The US bases are not THAT powerful or well-equipped.
It's like the bases in Germany they're always pissing and crying about. The sum total of staff there is around ~50,000 - 55,000, if you scrape the barrel and include British Forces Germany as well. It's less than a third the size of the Bundeswehr, and there are more bases closing every year.
So long as you're in NATO it makes little sense to object to their presence, because the sum effect of foreign policy in the event you're attacked will be the exact same.
I'm not saying I particularly like it either, but people get really hysterical about it and post a lot of nonsense divorced from reality.
