Should I get a Harley Benton guitar?

My birthday is coming up, and I wondered if I should get a the pictured guitar. It's £103, but looks really good. I can't find any problems with it, but I don't wanna make a mistake. Thanks Sup Forums.

A more expensive one would probably have better build quality and shit. But if you like the style and want that guitar then go for it dude

Thanks bud. Can you spot anything wrong with it, though?

Can you play it before you buy it?
It might play great or it might need a complete set up.
£103 is very cheap desu. Also have a look at secondhand instruments as always bargains to be had

I'm ordering it online, but I'll see if I can find a place to buy and test it. Thanks.

That is one ugly guitar, my dude.

just get an epiphone les paul or a squier tele/strat m8, meme shape guitars get old really quick

Why? I think it looks like a Schenker model.

I hate Epiphones and Squires. I've got Gibson SG, and would never buy a fake.

Sorry, I've just never liked angular body designs, especially the v shape. Just a personal preference.

The entire harley benton line is just a load of homages made specifically for thomann and the guitar you posted is basically a gibson design, but whatever floats your boat

It's a Y shape, actually.

You don't have to apologize, user, I was just wondering why you don't like them.

Just but duncans or EMG's on it you will be fine

Spend a little more money on a used guitar which is produced in Japan or Mexico. You can also resell them for about the same value (or more) you bought them for if they don't get all dinged up.

I don't have a job, and my Dad is only letting me spend a maximum of £200. I'm not some old loser in his parents basement btw. I'm just not of age to have a job.

MODS

What?

...

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH you're in trouble ding dong shlong gobbler I'm telling mom you're underage

I'm literally 18. I just don't wanna dive into the world of work without living a bit.

get a part time job washing dishes or some shit, save up for a couple months and spring an extra hundred quid on a slightly better guitar, trust me man. something between the £200-300 mark will play so much better and last you years longer than a £100. make the investment now and if you're serious about playing you may never Need to buy another guitar. wanting another one is a different matter though

Saving up for a better would benefit you sound wise, tuning stability, fit and finish, also everyone dents the shit out of the points on the end. There's no resale value on this guitar at all.

I can play, I just need a new metal guitar. My Ibanez is Knackered.

>i'm just not of age to have a job
is a lot different from
>I'm just not ready to have a job
Be real careful about that ding dong cock gobbler or the mods will ban you. Buy the cheapest guitar you can find I mean dirt cheap fuck how cheap it feels make sure it's cheap shit and it's absolutely worthless. Then put quality pickups in it. It will sound so good you might stop being a cock gobbler and just a mediocre guitarist.

Thanks for the feedback everyone.

still to be fair lad i'd recommend spending more. if you're wanting to play metal you'll want a good set of pickups, something that's set up well with lowish action but no fret buzz or anything. getting a cheap guitar and sorting out yourself can be a fun hobby but if you just want to be able to plug in and play worry free for the next few years a more expensive guitar is the way to go.
funnily enough i'm borrowing a friend's ibanez starter model right now, and while i can get great tones out of it with my amp and it's small and comfortable enough to just thrash on without thinking, intonation and the pickups have been a little off. you'll see a world of difference with a better instrument.

I know that I'm being a dick by countering everything that your're saying, but I don't just do metal. I also do blues and stuff. You'll know better than me, but if I get metal pickups, will they be able to do blues stuff? Also, what kind of pickups should I get to do metal?

a lot of it really comes down to your amp more than anything, and actually using the volume and tone controls on your guitar. if you are looking for a more diverse tone it's probably not a good idea to shop for specialised pickups. any kind of super hot running humbucker will be great for metal but suck for other things.
what amp are you using? if you're looking for an upgrade on that at any point i'd recommend the vox vt40+, had it since i was 14 and it's served me perfectly for years. can do gorgeous reverby cleans and absurdly distorted thrash and everything in between.

basically just go to a guitar shop, try stuff out. find something that sits comfortably in your hands and lends itself to your style of playing. it's your hands and amp that shape your tone more so than pickups.

I've had a Line6 Spider my entire life, and she sounds beautiful.

while i'm not a fan of line 6 myself, the versatility they have is absolutely a useful feature for a young player wanting to cover lots of styles. my earlier advice still stands then, just try out different models of guitar, find one that you can imagine playing for the next few years to come. who knows, maybe the one you asked about in the OP is perfect for you, but never just buy stuff blind.
i do still recommend a higher end model just cause it'll save you effort a few years down the line. and the longer you spend with one guitar the better it plays. what you get is really just a matter of taste at this point.
good luck lad

That guitar is fugly. At least get an Epiphone Flying V so you can resell it later.
