technically an EP but fuck you

not that crap. literally lustmord bass boosted

actually true, but still doesn't make it less dark. definitely more anxiety inducing than lustmord also. that said, dark ambient is kind of cheating

2spooky4me

This is pretty dark desu

>yfw that's the shape of north america

...

spooky as shit
pretty dark
pretty comfy actually

...

either
Olhon - Sinkhole

or
Keith Berry - The Ear That Was Sold to a Fish

one of those did a good job of spooking me but i don't remember which. in any case they're both good imo

...

i find the ear that was sold to a fish very soothing, something about those high-pitched noises desu

Diamanda Galas - The Divine Punishment

This is the correct response.

Great album but damn I feel kind of messed up after.

His vocals make all of his work unintentionally funny. Scott Walker cultists are tryhard hipsters.

Using the recording of his actual suicide attempt in the opening track is pretty dark. Not sure if the latest vinyl edition comes with the same book the original CD did, but reading the book makes the album significantly darker. You can tell that he was in a legitimately horrible place when this was written/recorded.

Additionally, I went to both of the east coast Have A Nice Life shows this year and talked to Dan after each and he basically further confirmed that the material written on this album and around that time period (2006-2009) was his outlet while truly losing his mind and endlessly contemplating suicide. It shows much more on this Giles Corey record than Deathconsciousness (especially in the book) so, overrated and memed to death (on Sup Forums) or not, I'd say this is a pretty damn good contender for darkest album.

...

His baroque pop stuff is better anyway

yeah this one gives me chills every time

Black is the darkest color

Why so? I think his voice actually matches the style of the album. Anyway, Bisch Bosch is better than The Drift.

Obviously most black metal is pretty dark, but something about Hvis Lyset Tar Oss is hauntingly dark.

Good choices as well.

you know it to be true, Sup Forums.

I imagine most people can't even make it through this album in one sitting.

and now he's a normie with a wife and kid living in an idyllic new england countryside home

good album tho and nice trips

FUCKING STEREOTYPE

It's depressive not really dark.
I think OP means eerie, messed up and creepy by dark.

I did. Am I cool?

You are cool to me anyways : )

>Using the recording of his actual suicide attempt in the opening track is pretty dark
Wait what

meant to respond to

who here /listenedallthewaythrough/
it hurt me

If dark means fucked up... I'd suggest that Buyer's Market album (i'm too lazy to find the image), though i'm sure there's probably worse out there.

A three way tie between
(In alphabetical order)
Alice in Chains-Dirt
Black Flag-Slip It In
Black Sabbath-Paranoid

He wasn't trying to kill himself but he says in the booklet that he recorded the first track while wearing a "voors head device" which is a bag placed over the head to restrict breathing and its supposed to simulate near death experiences or some shit

...

>this man was a school teacher

listening to this in 1 sitting made me feel weird

Really?

the cure - pornography
not the darkest, but quite dark

trying to pick just one is a meme

This is the darkest album with lyrics that made an impression on me in the long run

Haha...funny that it's called a 'device' when it's just a bag that goes over ones head :-P

You seen the VCR Live video?

What's the darkest album? Anything by former Mickey Mouse Club members :-P

jesus, what a pretentious faggot, shoulda kill himself

youtube.com/watch?v=F3pOEbhinek

Did he? I've always thought the person narrating the booklet was just a character, sure the story and emotions were coming from his actual depression and inspired all the work but I didn't think of it a 1:1 corrispondence

I came here to post this, glad I read the thread first.

Are you serious? That's like over 4 hours. Although I do think it's pretty comfy listening on headphones at night, but like 45 min at a time

Oh yeah I'm pretty sure that it's not actually true I'm just saying that's the story he gave about the song that the first poster was referring to

...

yeah it was pretty ridiculous
went in2 like a trance lol part of it was just seeing if i had the willpower 2 do it

something Gnaw Their Tongues did

also Vomit Arsonist - Meditations on Giving Up Completely (youtube.com/watch?v=r9YV7kd2fQI) that came out this year is pretty dark and great, if anyone wants from 2017 darkness.

this is cool thx

it's like, how much more black could this be? and the answer is none

I heard some fucked up shit about this, can anyone explain what is it about?

I haven't heard that record but it's Whitehouse so I'm gonna go ahead and guess sexual violence?

It's a concept album about domestic violence. It has lyrics about beating women and molesting children

Yeah i heard it was about child abuse or that it had some fucked up samples, too scared to listen to it (or maybe it was another album with those samples idk)
wew, so i was right about the child abuse.

here's an industrial album about the artist's desire for revenge against her rapist.
