We're unironically not bad at divegrass if that's what you're implying. When we had a good team we were easily within the top 20, top 15. It's just that the gap from the top 10 teams and below is so big that everyone below is practically a minnow.

Because we don't care about them. If our best athletes played soccer we would have won multiple World Cups by now.

what you mean soccer? it's because nobody here takes it seriously as a profession. you realize we've barely had a national league for 20 years?

Like soccer, and uh...soccer?

>muh
>athletes
Pacy niggers dont win you anything in soccer.

dont forget how >global pakipaddle is

>Ameriswims

fpbp

also you boys better abandon the thread before the autistic argentine finds this thread

Why don't yanks dominate football? You've played it for years and kids all over the country grow up with it just as much as handegg or baseball

...

Define internationally renowned.

Cricket has a huge viewer no. but only some commonwealth.

Soccer is universally liked in almost all countries.

we're somewhat decent at soccer(not atm, but we'll see come the second half of qualifying)

>wanting to play povertyball instead of having a chance at being good at a sport you can make a lot of money at

Our best play Football, Baseball, Basketball, etc.

Football is the greatest game on earth. Soccer is children shit loved by impoverished, unwashed masses.

*commonwealth countries care about it

handball, volleyball, futsal, rugby, table tennis, cricket, waterpolo

they paly it at a young age, then move onto our own pastimes because everyone else is playing football/baseball/basketball, or there just isnt enough incentive to keep at it

our girls are only """top of the world"""" because of title 9

But as we arent horrible at it. I dont mind usa not being the best so long as we are better than Englel

Different required physicality and skillset though, besides the obvious of using your feet

How does a talented "soccer" player move onto a different sport?

>loved by impoverished, unwashed masses.
Then explain to me how Germany is the best team in the world; most of their players had perfectly normal childhoods.

Easy. They stop being a faggot and use their cardio to help them transition over to a better game. Soccer is like 99% running 1% kicking a ball a little. Not exactly a rocket science skill set. Whereas in Football you have to remember a fuckton of plays while playing as hard as you can every single down.

Of the top 1% of soccer players, maybe 10% would even be athletic enough to make an NFL practice squad let alone starter position.

Because you yurofags keep slurping the boat people cock. Shitskins move in and soccer gets popular.

Niggercrash is literally Jamal from da hood's ticket to riches. Basebore imports dozens of third world island spics who played the sport with a shitty stick and a rock.

I would >tf >tt but you're an American so it doesnt need to be said how utterly retarded you """""people"""""" really are.

Niggers are more into apehoop, you mong.

And nice flag.

>maybe 10% would even be athletic enough to make an NFL practice squad let alone starter position

Well obviously. Football is about technique and speed not being 7 foot and 18 stone. Of course there's a skillset, have you ever seen professionals play in person? It's ridiculous how good they are

absolutely shit coaches. My nephew used to play for one of the best youth clubs in the country and its basically full of shit scotsmen who think they're philosophers and play some preset style that doesn't really help the kids play to their strength or develop them. That and parent interference, pay to play is rampant and why deal with that shit when most of these kids just want to play?

Plenty of short and light guys make the NFL but they are way more athletic than soccer players.

The top 10% soccer players don't have the kind of technique or speed to all compete at that kind of level. Like I said, maybe 1% of them would make it to a practice squad.

A football running back has to be as fast or faster than any povertyball player but 50-100lbs of muscle heavier and probably ten times as strong.

There are plenty of Football players that run a sub 5 second 40 yard and can bench 225 for 30+ reps. Those aren't even rare statistics anymore for draft prospects.

>How does a talented "soccer" player move onto a different sport?

Money and support. See, we have an entire developmental ladder for American football, baseball, basketball, and hockey sort of built-in to our public school system. Sports are an integral part of our education system, and high school athletics are incredibly popular pastimes. Because of this, there is a lot of money and support for junior and high school level american sports. In Europe, if you want to be a soccer star, you join an "academy", but in the US, you get the same level of training and professional development for free at your school. Then of course you ramp that up x100 when you jump to the college level.

Then contrast this with soccer. In most high schools, the soccer coach is just whichever teacher wanted the extra $100 a month for also being a coach, and doesn't know jack fuck about the sport. Most kids play it when they're very young, but that's mostly because other sports aren't open to them until they get a bit older. If any of them show an aptitude for it, their only option for development is an academy. The idea of an academy just doesn't work with American parents, who are used to having that level of development available for free through the school system, as it is with American sports. The idea of paying somebody $40,000 per year so their kid can play a sport that isn't half as popular as sports they can play for free at school is totally ridiculous, which is why it just doesn't happen that often. The greatest soccer player in the world might very well have been an American, the problem is that person was a 3rd string tight end for a D2 college and spent three weeks on the practice squad for the Vikings and then went out and got a regular job, and hasn't played soccer since middle school.

If U.S. Soccer was smart, they would try to get MLS, NASL, and USL to support development of youth soccer and high school soccer to drive their player development.

>A football running back has to be as fast or faster than any povertyball player

Without a ball at their feet

T. Non American

You have to go back

those are meaningless statistics. It doesn't matter how fast you can run a 40 yard interval. You never get to do that, you're always going to run into someone on the field. It also doens't matter how much you bench, that's fucking irrelevant on the field. The problem is you idiots are obsessed with a game very few people ever play so you have to make up things so that you can relate to it.

There's plenty of players that are fast as fuck in soccer, it doesn't fucking matter if you don't know how to shoot or dribble though.

The issue is football is so stagnant creatively that in the NFL you constantly see the same shit and that's why there's no room for advancement. At the lowest level of any sport, the more athletic player will dominate. At the highest level everyone is like that so you have to come up with something else that sets you apart, that's all mental. Your average NFL player doesn't have a brain, he's not allowed to think for himself, practically every other sport requires them to improvise.

With one in their hand and multiple 250-300lb+ bodied giants trying to kill them.

Unlike soccer they can't roll over dying in anguish if someone looks at them mean.

US Soccer is fucking up by trying to force the European development system to work here in the states. You just aren't going to convince the average parent that paying an academy thousands of dollars so their kid can play a "girl's" sport is anything but completely retarded. There are still parents that will do it, sure, but you are drastically reducing the numbers of players involved in it and that decreases the odds of developing truly great players.

US Soccer should get the upper tiers of the US pyramid to invest in their local middle and high school soccer programs. It could be as easy as offering free coaching and player development courses for specific schools in that team's local area. Something that simple would be a massive boost to most teams who's coach is just the social studies teacher who had an extra hour after class.

They flop all the time. The difference is that the NFL controls all replays and doesn't show them to you. The refereeing is also arbitrary. What's the point of having a ref to review the plays if the rules are not consistent from game to game?

Good answers, thanks

Still confused as to why though, you must have seen the marketing potential when you hosted the world cup, the US could be a football giant with the right youth integration

there's no sense trying to compare the athleticism of such vastly different sports, just move on from it fuck

It's building, but its a process. Soccer is a sport that has to compete with American football, basketball, baseball, and hockey for room in the national consciousness. Add in the issues with how our youth system works, and that adds to the perception that soccer is a "girl's game" or a daycare game for little kids.

It also doesn't help that when big european stars come over to play in the MLS, they drop to the floor and start crying like bitches if anyone so much as taps their shoulder.

Those statistics are far from meaningless. Breakout speed is crucial for big plays no matter your position. A fucking 350lb dude can find himself with the ball and a clear field in front, and he has to be able to nab as much yardage as possible. The strength is what allows him to break through blocks, etc.

You're mistaken in thinking Football is devoid of technique. But you have to be physical as hell for your technique to even matter when you're ready to try to go pro.

There's plenty of creativity in Football. Are you fucking shitting me m8? New and crazy things happen all the time. A 346lb dude threw a touchdown this last season.

Soccer is literally just kicking the stupid ball around a giant field until you get it to your best shooter so he can maybe get lucky and win the game 1-0 after six hours of running all over the ridiculously oversized pitch.

CHI

please fuck off with this "soccer is just kicking a dumb ball around for 90 minutes" shit. it's ok to accept that you don't understand the strategy/intricacies of a sport that you never played or studied seriously.

>A 346lb dude threw a touchdown this last season
wow what a great accomplishment.

The school sports system is garbage and wont work in football. Football academies around the world have dedicated world class youth academies that literally provides academic and sports schooling for the players. You arent going to develop in a shitty high school or college system

>they drop to the floor and start crying like bitches if anyone so much as taps their shoulder

Part of the game unfortunately, Spain is the worst where diving and tactical fouls are rampant yet widely accepted as valid tactics

Probably because set pieces and penalisations are so important in football as opposed to American sports. A single penalty or even free kick can decide a game

USA is the best at the Olympics.

>game ends 0-0
>not even uncommon
>muh complex """"sport""""
K

It is considering he is also fast enough at that weight to catch your dumb ass before ripping your arms out of your sockets.

Don't say there's no new strategies and whatnot when new things happen all the time.

so now I'm fighting against them? Just think of how retarded your whole argument is.

good post.

>implying shitskins are people

Are you implying you're not human, 60% heritage fag?

>Football academies around the world have dedicated world class youth academies that literally provides academic and sports schooling for the players.

The sport is also popular enough there that the players' parents don't have to pay for those academies. Over here it's $25,000 to $50,000 per year for a kid to go to one of those academies, and no sane parent is going to go for that.

A high school football coach may not be as good as the theoretical "academy" equivalent, but he's way more trained, experienced, and educated on his sport than his soccer counterpart, who is often just a random teacher stuck into the slot to fulfill their title IX requirements. US Soccer should at the very least be making the effort to raise the quality of American youth soccer in such a way that younger players are actually encouraged to stick with it, rather than be driven off by being asked to pay for the privilege.

damn dude. why you gotta be like that.

>Don't say there's no new strategies and whatnot when new things happen all the time.
That's fair. But if you say that, you should also refrain from generalising about "soccer" when you evidently don't watch it. I don't watch American Football and I so I can't comment on the intricacies of the game, but that should go both ways. To say "soccer" is just kicking the ball around until it finds your best shooter is just wrong. It's an extremely tactical sport; defending, drawing opponent players out of position, creating spaces for teammates to exploit with runs, using physicality and strength to win the midfield battle, and often looking for ways to retain possession instead of go on attacks, in order to preserve a lead.

Thank (You).

NFL is really dependent in refs. Most sports give a slightly better chance for the opponent to score/do something (hockey power play, basketball free throw) where in the NFL the refs will straight up give them something. More yards, automatic first down, free play, etc. You could have a team all but ready to punt when the ref decides he doesn't like that look you gave him so here's an automatic 4 more tries and 15 yards.

>yuropoors and spics make fun of us for not having good soccer players
>PULIGOD
Then this
How will the world ever recover?

Their good athletes go to other sports. If they did play all the same sports (rugby, soccer) with the intensity that they play football or basketball, they might dominate.

Alternatively, they might treat it like the world baseball classic and say fuck it to international matches.

Might not be on topic but: how do I get into watching American Football?

Kids play it when they're like 6 and than move on to better sports

>2 medals for footbal
>literally 117 medals for dopingswim and niggerdopingrun

Because they have an exceptionalism complex that drives them away from sports that other nations play.

Play Madden

Practice watching these over and over again until you get it

good thread.

americans are stupid and fat

I don't have a console box sadly.
I chuckled. I guess I'll just start watching the AFL.

These are considered "games" in the US, like something you do in the backyard if you're having a bbq.

too much chemically processed estrogen filled food

Athetics is not sport.
Anyway, per capita your results are rubbish

>Athetics is not sport.
What is it then?

Alternative Sports.

Basketball and baseball have solid international followings

they just aren't soccer big, no other sport really is

That sounds autistic.

Different kinds of swimming and running is pretty autistic.

no more than any other Anglo spinoff nation (Canada with Hockey, Australia with AFL etc)

shout out to the per capita meme

This is basically how baseball is seen here.

What is the difference for you between "sport" and "alternative sport" then?

Because americans are afraid of competition, they have the biggest ego so when they lose something internationally they fall in depression. So they dont compete internationally to get the illusion they are the best at something only them compete.

You're not, it's just that the american media doesn't care about int sports.

not really true

we're a big country and can support our own sports domestically without needing to find competition abroad

we still come out and get excited about the WC every 4 years even if we always end up with a mediocre finish

>implying there's a world outside of america

what do they teach you in texas?

Funny how you conveniently left basketball out when it's more internationally relevant than half of those sports

>7-1

Maybe if you're retarded

Boxing is probably the most global sport and USA is historically #1 in that
