I just bought my first motorcycle. A Ninja 2017 w ABS. Pic related.
I was real happy at first, but now im having a change of heart. I’ve never a bike faster than a 50cc moped. And Im pretty scared. Actually, im really fucking scared. Of dying, of getting maimed or getting injured. Selfishly, im more worried about bodily harm to myself than i am about leaving my recently widowed mother and girlfriend without me.
I am really hating myself for being such a pussy. Should i be this afraid? I am 36 years old and im this scared of death and maybe even more scared of life.
You should be scared! You clearly did zero research and went for a crotch rocket :s There are other types of bikes you know. Should have went with a nice 600cc Tour or less in stead of a Racer.
If you havn't done a course, make that a priority. I've only had my bike for a year now, but when i look at youtube crash video's, i just laugh my ass of because these degenerate Racer fucks don't even know how to take a curve. Yeah, look into what counter-steering is faggot.
tl;dr Yes, you should be scared. You will die on this because you're a huge faggot
Jonathan Nguyen
Dude, ur 36 and for ur first bke u bought a brand new zx6r... What the fuck is wrong with u ? Why not a second hand with low mileage zx10 (if u like kawa) ? is it because of law or something ? in my country young drivers must have 42bhp at max
Camden Bennett
you're going to crash it trust me, you're going to crash it trust me, you don't ride better after you've been drinking
Jaxson Phillips
Can you still return it? Like other user said, start off with a 2nd hander
Asher Anderson
relax people... it s a fucking 600cc with less than 100bhp
Jordan King
Sorry, im retarded. I bought this one. Its the 300cc 2017 Ninja with ABS. Not the 600cc in the original post.
I wouldnt consider a 300cc a crotch rocket like you said, but maybe you refer to any supersport style bike as a crotch rocket?
Andrew Robinson
i would most likely risk drinking and driving with a car. With a motorcycle? FUCKNO
Samuel Brown
300cc or 600cc....doesn't matter. you're going to crash it
Matthew Young
be afraid be very afraid 1000cc sportbikes hav big teeth and they bite hard if you dont know what your doing do some riding courses might keep you upright and alive riding isnt transport its a way of life welcome to the life bud
Gabriel Collins
kek !!! 36 and a 300 cc... Man, the grilz must throw themselves at u !!!
Juan Morgan
yeah...i said the same thing
Ethan Taylor
Enjoy your severe, life-threatening, bankrupting injuries. Best of luck, you naive faggot.
Thomas Walker
at least ur gonna crash at slow speed...
Anthony Brown
Pretty much this.
Robert Butler
i was 25 and crashed going 40mph. that shit hurts.
Isaiah Young
Yes, probably. Because i ride a Tour. I ride a custom. A Suzuki GSX 600 F with a StreetFighter bodykit. It's a tour, so it's super comfortable, even after riding for a couple of hours. When i drive a racer, my wrists get fucked up after 30 minutes.
David Thompson
>That one WebM where the biker 300kph crashed and both his legs detached on the highway
You should be scared OP
Adrian Cook
take it easy and enjoy, take a riders course if you are not confident in your abilities.
[pic related] my K1300
Ryder Garcia
Is just a 300. Don't worry man. Just make sure you ATGATT.. ALL THE GEAR ALL THE TIME. Take it easy, do some courses. Work in to the bike. You'll be fine. I ride a 600cc ducati monster as my first bike and a 900XSR Yamaha my new bike. The Yamaha is quick as fuck. Just take it easy, stay away from trucks, indicate early.
Jordan Parker
I know, and sorry for making fun of it. Oldfag here and biker since 30 years, with a few broken bones also... V to you
Nathaniel Morgan
op. Ive been riding for 8 years. only around 30k mils but I went from a 200 to an 05 R1 down to a klx250 and now im back up to an Fz07. Just look out for yourself. you will learn to dodge the cagers. Take risks its life.
Bentley Cruz
Love the stormtrooper BMW !!! Here s mine : Bking (hayabuse street version)
Eli Hill
i'd love to get another bike. i live 5 miles from my job. gas would be less than $10/month. but there are just too many faggots on the road trying to fuck with their smartphones while driving. ain't worth it.
Jonathan Morgan
Dude. Stop being a such pussy.
You are going to be fine on a Ninja 300. That is probably the most recommended starter bike around.
Ignoring the fact that it is a good starter bike though, you are in your thirties. You already are past the dangerous part of your first bike, which is being young and stupid.
Take a MSF class. Ignore all their fear mongering about how you will die instantly if you are not covered in body armor from head to tow. Get a good full or modular helmet, some good gloves, and a decent jacket. You can get all for less than $500 total without skimping on quality.
Take your time, get comfortable, and have fun.
Aaron Brooks
I should add Ive had a 250 supermotard up to 99mph. He has a bit larger engine with better areo. Guessing it can do 110 (my fz07 does 130)
Asher Russell
>maimed I gotta get new glasses read that word as married
think about it this way you know how 2 wheels handle from your moped days you know how the throttle feels the only learning curve you have right now is the clutch, unless you've driven manual cars at this point all you have to do to keep from killing yourself is not giving the bike more throttle than you can handle get out on the road, do some easy light/no traffic rides with easy curves get used to the power slowly you will learn how to ride that bike w/o killing yourself and you will have the time of your life
Christian Nguyen
hahah Ikr, the ugly duckling but goes like the clappers :)~ nice nekkid too mate :)
Daniel Hughes
arent them called B king?
Brayden Allen
I hear u bro !!! I live in Europe and these fuckers in cars with phones, make up and shit are the reason I break so much mirrors while commutting !!
James Flores
What’s V to you?
Eli Watson
this is why I ride so aggressively, to keep away from morons, leave the cagers behind :)
Jonathan Perez
Mate, in my mind, the k1300 is far from ugly !! Yep, B-King : 1340cc a bit shy from 200bhp with a tuch here and there Pic related ;) I hear u bro, really !!
Juan Rivera
Bro... it's only as fast as you allow it to be. You can literally stick to the speed limit and be fine. Throttle control is key.
Your body gets use to the force of speed anyway. I remember when I first got me a 150cc scooter. Going 30mph scared the shit out of me when I first got on it. Now I'm rocking out with a 650cc motorcycle going up to 65mph (15mph over the speed limit cuz why not :P)
Top result for me: "Motorcycle Crash: Rider Snaps Leg In Low Speed Collision".
To be fair, most of the accidents are caused by other drivers
Gavin Gray
Crotch Rocket is just the nickname for any sport styled bike. Although a Ninja 300 is more of a Crotch Bottle Rocket.
If you weigh 200 pounds or more you are going to have a hard time accelerating quickly until you get the hang of your bike.
William Russell
Im 6’0” and 197 lbs
Anthony Kelly
If u wanna check a good utube channel and check out commuting (in Europe) : search for Royal Jordanian (London). One of the best : (Daily observations)
Lincoln Turner
Shoutout to the daily bike thread on Auto
Aaron Cox
Drunk driving is easier on a bike. Just saiyan.
Carter Hernandez
this is my fuel
Thomas Perez
Cracking ur skull also... Dont drink and ride
Andrew Powell
Am going to do paperwork on my third bike this monday and am super stoked, youll have fun just dont drive like a dick and be defensive on the road
Pic related is my soon to be bike
Eli Jones
Just save up a few thousand for a shit box car as a daily. Save the bike for the weekends. Less chance of getting killed
Ethan Reed
Take it slowly, learn your bike, and enjoy yourself. You'll only kill yourself if you think the bike is in control, you are in control, you work the clutch.
Kevin Bailey
bankrupting injuries?? Here you get filthy rich if you get injured, but I guess it doesn't make it worth it. and yes I live in a socialist country.
Back to OP why did you buy a kids bike? I you are not keen of speed buy like a classic style perhaps a z900rs or something.
I drive z1000, zx6r
Liam Ross
So the reason the 300 is recommended as a starter bike is that it doesn't have enough power to really get a young idiot into trouble. That also means it doesn't have enough power to get a grown man out of trouble.
See one of the most important things to get used to on a bike as opposed to a car is that when you need to improve your stability and handling is you accelerate as opposed to braking like on a car. This is because you are basically riding on a pair of gyroscopes that are strapped together; the harder you make them spin, the more stable they are.
Your bike isn't going to have the balls to push you out of anything bad. On the bright side, it doesn't have the balls to get you into as much trouble to begin with.
It is a good training bike but if you actually enjoy riding you will probably be ready to upgrade within two years.
Luis Wood
And get the loudest exhaust possible
Gavin Allen
Yes also this

First bike was a 07 gsxer 600. Never rode a bike before. It was the best summer of my life. Almost died about a million times, wouldn't undo any of it. What an amazing time. I've been riding (same bike) for about 3 years now too. I've never laid it down. I came out of the mall, and it was knocked over. not sure if the heated asphalt sunk the kickstand or someone pushed it, but it felt like someone shot my mom. much sad. I was also 29 when I bought it.
Take it easy, watch twist of the wrist II on youtube, don't let your peers pressure to ride overly outside your comfort zone.
Nevermind. lol a 300. Dumb nigga.
Carson Perry
I started with a Honda CBR600RR 2004. Never had any trouble riding it as a beginner.
Robert Lewis
Sounds like buyers remorse, and only because you have yet not mastered the bike and felt the adrenaline and other great feelings you get from a good ride. You have to let go of the feelings when riding, you should already know in the back of your mind that you can break a leg, arm, or neck yourself and move through that barrier.
I'd say a slight worry is fine in the begging but you have to learn to remain calm, because if you don't you ll have a tight grip on the bike which is bad, you'll be panic on the breaks and clutch.
All in all, be an adult the next time and rethink your purchases. Because i guarantee you will eventually crash like most of us have in the learning phase (i broke my wrist while going 110kmh around a tight bend and lost traction)
Gabriel Rodriguez
FIRst part i was like ‘thanks brah!’, second part i was like ‘fuck you.’ :)
Zachary Harris
Return it immediately and buy a H2 instead. Thank me later.
Christopher Jenkins
>Actually, im really fucking scared. Of dying, of getting maimed or getting injured had a bike accident myself, but it was totally my fault, got out of it with just a scrape. I was looking for trouble and I found it.
I don't get an actually thrill from riding, it has a therapeutic calming effect. When I feel bothered or uneasy I just go for a ride like you would go for a drive. I've ridden for hours and days at a time. Took this trip from Stockton to Vegas on the same bike I had the accident in.
You only have an accident if you look forward for it.
Austin Howard
At first I was thinking you're fucking insane. A ZX6R is a bike for people who are VERY confident in how they ride and very familiar with how a bike behaves
Now that I see you've got a Ninja 300, my tone has completely changed. There is basically no better bike to learn on if you want to go down the sport bike route.
Just take it easy, follow the rules, and be aware of your surroundings at all times
Oh and what ever you do, no matter how far you are riding. Put ALL your gear on. Boots, kevlar pants, ajcket, gloves, helmet.
30 mile ride to work, down highways? Gear. 5 mile ride to the local cinema through suburban streets? Gear. 1 mile ride to the shops because you're lazy? Gear.
You will FUCK yourself up even on the most minor accident if you dont' have gear.

I find it funny how people act as if the 300 is a very slow cockroach, I'm also 6ft and 92kg. I've rode the 300 plenty of times and had fun all those times i rode it. Nimble, smooth, and hits up the corners like an absolute champion and i kept up with bigger bikes people in here like to show off about and act hard that they rode a 600-800cc bike in the beginning). Probably why the most of you cant ride for shit unless it's a straight line.
It's not hard to hit 0-100kmh (0 - 60mph) in around 5.8 seconds. Only problem OP will have is getting used to revving out the bike, and him thinking the engine will explode.
Levi Gray
Me again. Pic from my garage
We have a 2007 CBR1000RR Fireblade with fill TI exhaust (Akrapovic from the header all the way through, not slip on bullshit)
2007 harley davidson rocker custom
2007 harley davidson sportster
2015 royal enfield continental gt
Robert Reyes
I agree it is capable, which is why I keep emphasizing that it is a great starter bike but lets be honest, for an adult that isn't going to go full throttle every chance he gets there is no downside to going a little bigger. And he is probably going to get tired of riding what sounds like a very large angry hornet sooner rather than later.
Connor King
Not true- You forget that most adults have never experienced Power/Weight like a 600 any time in their life... Your 650 twins like the Ducati Monster 659 might be okay, as are the Kawasaki ER6N's etc but even those are going to be way more power/weight than they've ever experienced.
It's like shooting a .338 lapmag as your first rifle. Sure it's big and it'll do way more than you're capable of, but really, there are smarter, cheaper ways to go about it.
Charles Russell
so much this I ride an 1100cc bare bones cruiser and the PWR of most 600cc racers scares the shit out of me
Brayden Adams
That is just stupid. Until you hop on a motorcycle for the first time you have zero frame of reference for any power/weight ratio because cars and bikes handle and feel completely different.
A 600 or 650 is in no way a large bike. And I say that as someone who started on a 250.
Luke Turner
... A 650 twin is not even close to comparable to a 600 inline 4.
600 inline 4 as your first bike is just retarded. This is your CBR600RR's, your ZX6Rs, R6 etc.
The 650 twins, again I said you'd be ok if you're careful but i still don't think it's a good idea.
Gavin Barnes
>A 600 or 650 is in no way a large bike
650 twins are quite fast.... and for someone that doesn't ride it will get you into a fuck load of trouble
