Hollywood

Drunk and rambling but fuck it.

I've starred in movies and sold pilots. I've directed shorts. The studio system is going to literally break it's spine in half sucking China's cock and making 1/4 of the movies that they do for giga blockbusters that cost the size of small nations.

R-Rated Comedies are all but dead. Oscarbait dramas are sanitized as hell. The low-to-mid budget studio film is all but dead.

The only good shit seems to be coming from small houses like A24 (Swiss Army Man) and weirdly CBS Films with Hell or High Water.

Netflix/VHS does not offer residuals that VHS/DVDs did, so the secondary payments that bought creatives their home has completely dissipated. A lot of people you think are rich are dirt poor and faking it.

It is a disastrous year for movies. I know many successful actors, writers, and directors who are hunting for scraps of an industry.

Paranoid, but believe this may be social engineering of media savvy Obama administration. They are centrist-Democrats to core. They hate Bernie Sanders. It's shameful.

Fuck. I've been this industry for 6 years and I'm going independent now. Steven Spielberg and Steven Soderbergh both predicted the studio system collapsing soon. Then Spielberg signed a deal with China. FUCK

Everything is bad.

meant for first VHS to be VOD. Goddammit.

Sounds like they need to start adding more cunny.

will TV survive?

I don't like Chinese people so here is a bump.

Look, ma! Even people in the industry are pathetic shitposting assholes just like us!

Times change, faggot. It's not fair and it never has to be. Sucks to live on the downswing instead of the boom but ride it out or drown in it. Your call.

i don't know. there are all of these bonkers new monthly services popping up. cordcutting will soon be useless. When there's 50 5-10 dollar a month services available, it's going to be absolutely unsustainable.

The Get Down cost Netflix 19 million dollars an episode and no one's watching it. They've probably hit a ceiling. Everyone who has Netflix has Netflix. Who is joining now?

when at&t and time warner merge we are fucked.

>The only good shit seems to be coming from small houses like A24 (Swiss Army Man)

A24 is doing real well and I respect them for it.

But if things are as bad as you say, what hope is there for a young, hungry aspiring filmmaker who hasn't made anything of value yet? Should I give up and move on.

are you zach braff

Yeah.

Fuck.

Go on OP.

Is there anyway to save Hollywood and do you mind telling me what movies you starred in?

be a jew dummy

i am a jew.

the zionist overlords have not granted me my own piece of hollywood.

>still no hell or high water torrent
REEEEEEEEEE

People found out that high budget TV shows are the FAR superior form of delivering a visual story

Sorry

im not comfortable disclosing my ID

but here's my solution:

1. bring back double features. cheaper tickets.
2. lower the fucking budgets. make 15-50 million dollar movies again.
3. Stop the obscene celebrity payment. these idiots walk red carpets but a guy who pops zits on youtube in India gets more views.
4. put some fucking young people in charge.

Everyone in charge of Hollywood is some middle aged fucking MBA who doesn't even give a shit about movies. They're all about brands.Fire their asses.

oh, and disband the MPAA and kick Chris Dodd to the fucking curb. These evil cocksuckers have always been awful, using the NC-17 but now they're actively selling our country out.

Maybe Hollywood will start using kickstarter and patreon.

The binge model is beginning to wear thin as is the "mystery box" style of stretching one story out to 12 hours.

Some things are meant for movie theaters and the communal experience, and it's not retarded Chinese propaganda. What are you, afraid of people or something?

>bring back double features
People can barely sit through a single movie without pulling out their phones

so placate those retards by letting them do that in the back aisle or something.

Movies offer an ESCAPE from all of that shit. I hate my fucking phone. I wish I could throw it onto the 101.

>4. put some fucking young people in charge.
I find this to be a major problem in all sorts of careers.
Fucking boomers who complain about millennials being useless but refuse to give them a job unless it's out of their cold dead hands.

it's especially bad in Hollywood, where there are shows like Conan where people in their 30s still work as unpaid interns.

It's a fucking millennial sweatshop. I'm lucky I had money for a few years.

oh shit, are you seth rogen? dudeweed?

its Paul Dano. He outed himself by promoting his own movie

Unpaid internships should be illegal unless the company is willing to sign something that legally everything the unpaid person does is not allowed to be used in anyway by the company to make money

Hello, reddit!

a classic misstep. did you go to bed, mister dano?

Surprise moron, jews constantly oppress and fuck each other over too despite what the talmud says

It's just built into their dna

>lower the fucking budgets. make 15-50 million dollar movies again.

I feel like thats the problem. Too many films have huge budget now a days and that ones that don't flopped so hard and get ignored.

>The binge model is beginning to wear thin as is the "mystery box" style of stretching one story out to 12 hours.

each season should have an arc that stretches out over the 12-13 episodes. The Marvel shows on Netflix consistently have this problem of wrapping the first arc off halfway through the season and kinda hanging on dead air through the second.

>it's a Classic Dano thread

It's obvious you don't work in Hollywood, If you do then I'm surprised you haven't been kicked out to Fresno for being fucking retarded,

I dont think it can be fixed and a major crash is about to happen in less than 5 years.
Bottom line no one wants to deal with movie theater bullshit anymore when you can just watch it all at the house.

Speilberg sign a deal to what exactly? Direct, produce. Does it restrict him to china

Shit. What about cartoons?

Hollywood deserves to burn. I don't see the problem. Is it your sense of entitlement? Do you feel like you deserve a paycheck because you live in California?

Hollywood literally is collapsing on itself and it because of faggots like OP that this has transpired.

>hunting for scraps of an industry

Pull your pants up, get a real fucking job and stop being a punk bitch...faggot.

>But if things are as bad as you say, what hope is there for a young, hungry aspiring filmmaker who hasn't made anything of value yet? Should I give up and move on.

Who said you have to be in L.A. to make films? Independent filmmaking is where it's at now.

>I dont think it can be fixed and a major crash is about to happen in less than 5 years.

as long as Infinity War Part 2 comes out before then I don't give a shit. I'd love to see the entire Cinematic Marvel Universe end and the entire movie industry collapse around it

People have been waiting for the video game crash for a long time and it still hasn't come. I feel like these things really are "too big to fail". There might be missteps here and there but I don't think we're ever going to see the entire thing crash down upon itself. There's too many people who just don't care about quality and prop them up.

>Movies suck
>Thanks Obama
What the actual fuck?
Why the fuck would Teh Gubmint want Holywood to fail?

What do you think about direct-to-DVD movies?

Budgets need to come down but that wont happen because the FUCKING JEWS in Hollywood, who admittedly created cinema as we know it, only want billion dollar hits. So they're not interested in low budget movies not to mention that the marketing budgets have to be soo fucking ridiculously high that it's unrealistic for a low to medium budgeted movie to be made. American cinema is right in the fucking toilet these days and that Jew baster Spielberg, along with his buddy Turkeyneck Lucas, are partially to blame.

That's because your parents didn't offer your foreskin to the Rabbi to be used as chewing gum.

Yeah, the MPAA is a fucking joke in the days of internet snuff films and hardcore digital pornography. It's a protection racket for the major studios who basically control the MPAA and make sure low budget independent films/Producers/studios can't get an R-rating for low budget genre/exploitation films.

>who admittedly created cinema as we know it
hello jew

You should have seen it at the theater, it's great.

You're 100% correct because insane budgets ARE the problem. Digital technology is soo advanced that anyone can make a good looking movie with about 3K worth of equipment (Camera, computer, editing equipment, microphones etc....).

But like the 60's when film equipment got smaller and cheaper, advanced tech undermines the people who spend 100-300 million fucking dollars and the greedy fucks who demand tens of millions for a few weeks/months worth of work.

Here's an idea, Netflix opens a chains of theaters, charges customers a flat rate membership fee to go there. Put out the word to independents that they're taking submissions of completed films. People make movies and Netflix shows them but doesn't offer anything beyond the movies budget. If the movie is good then the filmmakers get free promotion by being shown in Netfllix theaters and online and then they can sell the film Directly to anyone who wants to buy it.

No one professional comes to fucking Sup Forums. You're a lying piece of shit OP. This place is for depressed neets and edgy teens.

are you retarded, this board alone is proof that you're wrong and if you go take a look at boards like Sup Forums and /r9k/ you'll find that there are a lot of "normal" people on Sup Forums now

No Jew and no Homo, you fucking faggot. I give credit where it's due, unlike your Mom who takes cash for her gash.

>>I feel like thats the problem.
low budget films are not the problem. These films are profitable given the low risk that they are. These films are the most rational things to do.

Good. I liked Warcraft. Blood elves are perfect for added Asian characters too.

Everything sucks for everyone, Im glad Hollywood faggots are suffering too

Movies aren't dead, you're just not looking hard enough

When Hollywood's overpaid bleeding-heart faggots have to deal with the feral beaners, violent porch apes and Islamic scum they're forcing on everyone else, maybe then we'll see the movies becoming popular again.

People don't enjoy watching talentless fucks like Jamie Foxx knowing he gets $20 million a picture but bitches about how hard it is to be black in the USA.

Movies aren't fun any more and their constant leftist cultural programming from a moneyed elite grates on the nerves of the average movie goer. Fuck Hollywood. I don't pay money to have someone else's social justice programming rubbed in my face.

what a Sup Forums post

>make a billion dollars in profit from a film after advertising and budget BEFORE merchandising and home video
>m-muh shekels

then vote trump

So you think that politicising entertainment and pissing off your core demographic is a good idea?

You have Deadshot rewritten as a black man for Suicide Squad and played by a man infamous for getting his talentless kids work using connections making jokes about how white people are nepotistic. How do you think the majority of movie goers felt about that? Especially the ones that despite 'white privilege' can only afford to take the family out to the movies maybe a couple of times a year?

People go to the movies to be entertained, not lectured to.

literally this, worked before

this just doesn't look quirky enough. also needs a type of animal in the title.

bump

You say R rated comedies are all but dead, but didn't Deadpool and Sausage Party make serious bank?

The people who are joining now are people that only join for a month at a time when their favorite shows or interesting new shows get new seasons. They watch their shows and let the sub run out.

The gaming industry is in a transitional period right now, what with VR and incremental consoles like the ps4 pro and xbox scorpio being introduced. It's a long way from a crash.

The film industry isn't in a transitional period, it's just stagnating on a huge level.

This.
Also thanks for reminding me I need to cancel my subscription until Bojack Horseman comes back.
