>genre: rock/pop

you disgusting animal

ivcc.edu/stylebooks/stylebook4.aspx?id=14718

i do, but i don't fucking understand how someone could be such a braindead simian that they couldn't do it before uploading
fuck you if you don't capitalise

>Artist name is shortened or abbreviation

This isn't the late 00's blogspot era anymore, I expect people to actually give a shit about proper tags and artwork.

>"[320kbps MP3]"
>Only 1/3rd of the tracks is in 320kbps

There could easily be files from that time on our libraries though, and you have to assume most people don't bother organizing their music down to the filename format and cover resolution.

>genre: ”*name of the website you downloaded it from*”

I'm not THAT autistic about it like some people like I don't care about genre tagging. All I care about is proper tracklist spelled the way the artist/band intended with at least a 300x300 picture.

True fans do

pff everything 1200x1200 for me bro

Is uploading music considered niche now? I don't know a single person in my life (other than me) who downloads music.
I also noticed normies don't give a fuck about Bandcamp anymore, and it makes me sad.

>300x300
this is as lazy as you can get when it comes to album artworks because that is literally the size all album covers use on wikipedia

As much as I or anyone might agree with you, you still have to assume that there are no rules and the majoruty of people will do it differently than you.

This, new screens are usually 2560*1440 or more these days

normies stream these days

nah everyone i know who is into music has a library of pirated copies. except tech illiterates who are spoonfed by spotify.

>Download Punk/Noise Rock album
>Genre: Avant-Garde

>download album
>track title tags are in the "*tracknumber* - *tracktitle*" format

normies never gave a fuck about bandcamp

>download album
>track title and artist is mixed up

>title has a spelling error

>song title has the word "You're" in it
>it's mislabelled with "Your"

Was about to post this.

>download album
>exactly 3 tracks are without #

Holy shit, it should be punishable by death.

>download album
>no track numbers
>have to Google the tracklist and add the numbers manually just so you can listen to the album in the correct order

>download album
>all of the tags are in cyryllic

>the title of the song is Number - Artist - Album - Song

>genre: blues

>not learning the cyrilic alphabet so you can download obscure post-punk from shady russian blogs

>download album
>*tracktitle* tag contains track number

MLA capitalization is retarded. Why only capitalize nouns and verbs? Either capitalize all or capitalize only the first word and names.

>not using Google Translate to decipher shady russian blogs

>download an album of a sharethread
>the guy tagged everything correctly with a high res cover art
>if it was a foreign album the tracktitles are all in the original language
>no bonus tracks

>download an album
>my card mysteriously maxes

>genre: punk/alternative

>album is slightly sped up to an almost imperceptible degree
Stay vigilant folks

>share albums on soulseek 24/7
>get at least two-three messages from users saying "thanks bruh, much appreciated" every day
why you do this

>download discography
>mfw it's all gay porn

>not checking length of each track with rym/discogs before listening
that's your own fault buddy

>share my whole 300gigs library on slsk
>no-one downloads from me because of shitty internet

no tags
no filenames aside from track01, track02 etc

>download album
>wrong cover art
>try to fix it
>can't do it
>keep the album anyway
>mfw I listen to it and the wrong cover art shows up everytime

>download rap album
>genre: hip-hop

mp3tag, bro. Do you even use it?

Use MP3TAG user

I tried everything. It's like the cover's imprinted in the album's genetic code

I demand some sort of proof. In 10 years of collecting music i never had an issue like this.

Have you tried turning it off and on again user?

I got rid of it a long time ago. It was Currents by Tame Impala, and it had this "hacker screen" like image as the cover. Spent so much time trying to fix it, but couldn't. In the end, I listened to the album a few times and, realizing I didn't like it that much, deleted it.

>find a nice album
>no torrents
>no downloads
>too poor to buy it

Maybe it doesnt exist. Think about that.

>Genre: Alternative Rock

Reminds me of the Kazaa days

>Genre: Indie

oh no

Track title tags, not the filenames

>Lost album from pretty unknown artist with lots of album exclusive tracks on them
>Can't find the album anywhere online, only the standard edition
REEEEEing to this day

Dudes, have you ever tried to download an album so underground thay the only artwork is found in the folder at a 500x498?

>Genre: Dance

>>not every word in the tracklisting and the album title is capitalised
Every word capitalised in titles is disgusting.

>download an album

Are you using Foobar? If so I know the fix maybe

>enter thread
>ctrl+f "picard"
>0 results
Hah! MusicBrainz Picard is all y'all need. It fixes tags, can download covers and shit.

>Steal something and thus get it totally for free
>Complain that you got what you paid for

RMMT

>People are polite
>Why you do this

And this is why the world is a shitty place, because we actively discourage niceness

Really gets the noodle kaboodlin'

fuck off v/

makes me so fucking angry

This genuinely made me angry

>all the tracks are "Track Title (2015 remastered 20th anniversary edition)"

use musicbrainz picard for automatic sorting and correcting of downloaded albums. its free.

>download VA compilation off Bandcamp
>artist is the name of the label
>track titles are all "artist - actual track title"

bonus round
>all the tags aren't capitalised correctly or at all

this shit has happened to me too many times now

> Information about which remaster is in the album title tag
> Year tag is date of remaster
> Feature artists are in the artist tag for a song instead of in the song title

worst part is when your whole country is banned from albumartexchange so you can't get hi res album covers

But that's correct though.

>download album from rutracker
>music files are accompanied by really huge scans
>get to tag the track list as it appears on the physical copy
>also get to have a perfect 1000x1000 album cover after running it through Photoshop
>just waifu2x a google images album cover if I get music off soulseek and run that through PS too
this isn't hard.

>using albumartexchange
enjoy lossy jpegs

>192kbps
>soul seek

Why would anyone bother?

You don’t capitalize words like “The” or “A” or the like in things
Unless the packaging specifically does so I do this by default and stand by it

>feature artists aren’t listed in the song title of the album’s tracklisting on the packaging
>they are included in the filenames and metadata for some reason

Hah yeah man like 20 times!

Youre a fucking idiot. Go into the file, and highlight all the files in the folder. Right click go into properties & fucking turn off "Read only" there you go you fucking NORMIE holy shit

whats that?

>album cover is only available in 250x251
Pure suffering.

>Track titles have the band and album name in front of them
Fucking why

>download album
>tag it with picard
>manually add genre tags from rym
>get high res cover art via musicbee
theres no excuse for having improper tags

why dont you guys with sound cards just rip the shit off spotify in 320? You can input all the info you want and you don't have to worry about getting shitty, compressed versions

That's still a lossy->lossy transcode.

do you download in lossless? I honestly can't justify the huge file sizes

+ how much worse does the quality get?

I just edit it to 500x500 at that point

I hope the stuff I share is up to your standards anons. I always cross-check my stuff with the actual back of the albums... No one has complained yet

>buy time machine modulus EP
>poorly mastered and none of the files have any metadata
I'm serious btw.

You're denying the producer of that file the profits they would have made if you bought it.

>spend hours searching for album in flac
>finally find it on some russian website
>takes 4 hours to download because it's file sizes are unnecessarily large and there's 1 seeder
>sit down to listen to it
>loud cracking noises throughout the entire thing because it's a fucking vinyl rip even though the master is probably digital

Fuck you, you're going to make me paranoid

I don't especially care if the title has "[year] remaster" at the end, but putting the remaster date in the year tag is straight-up wrong, and THEY ALWAYS DO IT.
>Feature artists are in the artist tag for a song instead of in the song title
that's the worst, they send the songs into separate "albums" in the player and they're the most time-consuming to fix

everyone here is much more concerned with album art than I am. as long as I can see the thumbnail, I'm good, and I frequently use the wikipedia pic since they usually get the original colors right instead of all shopped to be brightened up. if I want to geek out on the artwork I'll type it into google image (many covers don't really have anything more interesting than what can be seen in a thumb anyway.)
