Can one truly play good lead on a 7.25 radius?

yes but i suggest you get jumbo frets

>not lazy gay guitarists edition

>knobs on pickguard
not sure if like

>tfw only a Gibson™ is good enough

Can you explain a little? Just a beginner here :)

hee hee hee

my new one

jumbo frets allow for you to not have to press down on the fret too hard and allow for easier bending as well which is what you want on lead

i play a 7.25" radius guitar with medium jumbo frets they're nice

>It's Not That Hard To Make A New Thread Edition

nobody wants this general around anymore.

Okay so quick rundown of what I'm doing.
>Got this Cort Strat used for $20
>Bought some cheap guitar parts from Ebay to repair it
>Goal is to make it look like the one I designed with Halo's website without spending more than $150 on it so I can take it out of the house and not worry too much about what happens to it
This is what it used to look like

This really looks like a piece of shit, doesn't it?

Well first I started by reshaping the headstock and adding the locking nut for the Floyd

Here's the body after repairing the damaged wood (Green paste on the edge) and the holes for the Floyd studs are drilled. You can notice I'm a fucking retard because I had to fill them three times before getting it right.

...

Neat. Keep going.

>tfw too scared to play in front of anyone

play in front of your pets to build up confidence.

i once played in front of 150 people accidentally, it was pretty chill

>accidentally

How did you cut the dowel to fill the peg hole so exact?

yeah

it was a silent movie festival and i worked out a soundtrack for some short-film. thought that 10 people would come, but then it was a fucking huge crowd

...

Just do it faggot. The rush is amazing.

Well shit that's pretty neat. Guess you got some practice in for performing.

Excuse the mess.
Floyd is installed and by some miracle I didn't fuck up the string alignment so all that's left to do is the paintjob and intonation once everything else is done.
(I prewired the pickguard, need to get a new killswitch because the one I used was old and doesn't work.)

More to come soon, still trying to find a brand that sells the correct tone of surf green in cans because I don't have a spray gun.

Thanks mate.

Sanded some wood from the part of the headstock that I cut off just a little smaller than the hole and some wood glue did the rest.

Buying an expensive guitar and never doing anything to it besides playing because you're afraid its value will drop is boring. You're boring.

back then i was a pretty greehorn, but when you are on stage you play just like a drowning man to survive

Graceys sells a nice surf green but they're kind of expensive

i think curtis novak sells very accurate cans of surf green

Yeah there's only so much you can do to prepare for the nerves you get while performing, short of doing it a lot. I guess we can take some solace in the fact that many legendary artists had different levels of stage fright themselves, yet managed to be amazing in spite of it.

>never doing anything to it besides playing it
lmao yea God forbid right

>/gg/ in a nutshell

>Special paint for guitars
Nah user getting regular spray cans, remember I'm trying to stay below $150 and I'm already at like $135.
Also I probably can't find those brands in my country and shipping will take forever, not to mention I have to pay for it too.

This is where this thread starts going to shit. Mark my words. Not even giving you a (you).

He stopped selling them a long time ago, I think Guitar Reranch has some but I'm not sure if they deliver them in cans.

...

That's probably going to be hard to find. Your closest bet would be finding Auto paint cans for mini Coopers, they're the only cars I've seen in those colors (besides classic cars).

>This is where this thread starts going to shit. Mark my words. Not even giving you a (you).
He's right though
With that kind of attitude you might as well just be building model airplanes or something

not gundams?

Local paint store has something like the green to the left but I need something like the one in the right.

Not having this discussion again. I don't understand why you goddamn mongoloids care what other people do with their money/instruments/property.
I thought Samuel was the worst shitposter here but actually he's got nothing on you "If it isn't made in the US it's shit, why even bother with that shitplank" faggots.

guitar is dark souls of musical instruments

Should I be using Justin Guitar for learning electric and how long until I'm less shit

100 bpm is where you start to sound good

>in my country
kek there it is

What would people suggest on the lines of designing a custom guitar? Go to a builder for the neck or try it all on my own?

Only attempt to make a neck from scratch if you don't mind wasting a lot on materials like the truss rod and the fretwire. You will most likely fuck it all up your first 8 times.

red pill me duo-sonic

Are you a woman or a homosexual twink "playing" in a shoegaze band?

Post what you're currently GASing for.

I got a white one with the traditional pickups. It screams through my Princeton on the bridge pickup close to the strings, and has a nice warm sound in the neck for jazzy stuff. It's super light, and aesthetically pleasing. \easy to set up. Responsive tone knob. Actual maple fretboard. I don't get the deal with Fender Mexico doing rosewood boards with skunk stripes. Japan didn't do that.

24" scale is just comfortable to me, as I also have a Jaguar and a Gretsch Jim Dandy.

>also have a jaguar
>and a dandy

You can't make this up.

i want a the heritage les paul.

Honestly, this was fun at first when I thought you might have actually figured it out, but at this point it's obvious you're just another retard who couldn't find his ass with both hands and a flashlight.

I really did purposely leave a trail of breadcrumbs and any reasonably intelligent person should be able to figure out who I really am though. You're certainty not one of those people, but it was fun while it lasted ;^)

should i get an amp stand?

you should probably get a lobotomy

...

I'm like Xasthur, bruh.

I'm not going to kill myself but I'll make legitimate suggestions why you should consider suicide.

how do I get to 1 bpm

/meal/ crossposters should be banned

>/meal/ crossposters should be banned

is youcisian any good as a learning tool? Its pretty fun

just found out ace frehley uses dean markley strings currently
web.archive.org/web/20130715053154/http://www.guitargeek.com:80/ace-frehley-guitar-rig-and-gear-setup-2010/

>currently
>2010

What should be my next guitar? Another Martin (D28 probably) or a twelve string?

2010 is pretty recent, the other interview i could find he talkd bout strings was from the mid 70s

a proper bearclaw spruce top guitar instead of that mudcaster

>tfw anti-virus ate your GP keygen

caring about ace frehley

I think that should go to the Violin or something. Guitar isn’t really that hard.

Maybe the Bloodbourne of instruments.

>be on Sup Forums for the first time in a few months
>come to /gg/
>he's still at it

lmao

Guitar is too easy for that comparison

I made a promise!

I've got no problems playing in front of crowds, although it's not something I necessarily seek out.
Tbh I get MUCH more nervous playing in front of 1-3 people.

> mahogany bodied acoustic

vomit.

I was ecstatic when I finally got rid of my mahogany Fender Newporter.

>Mastodon's Kelliher: I Left Gibson Because They Treat Artists Like Shit. That Company Is Falling Apart
ultimate-guitar.com/news/interviews/mastodons_kelliher_i_left_gibson_because_they_treat_artists_like_shit_that_company_is_falling_apart.html

>They don't care about your tuning
>They don't care about what gauges you're using
>They can't get simple requests right

>Gibson™ basically told some "literally who" meal babby to fuck off

I learn to love Gibson® more and more every day ;^)

The guitar "industry" is imploding

youtube.com/watch?v=oIscL-Bjsq4

If 3/4th (or more) of the Indo Ibanez had actual set-up, if it had 12" to 16" copound radius and stainless steel frets it'd be perfect. Well, mostly if Indo Ibanez workers didn't keep fucking up every single time.

this is the truth, guitars are so fucking over

>implying eric johnson doesn't use strats more often than not

>he went with those esp bootlickers anyway
descredited

Doesn't most of Gibson's revenue come from non-guitar shit like consumer electronics? They're not even a real guitar company anymore.

I have a 2000 mexican Fender Strat and I hate the pickups, any recommendations for replacements?

I usually play noise rock, progressive rock, psych rock, and jazz fusion.

Apparently steel stringed acoustics sell better than ever. I never got into these 2bh, I agree a lot with what Frank Gambale said about folk guitars (of course while discussing his own signature). The action is terrible, the frets ultra thin, the strings are absurdly stiff. They're made to sound good, loud with no buzz at the expense of playability. He talks about it from 8:25 onwards there.
>youtube.com/watch?v=4p_nSWIwmIo

Full credits to A Di Meola to be able to do what he does on folk guitars. I feel they're used more as song writing tools 2bh.

True. Already discussed it a handful of threads ago so I suppose there's no need to say it again in full details, but Gibson's decision making to me is incredibly awful.

No actually just skip to 11:00 for his point about how his guitar is set up compared to the average acoustic.

So why is Gibson™ such a sore spot with the Poorfa/gg/ Bri/gg/ade® then?

They're not really even a guitar company at this point anymore but any mention of the big "G" and the cryin' bitches start pouring out of the woodwork.

theyre still brainwashed by guitar magazine ads

probably ´coz they saw that YT video where it shows how horrible mass manufactered they are.
worse value for your money f am.

Perhaps there's a sense of resentment and sadness from seeing one of the biggest names in the industry selling poo for absurd amounts of money. Even if you hate the brand, it's never nice to see that kind of garbage happening.

Nah.

The truth is you all cry so hard is because you want one but you can't afford it.

Oh you don't, you say?

Then what are you crying about, bitch?

Quality control is shit, you say? Cool, don't buy one then. You don't want one anyway, remember?

Wait, why are you STILL crying?

Did I hear it's too expensive?!?

OH. NOW THERE'S THE PROBLEM.

I just started playing on Tuesday, is it normal to not have an incredibly hard time switching strings/frets and how long should it take before I get the hang of it?

Come back in 10 years

anyone got good right hand exercises or types for BASS

>is it normal to not have an incredibly hard time switching strings/frets
Stop playing with one finger Boss.

>how long should it take before I get the hang of it?
Did you hear about the 10.000 hours rule (that isn't a rule)? Well it's nonsense. The reality is that if you wait before you git gud to start getting in a band/recording and all that jazz, you won't play before years if not decades. There's always improvement to be made, even when you decide that you're "good enough". Keep going at it.

>the simplest of bait always bring reddit right to the surface
hilarious

The one finger thing seems pretty accurate, I have hard time processing what to do and then actually executing that, but I assume that will come with time. thanks for the response

i mean tips

What's the next step for me learning wise? I can play the basic chords and switch between them well (most of the time). Is the next path learning how to fingerpick well? I try from time to time but struggle to not miss them. Here is a reference point:
