m8 I watched it for the first time a few months ago and I was surprised at how good it was. I always thought the first one was in the jungle and I expected over the top murder and machete kills. I didn't expect good acting, characters, setting and theme tune. Or feels.

This. Rambo in the movie doesn't kill anyone directly. In the book he WANTS to fight, and seeks the altercation. In the movie, he's just trying to flee. It isn't until the end he just completely lets go and starts preparing for war when Trautman stops him.
