The one to help me out the most with following issue wins.

I need a lightweight laptop that I can use daily on the train for LaTeX writing, qtiplot calculations and minor coding, let's say the weight limit is 1.5kg.
Was thinking of ThinkPads but other brands are appreciated as well, just want something that is robust and can last me several years without the need to upgrade.
A good keyboard and 1080p nonglare display would be nice, budget is maxmimum 900$

I have a G3 HP Elitebook with 250GB SSD. Very impressed.

I don't think the keyboard is quite as good as the G2 or Thinkpads, but it's not bad. Battery life is very good.

I believe not. The normal one with the touchscreen has an intel Core-M 6Y30 (bad)
while the non touch screen ones have either an intel i5 or i7. depending on what you pick.
