How do u all feel about this shit about to go down.
Im not even from the USA and im still scared about it. (british). Im scared cos if this does happen the UK may follow the US.
How do u all feel about this shit about to go down
It's a bad, bad move.
Wouldn't happen if you were in the EU.
Enjoy your Brexit, kek
Looking forward to brexit. I think when we do leave more would follow. Germany will be next
You’re probably safe because your goverent actually gives a shit about the consumer and have implemented appropriate consumer protections regulation.
America is just cucking it’s citizens as it always has been
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Everyone in the UK loves America, so I reckon it'll happen here as well. Also Brexit is awful. I know we're going to get a shit deal because Theresa May is a shit Prime Minister
This fukken piece of shit
so will it be repealed or not? Seems like people are scared as hell, even tho the FCC got so many messages they could bathe in them.
Pajeet has openly said that he doesn't give a shit about all the comments and messages
I don't see how net neutrality is an issue because:
1) We didn't have net neutrality in its current form before Obama and the net still was more or less exactly the same before then
2) Companies like Google are shilling in how net neutrality is great and can't be ended. Google also offers a gigabit internet service. If net neutrality dies and Google does any shady practices with its gigabit internet, then Google will be digging its own grave from its own hypocrisy. And then it still opens the market for an ISP to be completely net neutral and they will get like 99% of all business if it's available in your area.
the net-neutrality law was made after internet companies hatched the idea to make sites pay per visit, the law didn't exist before because nobody tried that shit.
>USA fucked up
How is this news?
>Germany will be next
You retarded? Germany owns the EU
Everyone looks at the bad side of it. What about the potential good side? What if ISPs offer unlimited net neutral service for the same price now, but then offer a social media service for only $5 a month overall or other cheaper plans for people who only care about those things. The most important thing is that an unlimited net neutral plan must be an option and not be more expensive than now.
its been going on in the eu also. it went for us, then british, then us again then british, now its back at the us.
back then cable and shit was thriving. noe it is not. they need a new way to milk the consumer.
just because something was progressed enough before doesnt mean it can never mature... dumb fucking faggot
You're a fucking moron.
We've had net neutrality since the 80s but you're a 15 year old try hard faggot who doesnt know shit.
You have absolutely no knowledge of economics or what barriers to entry are in a monopolistic market you fucking hack. Kill yourself, nothing of value would be lost.
thats not how the internet works. you cant bring a dying format like cable was to the internet
>before Obama
do explain, trumpcuck.
I love watching you invent history
What shit is about to go down??
4th reich?
$10 a month to access Sup Forums
feelsbadman
How dense are you?
America is about to be made great again.
Germany is the reason the EU still exists
We have another 2 days you fucking fag and its only being voted on not taken away and if it is lost it won't happen overnight it will probably take a month or two to take effect
>government regulation
>ever a good thing
As a US citizen I fully expect that the average price of the Internet in the USA will go up while service stagnates.
I'm pretty fucking mad. I live in a highly urbanized area with well over 10k people per square mile and the best intenet I can get is only 100mbps up and down. And the company has the balls to say that is amazingly fast speeds. Oh I also pay like $60/mo for the shit service.
I hope the Trump voters are happy... Literally everything in this country is being made worse because of his election.
Anyone that lives on the east coast and has ever watched an HD movie while playing online vidya knows that the major ISP's are already managing traffic outside of net neutrality.
The ISP's just need the law to get struck down so they can claim, "we were ready for this! Look!" and ofc charge a premium for it as if it's brand new.
>shilling this hard
You do know how regulations come about right? Business fucks up hard and the government has to clean it up and make sure they dont fuck the citizens over.
Rampant pollution lead to the Clean Air Act/Clean Water Act/Superfund
The 2008 financial crisis led to CFPB, TILA-RESPA, etc.
The government doesnt arbitrarily regulate anything, they;re forced to step in because business is greedy and shortchanges the rest of us continuously.
But you were never interested in arguing the merits or shortcomings, you just wanted to spout simplistic baseless platitudes because you're either a troll or a dipshit. Probably both.
ISPs block access to Sup Forums because it "lacks family values or any substantive content"
It can happen, it will happen.
Captch: close close
Don't forget, any websites your ISP doesn't like can be blocked.
>like Sup Forums
>no more celeb threads or girly dicks, or weird cartoon pron
Actually, fuck it. Net neutrality will cure Sup Forums's cancer.
Fake news
Kill yourself faggot.
Found the Trump bootlicker
The 2008 financial crisis was caused by government bailing out banks you dumb nigger, government didn’t fix shit.
>muh greedy business
Fuck off commie
I have a few concerns about this. If you view the internet as a platform for businesses and ideas, then it can be likened to our system of highways: you are free to travel anywhere and visit whatever cities or monuments or parks you like. The internet right now is similar in that way: we can all travel to whatever sites and use whatever online services we want freely. If NN ends, I wonder if it wouldn't be like privatizing all the highways, and forcing people to pay a toll at every single turn.
I also worry about ISP competition. I am a firm believer in the capitalist model, and think that more competition is always better at improving services and lowering costs. However, I'm concerned that, in this case, other ISPs won't actually be able to spring up and compete with the big guys because of who owns the physical infrastructure of fiber optic wires. I admit I don't really know much about this particular topic, but, if AT&T or Comcast owns the physical data lines, then how can another ISP hope to compete without first running their own lines through cities – a process which, I'm sure, is heavily regulated at the county level.
These are the things that concern me. If any anons have better information, especially about the physical infrastructure, please share.
>The 2008 financial crisis was caused by government bailing out banks you dumb nigger,
Are you a MASSIVE retard? Like actually mentally retarded who just invents history to satisfy the illusion you call your life? Holy shit if this is actually what you believe you need a neuropsychological assessment, CT Scan, maybe an MRI for good measure. This might be the DUMBEST post I've ever seen in the history of the internet. Get some fuckin help bud.
Shitpost while you still can soyboy.
>wants more bigger government and more regulation
>calls others bootlickers
Oh the ironing
It's entirely in the realm of possibility without net neutrality. While they cannot completely block access to the site, they can throttle your speeds back to 64k modem days. Imagine waiting three minutes for the main page of Sup Forums to load, and another 10 minutes for an image you click on to load. All because the ISP doesn't like that website.
Captcha: Moore club
Nice rebuttal famalam, your in-depth analysis totally proved my wrong
>regulation to prevent regulation is more regulation
Found the retard
Without bailing out the banks the whole financial and monetary system could have collapsed because people would have realized money is in fact worthless.
You're clinically retarded. It's not even a point of debate at this time, you are actually mentally short.
The government bailed out businesses to prevent a global depression you fucking dipshit.
kill yourself.
You. Drink bleach. It's good for you. Trump says so. Tweeted about it the other day in fact.
>bank bailouts stemmed the insolvency in the global market, preventing worldwide market collapse
>collapse was caused by bunk economic theory that the free market would simply outgrow the pace of defaults placed on worthless assets hidden within opaque products around the globe
>implying anyone would stay with an isp who did this
McDonalds burgers aren’t regulated by the state, what would happen if they suddenly halved the size of them? People would go to Burger King, or a new burger joint would swoop in and grab all those disgruntled customers.
Why would this not apply to isps?
How the fuck do we get around the internet without Net Neutrality then?
Actual fucking autist
>implying you have any other choice
In most of the USA there is only one ISP serving an area. Anyone in those areas with only one ISP must use that ISP... especially now that no cellular provider offers unlimited data.
money
Nobody is buying into your misinformation campaign, Ajit. Go poo in loo.
>In most of the USA there is only one ISP serving an area
I wish Canada were like this. We have 3 companies that cover the entire country and our Telecom services are really expensive because of it
because its not easy to open a new ISP in the area, ISPs are natural monopolies
As an addendum to If you wanted to start an ISP because there is only one in your area you have two options. Either buy bandwidth from the main ISP who owns the cables in your area (still have to abide by that ISP's rules). Or you get about 10 million dollars of investment and begin to lay your own cables so you can control the rules... Yahhhh I've looked into starting my own ISP. I just need Bitcoin to keep going up.
Presumably, there would emerge an alternative, which would also and more-so, gouge customers for legacy access.
Ever had to rely on satellite based communication? lol we all might have to pretty soon if you want to Sup Forums
Internet became boring as television anyway. Only teenagers care. I lived my first 25 years without it and I can assure you can. Or you can just deep web everything through some new vpn ways.
OP is a retard
> Im scared cos if this does happen the UK may follow the US.
its already in place dumbass it was done when you were all distracted by jimmy saville
Your country is fuck huge and sparsely populated. Thats just the cost of building and maintaining the network.
I honestly only use google, youtube, wikipedia and steam of that list
and they wouldn't be blocking steam because valve would pay them to make it free for the revenue
Isn't the order repealing OIO? I feel as though this is another one of those liberal-driven misinformation campaigns.
Whoa, you're at half retard. Step back.
Money is worth something. Absolutely.
The money poured into morgage backed securities, like them 50 foreclosed houses at the edge of town or whatever, was proven to be worthless when they were exposed as so-called toxic assets.
Just because you are ok with a crippled internet doesn't mean everyone is. Besides, if isps were going to arbitrarily block sites like that, it would be easy enough to bypass. They would be cutting their own throat.
>Trump told me it's good so everyone else is just a liberal or fake news
Do you trust Google and ComCast to decided what's on the Internet? Do you trust the government to regulate what is free speech or hate speech? If no, then you can to scrap this shit.
>cutting their own throat
You might be right. On the other hand, if most ISP's cooperate to block or throttle the same stuff they literally are spawning a unique and separate market where there once was only one. All-access versus normie-access.
What if Ajit Poopoo is doing the right thing, in a topsy turvy world, what is the bad guy is the good guy?
>All-access versus normie-access.
This is about as anti-consumer as it gets and it benefits nobody.
Anyone who has ever had Direct TV, Comcast, Verizon, Dish etc know that these are some of the shiestist companies consumers deal with. Letting them have their way thru legislation is the stupidest thing I've ever heard. Only under Trump would consumers constantly vote against themselves as long as the libs stay mad.
I got spectrum and at least you can get free cable tv through the internet line
The government has fucked up everything it has ever touched. Id prefer them to stay the hell away from the internet
why not a bitcoin internet,
See
Just pay 1 direct TV bill and see why they're bad guys and ripoff artists
Killing NN at a time when every content distributor wants to also be their own content provider seems kind of redundant.
Bitcoin is going to bust at some point.
I'm betting server farms in all the usual suspect countries, (China, Russia, North Korea, ect...) are purposefully manipulating the value of cryptocurrency so they can liquidate the whole market.
Has anyone heard of someone cashing out any small amounts after the value goes up a little bit? Day trader style, you know?
Nope. All these bitcoin wallet holding sites have been not-so-curiously been unable to process transactions for real cash lately.
go back to InfoWars
yea its going bust in 2018
It benefits the shareholders of communications companies.
And here you are.
Pajeet Lie is obviously getting paid off by Verizon. Once he's done in Gov he'll go back to work for Telecoms and rape the coffers there. It's called revolving door.
nope, is what net neutrality protect, ISP without it they can do whatever they want so, yes, site like Sup Forums can be kill the night after they kill the neutrality
>new VPNs
Do you not know how they work? You're still utilizing the ISP's network. You're still subjected to everything they do to you. VPN's won't do shit.
Moron you don’t have free speech in the UK. You’re already fucked. Net Neutrality started in 2015 here and it’s a way for our gov to regulate the internet. It’s the first step toward gov controlled internet.
>t. 14 year old "libberternian"
Honestly this is the sort of thing makes me want to side with the crazy gun toting conspiracy theorists, and start a violent uprising.
>free speech
I've never really understood the specifics of the benefits of freedom of speech, what can I get away with in the US that I cant in the UK? Except for mass shootings?
>Im scared cos if this does happen the UK may follow the US.
Sorry, mate, other western countries are not as stupid as the USA to allow that to happen. I live in the Cayman Islands and we marvel at how fuckign dumb the USA is for the people to allow this to happen. You Americans are the dumbest fucks EVERRRRR!
>America is just cucking it’s citizens as it always has been
AMEN Brother!
>We didn't have net neutrality in its current form before Obama
That is fucking bullshit! Obama simply recognized that net neutrality was fragile and moved to preserve it in its current form. You motherfucking lying shit-spewers and Pai should be burned alive and your families with you.
>>And then it still opens the market for an ISP to be completely net neutral and they will get like 99% of all business if it's available in your area.
Since when does an oligopoly respond to consumer desires? And bear in mind that some ISP's are monopolies in some areas. You are a motherfucking brainless moron whose crack whore mother overdosed with her john when you were conceived in the alley, which explains your brain damage.
>The most important thing is that an unlimited net neutral plan must be an option and not be more expensive than now
Ok, you fucking moron: How the fuck do you propose that be enforced? Your mama gunna blow an ISP exec and hope your service is good?
>
>You're a fucking moron.
>We've had net neutrality since the 80s but you're a 15 year old try hard faggot who doesnt know shit.
>You have absolutely no knowledge of economics or what barriers to entry are in a monopolistic market you fucking hack. Kill yourself, nothing of value would be lost.
AMEN! He's a shit-for-brains fool! Probably a Pai troll.
>McDonalds burgers aren’t regulated by the state, what would happen if they suddenly halved the size of them?
You fucking IDIOT! Mayo used to come in quart jars, then one company decided to reduce the size to 30oz...then everybody went to 30oz AT THE SAME PRICE!!! Now Kraft is downsizing some of their 8oz cheese bars to 6oz and not noe of your shit-for-brains- is taking fucking notice!! You do not deserve your next breath.
Have you tried flipping off the queen?
