Photographing fairies is a good downward spiral film

>psychoLOGical

I assume you have already seen it but you should go and rewatch 12 monkeys again anyways.

trainspotting 2 was released this year. watch that.

I will check that out
Haven't seen in a few years I should probably watch again

Bruh I was waiting so long for that to come out. I really enjoyed it

Well I got one movie out of this thread lmao

Thanks user

And bump

A Serbian Film and The Poughkeepsie Tapes

Didn't really like a Serbian film but I will watch the Poughkeepsie tapes

Chekkkkkk

CHEKKKKKK

The Poughkeepsie Tapes is a movie that seriously disturbed me, which just does not happen. I can count on one hand all themovies that have really brought up that feeling in me, and that movie takes the cake.

>
>>>>WAT

First I got dubs then trips then quads lol

Can you list the others? I am watching photographing fairies right now and I think it will be on my list of favorites

Stalker
The Tree of Life (kinda)
Come and See
The Man From Earth
Dead Mans Shoes
Sans Toi ni Loi (The Vagabond)

Man i've spent years watching these sorts of movies but i'd have to spend some lengthy time going through them for the ones that left an impact on me. The above are ones I keep going back to, though.

Love the Fountain.

You'll love Synecdoche New York

Oh if you like Anime:

Vampire Hunter D (1985)
Escaflowne (movie and series are great)
anything Miyazaki
Akira

I will watch all of those, I have seen the man from earth and i forgot to put it on my list it's one of my favorites

Im not a huge fan of anime but my favorite band did an edit over akira so I guess I'll watch that one

That does seem really interesting I will watch that

Do you know anymore like the fountain? It's my favorite movie

holy shit OP if yo like that theme you will love THE ANARCHISTS COOKBOOK or
THE SALTON SEA you'll love that, its another SPUN basically

I like the older Anime that was a lot darker and grittier. I'm not a fan of the overly cartoony characters and constant comic reliefs.

Vampire Hunter D is one of my favs.

Can't tell if you're joking but I will watch both of those cause drugs

The signal
400 days is really good. But the ending made no sense but was good.
Shutter island
Sucker Punch
The fall(great visuals)
Life of pi
Cloud atlas
What dreams may come
Pi
Black swan was pretty trippy
Fight club if you havnt seen it
Lucky number eleven(which really didn't get the credit it deserved when it came out)
Cellular (more of an action movie but had Jason stathem and Chris Evans in it)
I enjoy thrillers/plot twist ending type movies as well. Those are a few of my top list movies

Cloud Atlas, kinda?

Lucky number sleven* stupid auto correct

Natural Born Killers is a pretty good film, just hard to understand if youre not paying attention

>Requiem for a dream

Confirmed for retarded. Do you even film critic? Lmao. What a piece of shit film.

I have seen most of your list and I agree with 400 days, any other ending would have been good but it's just so open for interpretation like what even happened? I will watch pi, the fall, what dreams may come and I assume you got autocorrected from lucky number slevin

The salton sea contains a lot of drugs, all meth, its pretty fucked up, at least watch the trailer first, now i didnt mean anarchists cookbook, I meant SLC Punk, it kind of has that drug feel but not much usage, now another drug movie however is easy rider a 60s movie with peter fonda biking across the country after doing a cocaine deal, in the filming of the movie there was heavy drug usage....Fear nad loathing in las vegas every drug possible in that movie......Drugstore cowboy is a movie about robbing pharmacies and getting fucked up....white lightnin is a dark movie southern gothic, with drug usage, a little meth inhalants and its a dark dark dark film.....

I didn't really like it but i put it there to provide context for the movies that I like (drugs, downward spiral) the scene with his mom is pretty messed up

Mirror mask is also trippy.
Good dick. If u like little to no talk in movies
Cast away on the moon is a Korean film so it might be harder to find but its really well written. I keep going back to it.
Eat pray love with Julia Andrews. Really good.

Also thanks for contributing bro....

also again OP permanent midnight has usage, buffalo soldiers is a movie where the US army a guy uses chemicals to make heroin and they all get fucked up and raise hell its a superb movie and do not ever forget this movie ITS CRAZY!!! mcully culken makes out with fez from that 70s show in a dumpster in a movie called PARTY MONSTER! fucking wild

Very well.

Sorry just came here to start shit.

Yeah whenever I have a hard time finding similar movies I like I usually watch 'watchmojo' on YouTube. They make pretty decent list of movies that are considered 'classics' or have 'great visuals' or 'wtf' story lines. They are a reliable source of movies that are usually similar to what you are looking for and they usually tell u the premise of the movie in case ur unsure. Hope that helps

I will watch Permanent midnight, buffalo soldiers and party monster they all sound pretty good

Thanks for understanding, pretty respectable... what are your favorite movies? Doesn't have to be related to mine

Post WW2 yakuza, heroin, more heroin, whores, suicide, and a bit of rape
Enjoy

I'm a little too drunk to understand what you mean but I will save watchmojo in a tab

Damn seems intense I will watch that one

It has some intense moments, but the lead character is so fucked up and indestructible at the same time it’s more just watching him try to destroy himself and everything around him
It should definitely fit your criteria
Make sure you watch the one from the mid-70s, not the one from the 2000s btw

Taxi Driver is pretty great.

Good thing you said that I bookmarked the 2002 one

Honestly never seen it so I probably should watch it

Looks like the thread is dying soon, thanks to all who contributed

My tastes are very broad.

I enjoyed "I, Origins" for the acting and sense of otherworldly interaction.

For cinematography and general ambience of the film I enjoyed Sicario.

Regarding older movies, Forbidden Planet is one of my favorites.

Foreign films that make my list are "y tu mama tambien" (Mexican) and red cliff(Chinese).

Worth checking out but none of these have a dark, drug fueled downward spiral.

Yeah there’s a big difference, I don’t even think the two are related. Also, permanent midnight was suggested, second that for sure. Only Ben Stiller movie I ever liked. If you want to laugh at some corny late 80s/early 90s shit, watch New Jack City. It’s got Chris rock in his funniest role ever, as a crackhead. It’s supposed to be a serious drama about the crack epidemic, but the acting is so over the top it becomes a real shit show

Ayy, Check This Out!!!

magula!

Oh man, it's very very good.

Could Try "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas" for drugs

My dude! I loved I, Origins. It has a bit of a transcendental feel to it... Sicario was nice aswel. I will watch forbidden planet, y tu mama tambien and red cliff. For you I would recommend The Discovery, otherlife and synchronicity

Yeah it's one of my favorites I forgot to put it on the list

Swiss army man was really good. Weird as fuck too

If you want downward spiral check out Bad Lieutenant, great harsh film.

I didn't really like that one. Maybe it's because I don't really like that main actor.. Forget his name. Maybe it was just too PG :P

Sounds like a good movie I will watch it
Some of may favorite tv shows that are new are The Orville, Big Mouth and future man... anyone have any recommendations off of that?

I have that bookmarked from another thread but I have yet to watch it I will get to it cause it seems to be a good one

Romeo & Juliet
hands down

Gummo/thread

Will watch those two both seem like good films thanks

Just started the discovery. Will check bad in later if thread is alive

Start a new one if it's dead... movie and tv threads are too far and few between

AYO nigger
The Fountain is my favourite movie

Know any others like it? It's really one of a kind

The only thing that comes close is Cloud Atlas

True, imo the fountain is better

I agree.
The Fountain is something else.
That music, Jesus Christ

I want to watch it while tripping that would be unreal

I don't do drugs aside from alcohol, but I just watched the finale now, as drunk as I am now, and Jesum Crow, it's something.

I understand that I'm just a random person on the internet but if you can I highly recommend trying lsd sometime in your life it is indescribable. I wish I could try to make you understand what it's like but it's like trying to describe emotions to someone whose never felt them, or colors to a color blind person

youtu.be/QoT_gu8W658

I get what you're saying.
But I have schizophrenic tendencies. I am an insane man pretending to be sane. I've done a very good job of staying the regular course. I behave like everyone else.

But when it comes to reality shattering drugs, I'm afraid of what I will be when I come out the other side.

I watched what dreams may come randomly right after Robin died

Any of you niggers see Dunkirk in IMAX?
Shit blew my dick off

Okay okay I understand but honestly this might help you understand what is the underlying issue. Without going into detail, when I took 2 tabs and put all of my focus on myself and my imperfections I actually discovered some repressed memories (at first I thought it was fake but when I confronted the people in the memories it was real) and it really helped me grow as a person. I feel much more comfortable in my own skin now. I know everyone isn't the same but at least smoke some weed and see what it does to you

Fear and loathing in las vegas

Have you tried Black mirror? The Netflix show

I understand my weakness. My brain thinks, in a vacuum, that 2+2=5. That's totally wrong. And that's why I'm insane. I KNOW it's 4. I have to be aware and cogent at all times to make it 4 and not 5.
Alcohol is easy because all things get weak. The madness AND the push to stay sane. So the balance is equal.

But with psychotropics.... I can't control that. I can't be sure I keep myself under total control.

Anyone?

Here ya go, exactly what you're asking for

OP here just finished this movie I recommend it. Enjoyably concept, pretty strange ending nice movie overall.

Yeah I like some of the episodes, some kinda blow though

Very interesting, If you can please explain more what do you mean by the 2+2=5 I assume that's just a simplified example of how you view the world differently but is there any more specific examples? I think lsd would be good for you if you have a trip sitter that you trust because the point is you lost control, your mind, consciousness and ego just meld with the world and you can really experience everything with the amazement of a child. If you do do acid try to make sure you're in a private place. Thank god I was because when I started to come down I figured out I had been pacing my pool In my backyard for 2 1/2 hours in 40°f hard rain completely naked. If I had been in a city I would probably had gone to jail lol

Mum, mum no it's art mum. It's a movie mum. It's not about porn ok mum I need some privacy!

Ha! Your plebian interpretations disgust me. Uncultured swine.

I'll watch it seems like I'll enjoy it

You are welcome

A Simple Plan
Gone Girl

Is this a sequel to Sharknado?

Ego death appeals to me. I want to leave myself behind. But I can't trust what will come out the other side if I take a drug like LSD or Peyote or something.

When I'm about to sleep, I see things. Monsters. People. Beings. Things coming down on me. Every night if I open my eyes. Especially if I'm sober. So much if I'm sober. Open my eyes if I'm sleepy, see monsters. They call it "hypnagogic hallucinations". they say it's normal for some people.

Ego death is like a reset to the basic function of your brain. All you prejudices go away.
But for me, I know the bottom line is rotten. I am smart, I am aware, and that's all conditioning on the rotten brain I know I have.

I don't believe in souls. Not really. But the person I am, the persona or consciousness, you can call a "soul". My meat brain makes me want to fear everything and hate everything.
But "Me". My awareness. The person writing this. I know fear is stupid.

I fight my programming every time I go to sleep.

I dont think anyone has said it yet but the first move i thought of when reading this is a scanner darkly

I mean like I hated sharknado if it's anything like that let me know so I can avoid it haha

Do you have a throwaway email or something? I've never said this on Sup Forums but I think we should talk

Fucking hell thats the movie I was forgetting! Thank you so much dude I was trying to figure out what I was missing this is easily my top 5 movies. It has alex jones technically showing that his whole infowars thing is a joke and imo it makes him an amazing actor on another level. Like the dude is so committed to the role it is his real life that's pretty crazy
