Albums that aren't afraid of themselves

What's the verdict?
Why is it so dead in here? Where is everybody?
I don't do 3x3s or 4x4s and so on, but I don't think that covering over 25% of it with a single band is good.
Here's some obscure BG clones you might enjoy.

garbage band
There is literally nothing wrong with power metal.
t. afraid of himself
imagine being genuinely into this stuff
>covering over 25% of it with a single band is good
If someone says their top albums it probably means their most listened in the last 7 days and a 4x4 can be easily generated from your Last.fm which is why these often feature non-metal albums like that guy having Mobb Deep in here
Sounds very afraid of itself
Alcoholic Desecration
Hey I'm kinda new to metal. Got anything you can start me off with?
>Frakass
>Vaginal Jesus
>The Raunchous Brothers

I see someone's been checking out the far-right Metal chart.
What's your idea of a good Metal band?
What are you into currently?
Well friends turned me on to meshuggah. Been mainly listening to that. Trying to avoid anything too experimental for now.

judas priest
If you're not afraid of the old stuff, the average route is
1. traditional/heavy metal—Black Sabbath, Judas Priest, Motorhead, Iron Maiden, Dio, Mercyful Fate
2. thrash—Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, etc. If you don't like it, then you probably should explore power/speed or doom
Then it depends on which part you liked
3-a: death metal—Death, Bolt Thrower, Morbid Angel, etc
3-b: black metal—Darkthrone, Burzum, Mayhem, etc.
If you feel you don't like even step 1, consider hard rock, stoner or sludge
Thanks. Saved it.
Idk bro. Shit sounded good to me. But I'll get a little educated and revisit it.
Actually listened to a little of judas priest. Will listen to more.
Always good to know the history right? I'll check it out. Heard there was a debatable big 4. These some of them?
Considering that it's a power metal thread I can recommend this

Straight forward and heavy metaly
FALL TO YOUR KNEES AND REPENT IF YOU PLEASE ;)
Helloween are the only power metal band I've ever liked. What are some bands similar to them?
rob is daddy af
What does /metal/ think about this bitch?
>Saved it.
Just so you know, it's a joke chart…
I'd advice you to listen to these albums first:
Black Sabbath—Paranoid, Vol.4 (if you haven't yet)
Motorhead—Overkill
Venom—Black Metal
Judas Priest—Painkiller
Slayer—Reign in Blood
Death—Symbolic
Darkthrone—Transilvanian Hunger
These work great as introduction to metal.
>Heard there was a debatable big 4. These some of them?
Yep. Big 4 of thrash were Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer and Anthrax. Definitely what everyone should hear to undestand thrash and genres that followed it (death and less so black metal). Metallica's first 3 albums, Megadeth's Peace Sells and Rust in Peace, Slayer's Reign in Blood.
Fuck, my bad. Didn't read the "power metal edition" sorry to derail. Song was pretty cool. I'll have to check out more.

So Euro Power Metal or US Power Metal, folks?
I have no doubt most of you will know of the endless debates between American vs. European Power Metal, but for the uninitiated, USPM is a style of melodic Heavy/Speed Metal more polished than either of its parents, but rougher, more aggressive and riff-driven than its European counterpart*. Some USPM also owes its inspiration to Prog Rock.
European PM bequeathed Flower Metal, which as the title implies, is super slick PM with keyboards and other saccharine shit; not that it's necessarily bad, but it's usually quite excessive. This is usually the reason Euro PM past the '80s/early '90s is lambasted by Americans.

*Keep in mind the early German scene had plenty of rough sounding Power Metal (the debut albums of Scanner, Running Wild, Helloween and Blind Guardian), but in the mid '90s, the scene changed immensely.
...
USPM, but mostly for the fact that it's usually darker sounding instead of just being American. There are plenty of German power/speed metal bands like Grave Digger or Paragon (even early Blind Guardian) with a similar sound to stuff like Iced Earth.
Fitting that your post ends in 88.

Flower metal when I really need to boost my spirits, pure PM any other time.
youtube.com
A European(Norwegian) act, but clearly isn't flowery.
Why do people hate Converge here again? I don't get it. Are you kids too young to remember why people gave metalcore shit in the 2000s just like how you guys also hate anything technical now because you forgot what the term wank was reserved for as well?
As a genre, Tech Death is boring and banal.
As far as Metalcore is concerned, the only band I ever liked was Rorschach, and they weren't strictly Metalcore. They were an erratic combination of spazzy Powerviolence, Metalcore and even Thrash to a degree.
personally I love converge
that guy is memeing hard
everyone knows Violet Cold is basically the peak of black metal
>As a genre, Tech Death is boring and banal
Sure, if you listen to like, Necrophagist who do overly melodic work or brutal death bands that just play cliche death metal riffs really fast or bands like Obscura who just didn't have any intensity in their music with pointless instrumentals. That's who the hate had always been reserved for. Now all of a sudden any band that does or did creative approaches to intense/or heavy riff attacks like Gorguts, Anata, Ulcerate, Pyrrhon, etc. all get shit for it.
>hey were an erratic combination of spazzy Powerviolence, Metalcore and even Thrash to a degree.
So...kinda like Converge who are an erratic combination of the more intense aspects of hardcore and metal? Kinda like a lot of other metalcore ranging from Acme to Creation Is Crucifixion to Catharsis who all bring their own unique approach? Again, the hatred for metalcore was reserved for 2000s melodic metalcore for essentially consisting of At The Gates/generic death metal riffs (some being literal ATG ripoffs) in between monotonous breakdowns made in an overly sterile production environment. It's that formulaic and sterile nature of the music that made it bad. Of course, not all metalcore has ever been close to that, and only a couple years back metalcore used to be freely discussed here, too that didn't fit that one negative stereotype.
