My mistake. While we're talking about rivals in the AAC:
ECU almost got 3peat over VA tech in 2016, and hasn't been beaten by a team in NC is over 5 years.
Hell, ECU put 70 points on the board against UNC, the most anyone has EVER scored against the Tarheels.
Last year was the year USF should have finally knocked FSU off; they had all the ingredients, but it didn't work out.

I think football and basketball fund all of the other sports through TV money and attendance. Every other sport fails to break even but schools have to include them because Title IX mandates equal numbers of female and male sports.
The question really is why do the TV networks want to shell out big money to teams like Duke which perform no better than any other team in the country?
The amount of money Duke and other P5 basement dwellers get from TV is ridiculous when you consider these teams probably couldn't even beat G5 teams making half that amount.
I don't think this problem will be fixed until someone besides the schools themselves starts scheduling non-conference games. Currently there is no reason for any P5 team to play any good G5 team.
