Coffee is terrible to get stuck on. I think one of the worse depression streaks in my life was coffee. A lot of stuff that was imported for a few years recently a bit a while ago was admittedly kind of fucked up, was in a some news outlets international ones, which was weirdly a bit after the time where I felt sick as fuck drinking a ton of it then which would of put it in the right time frame for that kind of news. Cigs are a creature comfort that are the most addictive thing anyone can touch, you're life will never be the same if you get addicted to it and quit. Nothing will make your blood pressure spike and want to punch someone as giving it up. You crave it no matter what. The cravings never stop no matter how long you quit. When you get your sense of smell back you notice it from really far off and just want to do it again. Don't start on it.
Alcohol is alright if you're setting camp and hunkering down without a super important objective, it's depressive but more of a long term thing where you're mood steadily gets shittier and generally improves when you quit it. Quitting it is easier than other things because of the hang over and not having your motor functions impaled.

There should not be an argument. You legalize all drugs and offer it for free to those who want it while also providing education on how to appropriately use and facilities to help those that wish to rid them self of addiction. Places like Spain and Sweden have done this and they have next to no drug related crimes and very few drug related deaths.
