Capitalism isn't that, It's economics stupid. It just so happens to perfectly fit a society which values liberty, freedom, and true equality and created the most powerful force in history for rapid human development and increasing the quality of life for millions across the world.
Socialism, and by extension, Communism can only work in an ideal society, one which lacks human sin and temptation and control given to a being far greater than mankind, namely God. not a government made up of humanity. That day will come, but not without the death of billions.

Socialism as political system (capital S) generally means centrally planned economy and public control of the capital and means of production of public goods and services.
The same circumstances that make Socialism economically feasible also makes a strong central government practical.
