Could a woman with god-tier genetics that had been trained in the art of the knuckleball from childhood become a pitcher in the MLB?

Is that the best chance for a woman being in any pro sport?

No. Because she'd be competing with men with god-tier genetics who had been training since childhood.
No woman will ever be able to compete in a men's athletic league in any capacity. It's biologically impossible.

What did they mean by this?

>Could a woman with god-tier genetics that had been trained in the art of the knuckleball from childhood
>you are now imagining a world in which Serena Williams's father insisted that she become the world's best female baseball pitcher instead of a tennis pro

women can't even be competitive against high schoolers let alone grown men

nice r/askreddit steal

>a leaf

I mean in the MLB in the current meta

>female knuckleball pitcher in the big leagues
>for a NL team
>has to bat against the world's best pitchers
I would pay to see this

Fuck women, that's what they're there for.

If the woman was exceptionally strong and tall for a woman, then I think she could become a relief pitcher or closer in MLB. She would definitely be a meme pitch pitcher though, like Tim Wakefield only with tits.

Maybe, but there hasn't been one - despite trying - to even make it to affiliated ball. There was a Japanese girl who pitched out west a few years back, but she wasn't particularly effective.

two friends of mine couldn't make it out of single-a ball
they were incredibly good baseball players and all-around star athletes. pick-up basketball, football, they would crush it
a female would never make it in the minors on her own merits.

Potentially, yes. I know pitching has a strong physical element, but there are plenty of guys with the genetics and the practice that end up not cutting it, which leaves a lot to skill. If she's genuinely talented, sure. I'd be curious to see how long she'd last before she needed a tommy john though.

On top of being generally weaker than men, women are especially weak in the shoulder in comparison. A woman wouldn't last a season throwing overhand.

Throwing a knuckleball over 70mph is a lot harder mechanically than throwing a fastball 90mph

No because catchers hate knuckleballs

>Knuckleballer
>God tier genetics

This.

For some reason people think throwing a knuckleball is easy.

its very hard, but there's a reason people in their 50s have done it successfully at the major league level. It doesn't require the raw explosiveness that other techniques do, theoretically opening the door to someone with more skill and less power.

Actually no. You misunderstand.

The reason 30+ year olds even go into knuckleballing is because it's their last chance at breaking into the MLB.

But like 98% of them fail to properly throw it and thus disappear.

There's like 2 knuckleballers in the league.

It's not thrown by young stud pitchers because its fucking hard and not worth their time when they have big league sliders and curves they can throw.

It's legitimately a hard pitch to throw.

Do you need someone to pinch hit singles/ doubles? A serena Williams isn't going to be nailing homers, but if she can punch through/chip over the infield reliably then would she have value?

I would have thought that would be far more likely to succeed than meme pitching

If a player starts doing this over time, the defense adjusts.

I think a pitcher would be a good shot a meme pitch like a knuckleball? Pfffft

It would be easier just to learn different offspeed stuff. An outlier female could most certainly through mud to high 80s. With good control of 3-4 pitches and a clean deceptive delivery that kind of profile has numerous examples of tremendous success. Even a good number of starters

a decent fastball is still important to be an effective knuckle ball pitcher, so to answer your question no she would not

The major sport a genetic freak of a woman has the best chance in is probably soccer.

Here's Flo-Jo. 5'7", 130lb, 10.49 100m time. She isn't much smaller (and even bigger) than a lot of the twinks who are world class players.

And she would be faster at that time than 100% of all current soccer players.

Now of course, she'd have to train up her stamina which would reduce her explosiveness, but if she could do so while remaining a sub-12.00 100m runner (that doesn't sound fast, but a 12.00m is very fast), she would be "athletic" enough to handle playing midfield. Ronaldo, for instance, the gold standard of soccer athletes, runs about a 4.9 40 yard dash.

>But muh US wimmin's teams losing to male teens 5-2.

We're talking about a 1 in a 5 billion athlete here, like a Flo-Jo. And in addition to that, the fact the US Women teams can even score a goal against male teenagers should tell you something.

The best women's rugby and football teams would get blanked by male teenagers. The best women's baseball team would probably get mercy ruled 10-0 in the first inning against 16 year olds (the world record pitch speed for a woman is 69mph. It'd be batting practice all day for top high school baseball players. The best woman pitcher of all time is Eri Yoshida and she was shelled in independent leagues [glorified beer leagues] here, where all the crappy unscouted highschool players go to die).

A woman have wanted to try out for men's pro soccer, but FIFA has a rule against it.

Yeah and even when those old dudes have success with the knuckle it's for like 3 years tops before they revert to getting destroyed

Noah Syndergaard broke the gender barrier a few years back

No chance, a British 100m runner with a couple of sub 10 second times played very low league level and wasn't good enough to go any further. You have to have skill/ability with the speed too

>You have to have skill/ability

Of course. It's assumed she would learn those from an early age while having Flo-Jo's athleticism to boot.

Of course, this has a .0000000001% of happening, but women don't face the same raw size and power differential in soccer as they do in the other major sports.

>probably soccer
no chance, women world champions routinely lose against teenage kids and younger while training
