People barely even knew who they were to begin with.

They were pretty known in the 2000s. Not mainstream, but not obscure either.

bump

The filename is a clue on what i'm mentioning

Remember when these guys were huge for like a year, hailed as "the new Nirvana", and then disappeared off the face of the earth?

I feel like that's how things have to go for any artist hailed as "the new [insert acclaimed artist here]." It puts massive expectations on the new artist that they almost certainly can't live up to, and it gives people a presupposition on what the new artist is supposed to sound like, so a lot of people don't go into them with an open mind.

But The Vines were always kinda mediocre anyway.

Julian Casablancas with a vag.

>forgotten
I still listen to the rejects daily

I still occasionally listen to them

Move Along is still a GOAT album

didn't know this was great bands of the 2000s. YYYs just take their time between albums

>DO YOU FEEL LIKE A MAN

HEY THERE DELILAH WHAT'S IT LIKE IT JEW YORK CITY?

There we way too many bands in the early-mid 2000s. I realize why it's hard to attach sentiment to a lot of them. So many forced overhyped bands all at once.

Their debut album was one of my favorites as a kid

these all look like the exact same band
the 2000's were a terrible time

WTH? YYY were far more aggressive and better than Julian Casablancas/The Strokes.

still 1000 times better than today "music" bullshit.

>YYYs terrible
you are terrible

>these all look like the exact same band
Are you blind, bro?

>YOU WERE EVERYTHING I WANTED

youtube.com/watch?v=FU0fQIezoK0

This song's still a nostalgic banger. Too bad they were just riding the hype train after Paramore released Riot!, they had slight potential. Now I think the lead singer is a solo Country artist who was on American Idol or some shit.

Im pointing at the fact that Karen O is almost the gender swap of JC, both ugly af but people seems to love them anyway.

>2000s Pop-Punk icons
>One just got out of a highly-pulicised divorce with Hayley Williams
>forgotten

RUBY-RUBY-RUBY-RUBYYYYYY

First band in thread I've never heard of

...

One-hit wonders in the US, pretty sure they're still big in their home country

Pretty much the Australian t.A.T.u. except edgier

I laughed when I found out they're releasing an album this year.

>I DO IT FOR THE DRUUUUGS

Oh fuck, I remember them. I still like those two singles that aired on MTV years ago, didn't listen to more of them because I didn't remember their names.

>SHAKE SHAKE, SHAKE SHAKE-A-SHAKE IT

I had never heard of this band but I really like this song

The only reason I recognize them is cause they showed up at the tail end of a zack and cody episode.

These guys could have been on the post grunge pantheon, but they peaked way too early.

not bad, kinda reminds me of Mr. Blue Sky

youtube.com/watch?v=LSAECj0GXWQ
Literally one of the worst songs of the 2000s

...

BUT I'M NOT PARALYZED

these faggots always show up when I'm looking for Kaiser Orchestra in shops

that's the only reason I know them

Nah

That photo looks like a promo for an MTV show

>pogs

I thought Ladytron was making a new album again.

Helen Marnie's new solo LP is good stuff

Miley Cyrus’ emo as fuck brother

Ahhhhhahah

Atreyu
The Libertines
Scary Kids Scaring Kids
Buckcherry
Lifehouse
Switchfoot
Matchbook Romance
We the Kings
Hoobastank
Flobots
Theory of a Deadman
Fuel
Puddle of Mudd
Priestess

my dog is named after that song lol

Honestly, one of the least hatable early-2000s Nu Metal bands

Fuck I keep thinking of more

Relient K
The Fray
Saliva
Trapt
Powerman 5000
Los Lonely Boys
Bowling For Soup
Flyleaf
SR-71
Metro Station
OK Go
The Hives

I'm sure there's way more but these are off the top of my head

You just KNOW

I PUSH MY FINGERS INTO MY

>least hatable
Yet two of them are wearing hats.

The Fray aren't that forgotten, plenty of their songs are still played on the radio right now, and How To Save a Life is probably a stable of High School Suicide/Bullying-Prevention-PSA Video-Core music.

And Flyleaf were big for a while, they still have some hardcore fans for whatever reason.

What? They still are fucking huge

>SR-71

F A K E

P L A S T I C

S U B M A R I N E

IF I LAY HERE
IF I JUST LAY HERE

...

Nahh, they are still pretty much remembered

WOULD YOU LAY WITH ME AND JUST FORGET THE WORLD

This song reminds me of my ex from 2006 so I hate it now

...

Gravity the Seducer was so zzzzzzzzzzzzz tho

WHY DO I KEEP REMEMBERING SO MANY OF THESE SHITTY POP PUNK/BUTTROCK BANDS

The Script
Snow Patrol
Red Jumpsuit Apparatus
Boys Like Girls
Yellowcard
Secondhand Serenade
Dynamite Hack
Nine Days
The Vines
Blue October
12 Stones

>one look puts the rhythm in my hand

Its amazing how just having a good attitude and haircut with some decent accessories can take objectively Walmart clothes and make them cool.

I feel like 2000s is when music had its worst time because it was when the music business was trying to figure out how not to bleed to death and trying to stay afloat because of Napster. I feel like in a different decade P.O.D could have easily been in a Slipknot role.

Lots of these bands weren't supported so they didn't know how to really sell themselves. 2010s brought us more variety and savvier marketing and sales so we had more famous bands/solo artists.

These guys were my favorite band for like 4 months around 2007

youtube.com/watch?v=g4cVv0kb-Fs
youtube.com/watch?v=ixw_bLVUL34
youtube.com/watch?v=YbeBLvMFAcs

EVERYBODY! MOVE YOUR FEET AND FEEL UNITED! OH OH OH!

Yellowcard were fucking huge in the 2000s, and still had a slight following in the 2010s until they broke up.

Ocean Avenue is probably one of the most recognizable Pop-Punk songs of all time.

I MAKE THEM GOOD GIRLS GO BAAAAD

...

Literal one hit wonders
Plus the recognizable voice from that song isn't even theirs
Still groovy as fuck tho

I have all their albums. Not a bad one in the bunch.
Great band. Their shows are always packed, too.

good lord they're ugly AF

For some reason this band is just burned into my mind as part of 2007-2008.

A lot of Em's newer fans don't even know he had a group in the 2000s

I honestly prefer their 2 albums to most of Em's solo work

kek

>I GO OOH-OOH, YOU GO AH-AH, ALALALA, ALALALA

The Rapture - they got fucking AOTY from Pitchfork in 2003 but now they're just another handful of literally whos

What Eminem fan has never heard My Band?

Essential gay-core

remember the stupid faces the frontman used to do while singing?
>best band since Nirvana
if you think that modern music journalism is bad, consider that '90s and early '00s british music press was even worse.
Like, a different "next big thing" every week hailed as the coolest band since The Beatles and then forgotten in a few months.

Remember 3OH!3 ?

Holy shit they were awful.

>these two straight sisters had more of a incestual/lesbian vibe than tegan and sara ever did

Holy fucking gay.
I got aids just from hearing that song.

the 00's were the worst period of music of all time
people only keep listening to shit from then because they liked it when they were kids

Do these guys still have a following? They were huge in the 2000s.

never forget the best performance in the history of late night

It had some of the worst music ever made, but also some of the best and most exciting

Whatever happened to Tilda Swinton's band?
youtube.com/watch?v=Kk8eJh4i8Lo

>also some of the best and most exciting
source?

Bunch of electropop acts that everyone forgot about after the start of this decade like ladyhawke, little boots, la roux etc.

Oh dude i love radiohead!!

I fucking love their first 2 albums.
Dude went bonkers and destroyed his own band, though.
