Is there anyway I can have two users on the same computer at the same time?
For example let's say I'm the owner of a restaurant. The main computer is next to the cash register which is my computer, and I'd like to setup a second monitor for the back kitchen, so employees can see incoming grubhub orders and stuff and control it separately. So my main monitor is for my personal use, and the second monitor is for the back kitchen for employees to use for orders and stuff.
So yeah... One pc... 2 monitors... 2 keyboards.... 2 mouses... Two separate controls.
Possible? Without buying a whole new computer?

Yeah use a virtual machine: it basically runs an operating system on your operating system as if it is any other program. Google it, nobody here is going to explain it.
Alexander Barnes
R you sure it can handle 2 mouse and 2 keyboard? (Im not OP)
Isaac Wright
Yeah I know what a virtual machine is... My question is how would it be possible to set it up so that the virtual machine is on a compeltly different monitor, mouse, and keyboard.
Samuel Nguyen
multiseat? Also,
Bentley Ramirez
nope can't monitor is no prob at all, but all share the same mouse and kb
replace one place with a tablet or a rpi that's the cheapest way to get it done 2 mice and/or 2 kbs on one pc under win will interfere, 'cause there's only one pointer and only one kb buffer. linux may vary, i don't know.
Daniel James
Yeah that's what I need, a separate mouse and keyboard controlling a separate monitor.
I thought of a tablet but a tablet cannot multitasking as good as a computer. (printing incoming faxes, viewing all grubhub, delivery.com, seamless, ubereats, all that shit as once).
If anything I'll just buy a cheap laptop
Angel Hall
never actually did a multiseat setup but I am guessing you just need two monitors and +1 core
Brody Evans
sigh... You ignored my post It is a fucking multiseat MULTISEAT

Ops didn't see it. I'll Google it. Care to give a quick run down/how to configure?

It's not worth the effort, time or expense based on the use case you gave. Are you seriously going to run 12+ foot video, mouse and keyboard cables to the second location? The best solution is to buy a 2nd computer. You could probably get a used Dell cheaper than all the long cables you would need to use with one computer.
Asher Walker
How far are these stations from each other? If they're on the same table, sure. But if they're 20 feet or more, just get a cheap ass desktop for $100 or something. That way, you at least have a backup in case a computer goes down.
Dominic Lewis
a cheap laptop will be the best answer. there will be ways to work from one pc but it will be more of a headache and probably eat up a lot of time faffing around with it when things inevitably go wrong. an extra machine will save you money and time in the long run. if you already have a monitor you could pick up a used pc for cheap as fuck.
Grayson Jenkins
google multiseat {your OS}
Robert Cook
Why not just buy a cheap ass pc and connect it to your network (router).
Lincoln Miller
You dense motherfucker

1st off, is this a rage thread? Google is a thing in 2017 or you could always ask Jeeves? Next thing you should do is google the cloud. After that, learn to puta. Once you've done all that, yes it is possible. You may not be able to share your puta with your kitchen staff without them finding your kiddy porn collection but you can send data via the INTERNET!

stop listening to all these basic faggots.
just download ASTER control..
Samuel Flores
You can, there were programs for it... But I think it is better two buy another PC, it would me more reliable.
Evan Martinez
With Virtualbox you can lock an specific mouse & keyboard to a VM and place that VM on the 2°nd monitor

Good thanks

op. there is a very simple test you can do. Get two USB keyboards and mice, plug them into one computer and see if you can move both at the same time. If you can and it seems like they're "fighting each other" then yes this setup can work. You could never do this with PS/2 devices but with USB devices, I think it's possible.
