It's a manga that's been running for 20+ years now, and it's pretty incredible. One of the things that's most interesting about it, is that the author has basically reinvented himself in his style several times throughout the series, while still keeping it true to its roots. During the first 10 volumes (referred to collectively as the "Golden Age" arc), it's basically gritty 80s style manga of purely dark medieval warfare, becoming borderlined historical fiction. but in volumes 11-12+ literally hell opens up and pours itself onto earth evil dead style but in a completely serious manner. Over the next ~5 volumes you have every bit of bad in his world corrupted and risen to full blown demonic rape-fests; corrupt priests burning everyone at the stake, packs of roving goblins kidnapping women, raping and impregnating them to make more monsters, an evil god-emporer who tries to take over the world etc. It then turns into a traditional swords/sorcery fantasy where Guts assembles a team of rag-tag heroes to destroy the five God Hands of hell, one of whom was his best friend and rival during the Golden Age.

Hello friend. How are you?

...

I really don't like the direction muira has taken for the last 30 chapters. They feel a lot more like your average grimdark manga than the brutal world berserk used to be.

Hello hello.
Doing good.
What's new with you?

Do you ever miss the original feel of the series, to the point where the newer two versions feel out of character because of how different they are? Would you still consider Berserk a good series, if it had just stopped with the end of the Golden Age arc? Have there been downsides for you, with the change in direction? Thanks.

Hello Hello user! Doing good! please continue to poast :)

most enjoyable!

Drinking schnapps for the first time. Es bien. Tired as heck though

Still haven't been able to check out your anime recommendations.

Built some furniture for my mom. She liked that.

How was your day?

hey guys! what's up?

Griffith is about to show up and kill someone in the dream world. He has proven that he can enter people dreams multiple times already. Hell dreams are his specially. Even zodd got fucking sliced in his dream and then actually lost his horn in the real world. RIP farnese. At least Serpico will be mad and become a bad motherfucker.

Not op. I think the series should have ended when Griffith transformed. Everything after that is just boring and predictable.

He does a great job almost every night.

Hola amigo. Cas here. Como esta?

I agree, it still has the dark and depressive themes, but as you said, the brutality is mostly gone.
I'm still holding out hope that it'll return.
I do, I think it hit its peak with the Lost Children Arc, some would argue that Golden Age is better which is a valid point, it just depends on what you think Berserk should be about. I like the darker, edgier Berserk that came a little later as opposed to the medieval Berserk. I still think Golden Age is amazing, though.
I wouldn't say they feel out of character, Guts is a lot more quiet and reserved now, partially due to being with a lot of outgoing party members, but also because life has really beaten him down and the Berserker armor is taking a massive toll on him. The series' tone has changed a lot, but it felt really gradual, more that it grew into what it is now naturally.
I still consider it a good series. A lot of people don't because it's not as good as it used to be, which I agree with, but it's still really good in my opinion.
If it had stopped at the Golden Age, I think it still would have been very good. I think the Eclipse would've been a good ending point, albeit with many loose ends. If they didn't have the Eclipse, but had Griffith obtain his castle in a less fantasy way, and tied up loose ends, it would've been a very good stopping point to a great series.
For me the downsides are the new characters, I like Schierke a lot, and her relationship with Guts both from a character dynamic point of view and a plot point of view, with her facilitating Guts' use of the Berserker armor. I'm not a fan of Isidoro or Retarded Casca.
I do like Farnese and Serpico, but maybe as people they meet often, not party members. Overall the series has toned down a lot, I miss the dark, bloody, edgy Guts with Puck, drawn correctly, as the only comedy relief to show the stark contrast between the two.
What about you?

Thanks user!
I'll do my best, thanks for the kind words!
Nice, nice, what'd you build?
Nothing crazy on my day, just worked on my model.
Hey Zer0!
Not much, ^ working on my model, got step 1 of 35 done.
You?

Oh shit new chapter is out, that reminded me.
I'd be really okay with Farnese dying then Serpico going crazy. Then Serpico dying.
I'll post new chapter tomorrow, too.

...

Which model is that? More tanks?

Should say assembled. It was a desk and chair.

Can someone red pill me on the Dragon Slayer?

It's an M1A2.
Nice, always nice to have a desk and chair.

The Dragon Slayer is too big to be called a sword. Too big, too thick, too heavy and too rough. It's more like a large slab of iron.

...

...

...

...

...

...

Ok, then how does one wield it?

...

Somewhere it's stated to be over 400 lbs, so you'd have to be able lift that much. Often times Guts is seen swinging it by planting his back leg driving the sword from back to front, using its own momentum to help him swing it in an arc. But of course there are times he uses it like a normal sword "because it looks cool."
The times when he's seen using it relatively practically are what you should be going off of.
So if you can at least bring it up to your shoulders and carry it like that, you'd be able to swing it downwards and let its weight do most of the work.

End of Chapter 184 and end of dump for tonight

bump

Thanks for dumping too tired to talk

Sleep well and have a pleasant tomorrow
