Raspberry Pi, Rasplex and a cheap NAS filled with movies. Works like a charm.
My Samsung smart TV has pretty much everything built in. No need for any boxes.
How does the plex compare to xbmc/kodi?
>samsung
enjoy explosions
disgusting
>a cheap NAS filled with movies.
I torrent from my NAS as well and its the best thing I ever had. It all plays on my Nexus Player.
How? It's identical to any other device that offers streaming apps.
This was my old set up, gen 1 raspberry pi B, switched over to a android based Kodi box, and I would not want to go back.
It's fine if you're not bothered about instant menu pop-ups or transitions. When you play the media there's nothing to complain about for the dirt-cheap price.
Plex TV on my mac pro to anything anytime
I hook my computer up to my tv then lay on my side and cry the night to sleep
I've heard those break down pretty easily though.
Same here but I don't cry I fart and scarf food.

>Game Boy Advance
>Game Boy Color
>Game Boy
>Game Gear
>a cheap NAS

>M8s+
>1TB external hdd
>air mouse
It's all I need.
My parents bought a Fire Stick. What the fuck is it?
>My Samsung smart TV
Dropped and kys
samsung smart TV for the hbo, netflix apps
chromecast for youtube and random videos since it starts faster
>tfw I only care about bitrate for porn
A piece of shit
Genelec 8040, Bowers & Wilkins 12" subwoofer
Shit tv since im near sighted, 46" samsung
PS4 + plex
you live in a toystore
No.
A cheap ReadyNAS Pro from eBay, can't remember the model. I loaded the Plex server add-on onto it and use the Raspberry as a client.
That way I don't have to worry about crap like file permissions, anything with a Plex client can play the media (SmartTV, PC etc.)
Also, the reason why I have no PS4 is because I am waiting on the PS4 Pro.
Jesus just kill yourself, fag.
Torrent shit with my laptop and then connect it to my flat screen Samsung TV with an HDMI cord.
Literally all you need.
at my desk using my PC as a foot rest. the fans feel great
Why are you people so autistic when it comes to smart tvs?
They do everything these stupid boxes do and it is a lot more practical
>connect it to my flat screen Samsung TV with an HDMI cord.
This is pathetic
what is your job if i may ask
It's not practical because those smart TVs don't upgrade as well.
My $25 Nexus Player does more than my Samsung Smart TV and I can update it however I want.
both the webbrowser and the media player are poor, only have basic options. Eg. can't update or install new codecs (like hevc).
On samsung they even remove apps with each updates. 3D trailer thingy (which probably noone used), and Skype (which was only good for the SammyTV hack, as i know. probably thats why they removed it. )
>having all the media playback locked into your TV
>practical
nope
>receiver/tv is connected to my pc
>turn on receiver/tv
>pc display automatically turns off
>desktop goes to tv
>use dual shock 4 touchpad to navigate around windows from my tv
works really well tbqh. no need to spend extra money on a roku or whatever.
Only the best YIFY rips on my iPhone
>Android dongle and netflix
static.droid-tv.fr
oh and another plus with this setup is that i can use my ds4 in front of my tv to play any steam games i might want to use a controller with, like the souls series for example.
if you don't mind running a few cables from your pc to your tv it's just incredibly convenient.
...
fuck off
>OLED
Dropped.
Enjoy the next year and a half that tv
*of
Neetbux
>he can't afford an iPhone

>not having a Google Pixel on the way
>Panasonic Q

Hisense H65MEC5550

?????????
I'm torn between raspberry pi and odroid c2
I use my PC, with a wireless mouse.
disgusting
Rpi 3 + OSMC
can stream(or torrent) all the shit I need and more
nice
...
mine is great as well
It's shit
Can I play Nintendo with you?
agree
it's alright. smart os could be better, thats all
I'm on the same boat as you user, I have no idea what these little boxes do as I don't need them.
Idiot
What's wrong with that. When I have to travel for work I take my HDMI cable so I can continue watching kino on the go.
Software is often shit and never updated.
Smart TVs are also always listening.
what's your problem, retard?
Talking about set ups and he doesn't know what a NAS, or Google
smart TVs are not kino
they're just retards who overcomplicate everything
>paying for stream
>buyin extra hardwares
I have a VHS/DVD combo, Wii U runs Hulu and Netflix and Wii rundown WIIMC to play movies off USB.
the user i asked understood just right. and also gave the answer : the type of the cheap nas
now look at yourself and laugh how illiterate you are
There are too many options. Some people like that but not me. I'm indecisive and paranoid that I'll read about something better and less expensive as soon as I buy something.
Raspberry Pi with Kodi hooked up to my color-calibrated 50" LG TV. I use my desktop PC with Linux as media server and automated Usenet downloader.
What does illiterate mean
Roku 3 + Plex
I don't torrent so I just use my Xbox One for everything. I pay for Netflix and Amazon, I use my brother's HBO account, and my dumb parents pay for cable so I use their account for the Comedy Central and FX apps, and I think maybe one or two others.
Anytime I need to watch something from my computer, I just use an HDMI cable like a barbarian.
roku has been a solid choice for years
smart tv + netflix
This is how the real go hards do it but I use an xbone now because it's everything all in one place and I like the vcr a e s t h e t i c
Just get Plex. Thinking about upgrading my Xbox One to the grey One S, but it's not worth it at the moment as I could just wait for the Scorpio.
125" screen, Epson projector, 6.1 speaker setup, Kodi, and Synology
Kodi's not perfect but it's less buggy than Plex, in my experience
Plex is a mess
except quality capacitors
32 vizo with google cast
One of those shitty MXQ Android boxes with Kodi installed and an external drive full of torrented kino.
Surprisingly comfy.
>fuckin idiot parents letting me use their cable
haha totally duder that's epic
You can stream pirated stuff to xbone easily anyway kysmm
HDMI from laptop to tv
I have the same thing, works just fine, My mom has a roku
Should I build a badass computer and just hook it to my 4k tv and have a wireless keyboard/mouse? How much would this cost to do properly?
This post just reeks of bad financial decisions
I would be using this setup for gaming too not just movie watching
i download everything but i want a CRT tv
what do?
not memeing
The problem with SmartTVs, I've got a Samsung too, is that unless the vendors update the apps regularly they can't play various formats. Mine is unable to transcode x265 so I have to look for x264 versions or convert them myself, which is a chore.
>go to Gumtree
>buy old CRT for pennies
>get HDMI to SCART or whatever adapter
>?????
