Sup Forums, I have a computer issue

Sup Forums, I have a computer issue.

Short version:
>Whenever I play games, my pc shuts down 10 minutes into play.
>Doesn't matter what game it is
>I've tried replacing my power supply already, it doesn't work

Long version:
>be me, Windows 10 fag
>install some programs to make my desktop look better
>gamelauncher and rainmeter, by the way
>mess around a bit in Assassin's Creed 2 for a bit
>PC completely shuts down
>no restart, no blue screen, no nothing. Just shuts down
>looks it up online
>find out it's a power supply issue
>don't question it, since I've had the same Corsair CX850M for like 5 years
>replace it with a shiny new, slightly shittier CX550M
>let's try this shit out
>nope, same issue
>look around online for more fixes
>everyone's either saying "it's your power supply" or "Increase your max processor rate"
>try the second option, but my max processor rate is already at 100%
>try uninstalling rainmeter & gamelauncher, maybe they're just using up a lot of power
>nope.jpg
>don't have any message board accounts, so I retreat to Sup Forums for help
anyone got any advice?

Heat related issue, reapply thermal paste, clean fans etc, dont be stupid.

Make sure your CPU isn't overheating. Download like OCCT or something and run it to see if it over heats. Might need a new cooler and some thermal paste.

this

>increase max processor rate
???

clean your shit. all of it

So, not just the fans in the power supply? All fans?
I checked MSI. 40-50 degrees.
If the first reply doesn't work I'll do this, thanks.

check your thermals using "real temp" and check for thermal shut down. Maybe try updating your motherboard bios by flashing it

>So, not just the fans in the power supply? All fans?
The CPU fans (core, video) in particualr.

I had this problem my bois just needed to be updated. As well who ever is helping you is a fucking idiot, what does proccessor rate mean? Like the Ghz?

CX PSUs are Shit. Get an EVGA GS, G2, G3, PS, P2, T2, B2, B3, or GQ. Check CPU temps. Also run memtest.

Perhaps I should've elaborated more. I followed this video guide.

1. check temps while gaming
2. update bios, windows update
3. try gaming without gpu (assuming you have an intel cpu with integrated graphics). could very well be gpu instability/driver crash. other anons probably know how to better troubleshoot this sort of issue, but running without gpu in the pci slot is one way to do it.

overheating dipshit

go to your motherboard manufactures website and look for a software update, tell me the mobo version and ill send u a link

try this for more help

don't play games

You see, Mr. President...when your PC overheats, it shuts itself off to prevent serious damage. It's happening during gaming because your computer is working hard (thereby getting hot), and your cooling isn't keeping up with the heat.

thank you. Everyone was talking about BIOS and I was totally lost, this should help out.

For everyone who asked, my motherboard is ASUS branded.

You need to go back to a save point on your computer before you installed that bullshit to make sure you didn’t get a virus. Your computer auto saves freeze points in time that it can go back too. Somebody here will rasily know the exact name of what i am talking about it is just slipping my mind at the moment. If it doesn’t work then ou have atleast weeded out the thought of a virus from all the gay donkey porn you downloaded for your home screen

Better save all the shit you know you need on a seperate hard drive before you do it faggot.
Your welcome

yeah i was the only one talking about bios and sent u that link

not this

I've had this issue with laptops because the processor was overheating and would kill it. I keep trying to fucking tell people not to game on laptops and everyone's like "hur dur alienware makes gaming laptops so fuck you" like a give a fuck and don't know what I'm talking about.

Nobody asked you

I had that same issue twice for two different reasons, A. You accidentally overclocked your cpu in the bios, reset it. Or B.your heatsink isint situated properly, check those

Well, I run a desktop so it's all good there.

nobody asked for ur shit advice on save points. that won't fix shit and he'll lose data since that store point

We need your IP address in order to help you?

op be more specific what type of asus

OP got this problem right after he downloaded some bullshit, go be a faggot somewhere else

Honestly??? do you know how to torrent? go get revo uninstaller and start uninstalling things with the advanced option, block programs from startup, run malwarebytes Full scan with rootkit enabled once (takes HOURS dont be lazy FUCK) delete everything it finds except those things you are 100% are not viruses.

Basic shit man, stop being a normie FUCK i hate this world.

Reset your pc, if it doesnt work after that try to borrow a freinds psu, if that doesnt work test your graphics card on another computer, if that works then your cpu is fucked. Its probably not ram

easily a coincidence and what virus shuts of a pc only when gaming. how fucked in the head are you

man im leaving op is a fuckin idiot, download the newest bios and install it

The kind that makes your mom squirt out little shits like you.
He needs to go back to that point in time to weed it out. If he is having heating issues with a gay assass game he should have gotten heating issues well before this. OP needs to do a recovery. And you need to be late term aborted

My PC would do that when playing pubg after I overclocked my cpu. Raising the voltage a few ticks ended up fixing it.

Pic has greatest hair dye I've ever seen. Top quality for sure

Your hardware stats and age of components please.

How does the computer shut down?

I had an issue where my computer would freeze, often with whatever audio was playing screeching at me, and the only solution was doing a hard shut down.

I deleted and reinstalled my nvidia drivers and haven't had a problem since.

make sure your processor's heat sink is properly seated. I recently dealt with what seemed like random shutdowns, crashes, and blue screens. Turned out to be my processor overheating because the heat sink was becoming loose. Buy and reapply thermal paste, and make sure the heatsink is on tight.

fpbp
/thread
Get cpu-z or some related app that detects cpu temp
Look up how to apply thermal paste to cpu and don't be a retard

First two replies spot on, your computer is overheating. Clean the inside, clean the fans, if that doesn't work it could be a number of things, could even be the motherboard reading the temp wrong.

There seems to be a consistency with people talking about overclocked CPUs. There's a couple things on my agenda for later.

1) reapply thermal paste
2) clean fans
3) software update for motherboard/BIOS update (possibly the same thing, will research later)
4) Check if CPU is fucked (replace if it is)
5) reset win10 to factory settings (about time I did that anyway)
6) Fix overclocked CPU (if it's overclocked)
7) Check if heat sink is properly seated
You guys have been a help.

Not OP, but he's said it just turns completely off. Like if he yanked the plug on it.

GPU + Heat = No Bueno

Sorry, ignore , that was meant for
