Godzilla Cinematic Universe

Let's talk about this.

What movies do you want to see?
Which monsters?
Who is going to win pic related?

Bump

I am more interested in Kong: Skull Island.

I hope that they make a King Kong vs Shin Godzilla because Shin is 100 times more powerful than Legendary but then Legendary being weak goes well with him fighting Kong who is just a big ape.

Legenzilla is like a scrappy underdog Godzilla. He'll start low on the chain and get stronger with each movie, likely showcasing his more out-there powers like mad basketball skills with each crossover.

Also am I the only one who thinks a Pacific Rim crossover would be a good excuse to whip out Mechagodzilla

Kong won the first movie so Godzilla should win this time. Though I suspect neither will be killed. I really don't see how Kong can survive the atomic breath unless be straight up dodges it

Going to boring and shitty as it tries to be too realistic for its own good while dragging out the fights and human scenes which are basically all filler.

The original is campy enough to use balloons to transport King Kong, I believe. I take that.
They probably connect Skull Island with Godzilla and make it "Monster Island" with several monsters hiding there which, I guess, is not all too bad.

I just don't care much about CGI brawls, to be fairly honest. At least not in the way they have been portrayed since.

>Also am I the only one who thinks a Pacific Rim crossover would be a good excuse to whip out Mechagodzilla

I want this so goddamn bad

Bump

I want it to cross-over with Pacific Rim.

>sending out promo shots of Godzilla vs King Kong before the King Kong movie even comes out
>spoiling the reveal of King Kong in the original movie by rushing to market the sequel

Why do studios do shit like this?

That's a fan image

>Who is going to win pic related?
The audience, of course!

>100 times more powerful
No

>What movies do you want to see?
MECHAGODZILLA
>Which monsters?
MECHAGODZILLA
>Who is going to win pic related?
Big G obviously

>Who is going to win pic related?

Neither. It will end in a stalemate so that the autists can argue over who they think won without the studio having to definitively side with one or the other so they can avoid any nerd rage being directed at them.

Mecha godzilla in a pacific rim crossover would be super fucking dumb. Besides, they already set it up. You think they put that Godzilla skeleton in the first movie just to explain the muto? That's a future mecha godzilla

This. I really don't think Pacific rim and Godzilla would really work in a shared universe. Godzilla monsters are overpowered as fuck

Not just that. It's literally what the fuck is the point if introducing mecha Godzilla when there's already kaiju fighting giant robits? Like for real man come on that's stupid

Pacific Rim's monsters first appear in 2015.
Godzilla is set the year before, Kong in the 70s.
There's no way to make a crossover without making a mess.

Tbh I really think Legendary jumped the shark with PR. If they only waited a few years to see Godzilla's success, they could have easily written the movie around the universe they want to build with him

>Who is going to win pic related?
They both will team up to fight a super monster that shows up at the end.

Can't they just make a couple of fun flicks which people enjoy without making some "universe" out of it?

Awww shit. Place your bets, /teevee/. Who's it going to be?

I want to predict Ghidora but I think he's already confirmed for Godzilla II

That would kinda miss the point of the Godzilla franchise.

Toho had been doing shared universes way before marvel did

All I want.

Pls Gigan

Could you imagine if they managed to squeeze Mecha Kong into one of the movies?

Kill yourself.

Edgelord.

Bump

>manlet Godzillas
lol

JIT JAGGA
JIT JAGGA
YATTA DE JAGGAAAAAA

>Who is going to win pic related?
Neither and both.

Since they're both 'good guys' neither will lose and Legendary definitely won't kill one of them and cut short more potential profits. They'll fight each other for more than half the movie then team up to take down some other bigger, badder monster. In the end, they'll go their separate ways with a mutual understanding of the other. Afterwards, people will cry for Godzilla/Kong buddy cop movie.

These movies write themselves.

>minilla got a monsterarts before zilla did
>minilla got a monsterarts before muto did
Come on give us something good already. You can't fucking make moguera and fucking baragon over actual monsters

Why is 2001 so tiny?

The real question is, how come 2000 isn't there

Fixed version

meltdown G for number 3

>Cinematic Universe

When will this gimmick die?

when will pic related come back?

So hype for Legendary Goji vs Kong. But I really want to see MechaGodzilla introduced through Pacific Rim.

>cinematic universe

Don't fucking care.

I remember when Skull Island was first teased, I thought it was going to be a pulpy action adventure on a spooky island full of monsters, no Kong shit, just the cool world they made with the Jackson Kong movie, but now it's a fucking origins tie in movie and won't mean squat.

>shitty puppet fights and cardboard cities are charming, campy and warm, like my childhood
>shitty cgi fights are cold and unengaging, like the modern world, to me
really makes you think

This is a meme and it needs to die

you are complaining for the sake of it, the Godzilla franchise is one of the first cinematic universes

Fuck off already. Why the hell would the series with robots that fight monsters introduce a robot monster to fight monsters when they already have robots that fight monsters? Does your brain fucking work good? I think not.

This is like saying you're waiting for a kong and Godzilla crossover so they can introduce the v-rex

I wouldn't mind but the Pacific Rim universe is way too drastically different than the Godzilla universe.

Shin Godzilla got pissy just because some Americans dropped a few bunker bombs on him. Legendbro would whip the shit out of him.

it's the tone and color pallete

PR feels like a Marvel movie
Amerizilla feels like shitty DC

Shin Godzilla would cut Bugerzilla in half with its atomic breath. Bugerzilla literally had to french another monster to hurt them with his breath. Shin Godzilla leveled Tokyo in one exhale.

>Jacksons kong
>Cool world

An hero

He survived americas strongest nuke ever, unlike burnt toast which got reckt by some bunker bombs. In terms of toughness, japzilla loses by a mile.

In terms of strength, japzilla loses.

In terms of speed, japzilla loses.

In terms of fire power, japzilla wins FOR NOW because the muto emp was specifically evolved to neuter godzillas atomic breath

They already said Skull Island has no ties to 2014 Godzilla. No easter eggs or unnecessary refrences. They're saving that shit for Godzilla 2.

stop saying j*pzilla

WB being retarded as always, how do they exect to build a brand like this? doing posters with the same colorful smoke soldier things is not enough

Since when is flinching, getting pissed and leveling a city "getting wrecked"?

he's actually confirmed to be the enemy kaiju of Shin Godzilla 2

No

Dong island takes place in the 70s. I wouldn't expect anything other than some choppers or crates with a monarch logo on them

Except thats exactly what they should be doing. They need to take it slow like Marvel did. Things will pick up after Godzilla II.

I do hope we get at least one or two nods though to godzilla fans. Doesn't need to be anything major. Refering to the giant spider in the trailer as Kumonga would be enough for me

When its back got blasted to shit and it sprayed out bits of meat and blood and it cried like a bitch and then had to sleep for two weeks

>he doesn't like the Skull Island section

What's it like being unable to enjoy things?

For all we know the whole series will only have 4 movies.

>Godzilla (2014)
>Kong The Skull Island (2017)
>Godzilla 2 (2018)
>Godzilla vs. Kong (2020)

So we're almost halfway through.

Wow, that sure is some retconning you did there.

It gets barely wounded, gets pissed off and nukes a city, AND THEN goes to sleep not because it was hurt but because it just used a bunch of energy tearing Japan a new asshole.

doing fuck all =/= taking it slowly
Gareth Edwards said they RESISTED the urge to include a Mothra egg or a sequel hook or something like that because they wanted to tell a self contained story. Where is the hype? why are you treating your shitty franchise burger movie like fine art? Warner Bros will somehow manage to fuck up Godzilla vs Kong the same way they did with BvS

Confirmed up to this point. If you don't think they will continue the franchise you have another thing coming

>barely wounded
It got shredded dude. Even if it was papercut level that's STILL far far weaker than fatzilla, who again, tanked Americas strongest nuke.

The argument was that japzilla would win. He wouldn't. He's weak and would ultimately lose, especially after he expends all his energy and stays wide open for weeks

Thats actually a fair point. If he wanted to put stuff in, its silly for him not to.

2016 looks copy-pasted from a WoW expansion

A fucking spine fell off and blood all over. That's never happened to any other Godzilla with regular weapons let alone 2014 Godzilla

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Godzilla–Kong_(film_series)

>Legendary plans to create a shared cinematic franchise "centered around Monarch" [the secret government agency which debuted in Godzilla] and that "brings together Godzilla and Legendary’s King Kong in an ecosystem of other giant super-species, both classic and new".

they want that marvel dosh, son. No way they'll stop at 8 movies

This. The bunker bomb blasted out Shinzilla's backside. I think he healed it up anyways but still, if Legendbro got his hands on Shinzilla he would beat him to a pulp and tear him to shreds.

It's actually hard to say if Shin had a better atmobreath. Legendbro only ever uses his atomic breath on kaiju. Kaiju that are specifically evolved to fight him, no less.

I have to agree here. The movie wasn't very good anyways, so having sequel hooks and kaijuporn fanservice is pretty much all it has going for it. But I can at least respect them for trying. Whatever bullshit happened to ruin what was a decent flick like 30 minutes into the movie....

But wasn't the official story that they ONLY had the license to Godzilla and no other kaiju so that's why they had to create the Mutos?

>Who will win in King vs. Kong
Kong apparently has opposable thumbs.

Opposable thumbs allow for tool usage and architecture.

So it's rather clear that he has the unmatched potential to architect a world of pain all over the King of Monsters' candy ass.

>But wasn't the official story that they ONLY had the license to Godzilla and no other kaiju so that's why they had to create the Mutos?

Yes. Godzilla 2014 only had the rights to the Gman himself. They didn't even have the rights to the theme song.

As of right now I believe they have the rights to Mothra and King Ghidorah but someone might need to fact check me

>But wasn't the official story that they ONLY had the license to Godzilla and no other kaiju so that's why they had to create the Mutos?
they had a giant skelleton laying around, it could have been something like that

That was a Godzilla skeleton

This post made me laugh far more than it should have.

>Kong will never be a part of the Universal Monsters Cinematic Universe
>he will never carry Luke Evans as Vlad Tepes and Tom Cruise as The Archeologist into battle against ????? antagonist

will kong get his electric powers back?

Hopefully. I'd like to see some thunder punches

Monarch will put a giant Iron Man suit on him to fight Godzilla, infa 100%

>yfw Kong shoves a tree down Godzilla's gullet

>Kong with electric powers
Does the "black people with electrical powers" meme know no end?

...

Mechani-Kong is painfully underrated

the speech bubble turn this otherwise enjoyable image into pure reddit desu

For good reason

What's the tag line gonna be?

>War of two Kings
>What is a King to a God?
>THRILLA IN MANILA

...

The fuck is going on with this zilla? First he gets his tail stuck in a tower which falls into himself, now he trips face first into this fine display of japanese architeture, is all the radiation finally getting to him?

you realize being underrated for good reason makes no sense

Im forcing my brother to watch his first godzilla movie tonight.

Which one should we do? Idealy one with multiple monsters, a good introduction to the series, and a good amount of action, because he is a distracted asshole

Yeah, makes me think that I like dumb shit where monsters wrestle each other, you fucking dumb nigger.

GMK
>GOAT Godzilla suit
>multiple monsters
>good fights
>lots of lore

Not to mention one of the best OSTs
youtube.com/watch?v=0wfiKETWQfQ

for over-the-top monster fights and sci-fi camp Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah (1991) is a very good introduction

you said you don't care about /cgi/ brawls

Godzilla: Final Wars
Probably the only film he will like. You can also try "Destroy All Monsters", but it is very campy and probably not his.

It is no better than most of the other films, but its cinematography is vastly superior as it gives scale to how big the monsters are in comparision to humans and the like.

Will they get the rights?

>at least not in the way they have been portrayed since
learn to fucking read

no one cares about that shitty turtle
