The reason it's not contained in the west is because (hopefully) it's not an intrinsically western thing. The enlightenment itself, which all modern western political philosophy is based on, was not intrinsically western either. I mean, liberalism, materialism, egalitarianism, etc aren't cultural qualities of the west, but ones that were just sort of picked up and embraced. Western civ existed for a long ass time before the enlightenment, and a longer time yet before this postmodern age of globalism.
So it's not cultural things that the rest of the world is picking up from the west, it's philosophical and social trends, which are separate from culture. So for india or anywhere, it's hard to stop that influence.
I feel like all we can do is ride it out until the enlightenment meme ends. Hopefully the world doesn't implode on itself before then.
