Why the hell does nobody ever talk about this? It's great

I like it. But it was an acquired taste and most people probably won't get it.
it's so goooooood
>heat distraction
masterpiece
s/t is honestly just as good, however, it lacks the flow that public strain has.
underrated guitar playing on this thing. rip.
I think I might be the only fan of this album that likes Narrow With The Hall more than any of the others
One of the last really great guitar albums in a long time
THEY WILL BREAK ANOTHER
AND ANOTHER
>the outro on Eyesore
fucc
oh yeah man so fucking good. I also fucking love bells
penal colony transitioning into bells is godly

post performances
this shit really wasn't recorded in a studio? fantano interviewed the lead singer and he said it was self recorded
i mean it sounds it but i wonder why they didn't want to get it professionally recorded. sounds great anyway though
yeah its crazy, the set up must have been pretty decent. even for something so noisy and seemingly lo-fi, it seems flawlessly produced with everything about it being intentional.
I believe Chad Vangaalen helped them record at his place
would love to know the equipment they used for it
oh yeah i had heard that
what am i missing if i think the s/t is significantly better?
they do
literally when
nothing really
I think public strain has more of a sour, oppressive atmosphere that a lot of people are drawn to
no i just genuinely haven't seen it posted on here before
Sorry I deleted that because the typo was pissing me off. I don't know I see it brought up a lot in chart threads, this board is how I was introduced to them, I just kinda figured this board universally liked them.
It's posted here semi-frequently and is generally well received in threads like these
i mean i guess they do but i haven't seen many threads about it recently
i guess
Anything similar to Public Strain? I believe it helps me numb the pain from all the times i was a pussy to ask a girl out. Or it might be just my delusions but nvm
Maybe checkout Telstar Drugs?
god every picture like that just makes me feel so fucking sad
at least check out their s/t and Viet Cong
Grandeur of Hair comes to mind for some reason. its much more abrasive and noisy but songs like Windowpane and Golden Stair remind me of it in some way. the less noisy parts of certain songs kind of put me in a similar atmosphere as public strain.
One of the only critically acclaimed bands from my corner of the world.
ought - sun coming down.
similar guitars and drums but way less noisy
yeah it's great being from calgary and realizing these guys started here
we have braids also :)
This Heat - Deceit
an album they obviously took a lot of inspiration from
Fantano gave it a 9, and people don't want to be associated with an alt-right reviewer
Are they any good?
it's old and the guitarist overdosed on heroin
mu used to talk abt it when it was relevant
What fantastic cover art, might just check it out based on that alone
If you like the guitar playing on say the second track, listen to Palm- Trading Basics. Its full of that. Really great stuff
damn this is pretty cool, any background on the band?
rip chris
literally 10/10 album
thoughts on this & cindy lee in general?
yeah honestly one of the best albums I've ever heard, seriously
I LOVE! Cindy Lee. By far some of my two favorite albums from the decade, more Women fans need to know about Pat's project. A lot of similar, sad, noisey sensibilities can be heard in Cindy Lee.
Malenkost is great, but Act of Tenderness is a little more cohesive and better, I'd say. I think since Pat's been picked up by a label, Act of Tenderness will be available on Spotify alongside Malenkost soon
I liked Tatlashea a lot. Act of Tenderness I'll have to listen to again. Haven't heard it in a while but it didn't grab me like Tatlashea did. Haven't heard this Malenkost yet.
heart condition
yes honestly Tatlashea is still my favourite, Head Down brought me to tears
Because Viet Cong's debut was better, and Viet Cong/Preoccupations is basically Women 2.0.
Set Pieces and Native Speaker were amazing. Flourish // Perish is also really good but should've been released under Raphaelle's side project Blue Hawaii imo. It just doesn't fit as a Braids album and isn't as good as Native Speaker.
Deep in the Iris and Companion are also really good but still, nothing quite compares to Native Speaker.
They peaked with Native Speaker in my opinion but the rest of their discography is still good. Some of the lyrics on Deep in the Iris are a bit cringeworthy, though.
remember when they had that huge fight on stage?
rememebr when Women and Times New Roman were supposed to blow up to Arcade Fire levels and be the 'best new thing'?
good times.
I saw them back when they were called The Neighborhood Council.
They were really good, they each had to be like 16 or 17. They looked really young and were having a lot of fun. Now they're all sad and serious and Katie left the band. :(
literally the greatest pop album of all time, pat flegel is a unrecognized, musical genius
