It's not so bad in the suburbs. The town I'm in was rated highly on some list of the top 100 small communities in the US to live in, if I remember correctly. The inner city here is rarely worth going to. You want a reason to be there and you should be gone by dark. Most places aren't bad but you do not want to be inside the perimeter at night.
