans and your absolutely retarded system of tipping make me shake my head every time. Why the fuck should I pay your bills, its your bosses obligation to pay you. Not mine. Get yourself a job that pays decently. Or move to a country with less retardation in its working system.

if you only make $2.13 an hour and rely on tips, then stay the fuck home.

youtube.com/watch?v=dPsC60eLpxE

nobody working for tips can afford to do coke all the time

lol clearly you aren't a bartender, all bar areas are to be seen and open by customers and all the beer and shots are obviously at the bar right there.
Food maybe, but you can say that about anywhere.
This is now a failed bait thread

90€ a day.

8 hr work days.

11.25€ an hour.

That's like 12 or 13 USD an hour. You can make that in the states working fast fod. You need to demand a raise.

Imagine reading this while being a eurofag.
Tips are given only when you want to tip(mostly praising the good attitude and service).

>did weed after work
>not everyone is drugged up

Part of why I rarely go places where tips are expected is because I don't want to pay a forced tip. It's a terrible system that I do not want to support, but I will be made to feel guilty upon doing it and perhaps will experience worse service should I go there again.

Pathetic that anyone defends this system. Demand real pay from employers and do away with the tipping based pay system and the customer expectations that come with it. If not, then fuck off and stop being a pissy fuck if I choose not to pay. But since I know neither of those will happen, I simply stay away.

You have never been in Belgium, my boss pays roughly 40 bucks but 66.66% go to taxes immediately.
Fuck socialism

This guy gets it.

Imagine being this retarded.

>feels guilty
>scared of bad service like he’s someone special enough to remember outside of the hundreds of people they serve a week
Stop being a delusional faggot - no one is going to remember you unless you’re a screeching autist like normal.

>I know what I'm talking about guise wikipedia says so
You fuck off, autist.

What about cutting logs? Logs don't pay tips.
You know he'll come

I hope robots come and take away your jobs entitled fucking cunts.

depends where you live I guess.

Or a regular at a restaurant/bar?

Get a real job you fucking parasite. I could train a monkey to pour drinks and tip it with bananas. You probably get your recipes off a phone app, you worthless shit.

2/10 try harder.

If I get tipped a dollar I don't care, the tips average out anyways. I still get to go home with a good 150

You signed up for 2.13 an hour. You deserve that. If you give me average tier drinks from refilled bottles you get no tip and if one of my dudes sees you spit on a glass you'll earn 0.00 an hour because I only go to clubs I know the owner of.

To all the people who don't follow the above - Git gud.

>Imagine trying to refute someone without anything but ad homenim

I used it because of retards like you not knowing how to read government websites and laws.
Retarded faggot.

Homenim ay

making it the customers responsibility to make sure your personell is well paid is the smartest thing a bussiness has ever done

Everyone past 20 years old working service industry in America is on drugs. I guarantee it.

why wont u show us your identification document and say where u work, so that we can let your employer know what u r doing, then?
if u dont like earning 2$/h, stop working there

I think you meant the netherlands, retard, learn to spell

Who cares?
They give poor service - complain to management or if they fuck with your food/drink that’s a crime and get the police involved.
I’m not their fucking personal charity dispenser - they go fetch the food like a good nigger and bring it to me - even a dog can play fetch.

Castrate yourself before your stupidity can be spread.

Never understood the point of tipping a bartender. I've never seen that happen in England. It's not like they're doing a fucking difficult job. If they don't like their pay, fucking go back to school and get a better job don't expect a customer to pay you for pouring a fucking drink

which is fine in theory, but the second it looks like you're not making enough in tips so the restaurant will have to make up the difference, the server is getting fired.

...

Fuck off fag. I'm an Uber driver and pick up so many bartenders to bring thier asses home on Friday and Saturday nights and they NEVER tip. Go kys you hippocrite scum.

Tipping because you want to praise their great service, that's ethical.
Seconding this.

Canda has tips tacted onto the bill.

former delivery driver here.

The only thing worse than people who don't tip are people who complain about people who don't tip on social media. Bitching at assholes will not make them nice people.

"Because with guilt-charity, I can sometimes make money.".

Fuck off and get a real job.

get a real job, loser

yeah it's not like the uber app says you never have to tip your driver or anything.

server here.... fuckin right.

Some people do actually tip for good service and/or just because they want to be nice.

fun fact: by federal law you have to be told this information ,its usually in that big packet of stuff they give you that you dont read, and sign a document saying you have read it. it is also required to be posted in your place of business in a well traveled area, generally around where all the OSHA stuff

i wouldnt expect a dropout who has to resort to working in the food industry to know how to read tho

Tips arnt mandatory though.. its just polite

Not sure what it's like over there in America, but in the UK tipping is entirely optional and reflects on if you had exceptional service.

Tipping should act as a motivation for staff to perform beyond what they are paid for.

Any other system is just insane and makes absolutely zero sense.
