Travelling to Vegas for the first time in August, for 7 nights. I’m from the UK and have never been to the US. Can anyone let me know some things that I must do when I’m there, and maybe some things that I should avoid or just not do. Also anyone got any idea how much money I should take, me and my girlfriend like to drink but don’t really see ourselves doing much gambling but you never know. I’ve always wanted to go to the States and want to have the best experience.

go to the atomic history museum, just off the strip

Frankie's Tiki Room and Golden Tiki are great spots, and off the strip. If you guys like shooting, go to Battlefield Vegas, lots of weapons to chose from, many vehicles to look at, and they will pick up/drop off at your hotel.

last year when i went they had an Area 51 exhibit with wreckage from prototype planes and pics of flying saucers they have flown there too. I saw 2 and 3rd one which looked like a silver walnut. no wings but the pics clearly show them taking from the runway.
there's even a panoramic pic of the Area 51 facility and lots of cool stuff if the exhibit is still there.

Germanfag here. Have been in US in 2012 for 4 weeks with 2 nights in Las Vegas. During summer. Didn't gamble one bit, I'm just not the kind of guy playing with money.

This strip is full of people - expect crowds near the fountains and vulcano shows although they play so often. You step outside in like 40°C, walking from casino to casino and inside you have cool air again (looking back I wonder why I didn't caught a cold). Outside lots of guys give you ad flyers for their sex clubs.

After all Las Vegas is impressive on the outside and hollow on its purpose. Like most things in the US. Go there to experience it, end of it.

Definitely want to visit a shooting range as I have never done anything like that before, thanks for he tip!

Guy they got rid of the volcano a long time ago also the bellagio has some of the best food if you like French onion soup they have the best in Vegas you all have to go to the Wynn for a Las Vegas style breakfast buffet then hit a place called the gun store to fire lots of cool machine guns the experience is a lot of fun an if there is a big line cut right to the front and offer someone at the seat 100 bucks they put you in a privet shooting room and you don’t have to wait around with all the basic bitches also if you do drugs a lot of the bar tenders or black jack dealers will hook it up unless you have a vip hostess

Zero punctuation. Authentic muricanfag.

My best advice I could give would be have a great time and DO NOT OVER DRINK the heat will greatly effect you drinking tolerance people hurt themselves all the time drinking way to much and no water then they think let’s walk to Cesar’s it’s right there but you don’t realize the scale things are built on there so massive so it’s like walking 5 New York City blocks and boom pass out if you look at the ground you will see sweat outlines of body’s on the ground from ppl blacking out from exhaustion

I’ve lived in Las Vegas my whole life. The volcano is still here...

Nope Canadian

To rich to care about punctuation and spelling at this point

Really my bad last few times I was there it looked very different and I never got to see it go off I assumed they’d removed it with a lot of the cool shit that used to be in the strip but in the 90s thing used to go off 24/7

>To rich to care
To rich, or not to rich.
That is the question.

Exotics racing... Drove a Lambo and wife drove a porsche

really?

What sort of magical shit do you do in the mythical land of Germany.

Genocide

Not being prudent and drinking alcohol in public.

if you gamble, only play blackjack. thats not totally a game of chance (like roulette is). you have some input on the outcome of the game.

if you come out ahead by like 100 bucks, walk away, buy yourself a great dinner. you will lose it if you keep playing.

That being said: if you want to gamble then put your money into the video game machines - I think I saw an 8 seat Sega Daytona machine in the New York New York.

One thing I forgot: each casino has its dozens of souvenir shops. Go there and buy one of the used card packs. Very cheap, small to carry back home, and you will be reminded every time you play cards with your friends.

Drinking has gotten expensive on the strip. Drink in your room before going out.

go north

video game machines are pre-programmed. also a game of chance. blackjack is a game of semi-skill. why play a video game?

So play the tables.. drinks are free when you're gambling.. you just tip the waitress a dollar or two.

No free drinks? I've never been, but I assumed you could get free drinks since you'd gamble more if buzzed.

I've only been there a couple times, just passing through for a couple nights though not necessarily planning a trip around it. Just walking up and down the strip is pretty fun, you meet some interesting people and might even get on a VIP club list which can sometimes be free. Heart attack grill is great too, food looks like crap but it tastes great plus midget waitresses in nurse gowns. A-fucking-plus. Just bring cash and eat ALL your food. One more thing too, shooting ranges, any gun you could ever dream to fire you can, I think you can even drive tanks over shit too. Legal weed is there too if that's your thing. That's about it really, once you go on the strip, you'll find a lot more to do. Good luck and have fun OP.

Stay in a nice hotel, preferably not attached directly to a casino (they exist). Go to historical sites like the hoover dam and the town of nelson. Walk around, shop a little, see the sites of the strip and freemont street, but gambling is seriously an idiots game. Use your money for things you'll remember. It will be worth it. Buffets are nice if you go in right before lunch prices are over and stay for dinner. Be flexible. Be safe. Lots of pickpockets.

OP said he wasn't into gambling that much. Besides, some staff take their time getting drinks when you are gambling.

Get away from The Strip at some point.
Hoover Dam, Valley of Fire State Park, Fashion Outlets of Las Vegas (in Primm, on the California border) are all an hour or so drive away.

Go see Celine Dion. It will change your life.

Being on the Titanic will change your life.

Since it's your first time I'd say relegate half your time to strip shit and then do the other cool shit Vegas has to offer. Some people in here are mentioning museums, maybe watch a cabaret, try at least one of the various shooting experiences, I heard there's some bulldozer thing where you can get in construction equipment and just smash shit. Also do you shit that's cool, but also might have a short life span. I've been going to Vegas since I was like 4, always regret never trying the NASCAR coaster at the Sahara, going to the short lived MGM theme park, and trying some of the old school casinos before they were demolished. Don't do any shit at the Linq, especially the high roller it's just not worth it. Lastly try out Fremont, they have some cool shit, and definitely do the Gandala rides at the Venetian, they're just fun to do.

>in August
Stick to indoor activities. It's like 45 degrees (C) in the summer.

>going to the short lived MGM theme park
I was there for that. It was a blast. They had a thing where you'd free fall at the beginning, and then swing to a slow stop.

Yeah true, Vegas is shit in the summer October-April is pretty decent. If you go in the summer, stay inside as much as you can, no walking the strip

I remember being there and always wanting to go, but my dumbass family could never find the damn entrance. It was the first time at MGM and I was lost as fuck. I always thought vegas could gain from something like that now, and not something shitty like adventuredome

I ended up in hospital due to this.

Adventuredome is ok on a shitty weather day, but I know what you mean.

Get out of Vegas. Seriously, spend 3-4 days there tops. Dont get me wrong its fun and certainly enjoy it while there. If this is your first time in the US then there is a shit ton more to see/do outside of Vegas.

You have a point. I would definetly go to the Grand Canyon being that close.

BTW OP. Don't be fooled into thinking that Americans really are fat. I used to live in a ski town, where everyone was pretty fit. The first trip to Vegas was a bit of a shock. There are a lot of fat people in Vegas. But you have to consider, what do fat people do for vacation? They can gamble just as well as anyone else.

If your girl wants to get that Vegas freak on, you need to take her to a strip club. They have classy ones like Spearmint Rhino or Crazy Horse and then the skanky ones like the Palomino Club (the only all-nude club in Vegas).

Go on a lunch helicopter tour of Grand Canyon. You take the ride to a spot on the grand canyon and they cook you lunch, pretty awesome.

Rent a car.

The food off the strip is very good and very affordable. On the strip it's either way overpriced, stupendously disappointing, or both. Spring Mountain road is Vegas's Chinatown and most of the restaurants along it are very good and shockingly cheap.

Cabs cost a fortune. If you drive somewhere to eat once a day you're already ahead of what a cab would have cost you most likely.

If you rent from the airport there's an extra fee and the car rental place isn't right at the airport anyway (you have to take a shuttle). There's another place called Fox Rentacar that runs its own shuttle where you don't get fucked by the "airport" fee.

If you like poker The Venetian is the best run room in vegas but there are lots of options. Caesar's is pretty good too.

There's a chain of foot massage places called Happy Feet where you can get an hour long masage for like 25 bucks or something ridiculous. No jerkoff stuff.

Avoid Niggers.

Shoot at Machine Guns Vegas or The Range 702.

See a show, especially a Cirque du Soleil show. The "O" show at the Bellagio is unbelievable, but there's dozens of them and for the most part the entertainment is well worth the price. While you're at the Bellagio, make sure you see the fountains. The Penn and Teller magic show at the Rio is awesome too, and if Rod Stewart is still there that's one you ought to see.

Lake Mead, Lake Mohave or Lake Havasu will be hopping in August. You don't really care if it's 120 degrees outside if you're on a boat on a lake with plenty of cold beer and your girl is in a bikini with 1 oz. of fabric.

Grand Canyon for sure. You can drive about three hours each way, or take a plane or helicopter. If you drive, go to the North Rim instead of the South.

Drive excavators, bulldozers, loaders and scrapers at Dig This.

Hoover Dam tour if you have any interest at all in construction and engineering.

As far as money goes, I'd set a hard limit of $100 a day for gambling, then quit and do something else. I work too hard for my money to piss it away, which is almost always what happens.

You ought to be able to get a decent hotel for $200 a night or less, not one of the big name ones necessarily, but comfortable and clean and in a good location. If you have a car, consider staying off the strip at the Rio or one of the Station hotels.

Your meal budget for two people can run from $40 per day to $1000 per day, depending on how fancy you want to get. The buffets are not as cheap as they were when I was a kid, but the food is good and the quantities are unlimited. The best food values are downtown rather than on the strip. Binion's Horseshoe Casino used to serve a very good steak for very little money, and maybe they still do.

The shows run $50-250 per person depending on popularity and where you sit. Got to see at least one or two while you're there.

you better schedule lots of side trips.
7 days is way to long on the strip.

Do Native Americans ring a bell?
