I'm fucking sick of fucking movies for kids, i'm sick of power fantasies. Every single "well rated" recent movie is nothing else than power fantasies for weak minds, for males stuck in their insecurities.
I want a real fucking movie. Recommend me a real fucking movie.

Power fantasies are still more uplifting than masochistically dwelling in your insecurities like a slave. Master morality loves heroism and the epic.
Dominic Reyes
>Master morality loves heroism and the epic. ma nigga.
why are progressives so uncomfortable with heroic epics unless the heroes quip?
Nolan Robinson
Epics are objectively the master race of movies

The critical reception of Marvel films vs. DC films of course
Since DC is unabashedly conservative and the heroes don't quip, it's upsetting to liberals for some reason

Josiah Taylor
isn't it simpler to just accept that DC movies are reviled because they've been consistently and unapologetically bad ever since TDK?
Joshua Diaz
Instead of a movie, try a film

Has there ever been a worse non-argument than invoking "insecurities"? There is literally nothing that cannot be interpreted as an "insecurity". And even if you could discern them, nobody ever explains how it is bad. Who's responsible for this shit? Dr Fraud?
Benjamin Peterson
No, because they're nowhere near as bad as review aggregates would lead one to believe.
Jaxson Gray
Second that.

Mate, you do know its only pretentious teenagers and children who like that movie right?
Like as a film it fails on pretty much every standard of filmmaking. Its actually really impressive that so much money could go toward producing so incompetent. I mean even the transformers movies have some technical aptitude. Batman V Superman doesn't even have that. It really is just so lacking in every facet.
Lucas Barnes
Comfy movie.

I had the exact same thing happen a few weeks ago, I've never really been super "into" movies. I used them pretty much for the same reason you listed OP, simple power fantasies. I never tried to explore movies in the same way I did with music - pushing my own boundries and going beyond my own comfort zone.
This happened while I was watching Mad Max Fury Road for the 2nd time. I wanted more from the films I watched. I wanted movies that challenged me as a viewer, went beyond and tried new things. Movies like Persona, Mirror and 12 Angry men (just some of my favourites of my sorta binge of RateYourMusic's highest rated films) I have extensively adored, and actually wanted to watch more times - something I've actually never really done before with movies.
I'm still trying to watch as many films as I can, and so far I'm loving it.
Ayden Ross
