Whos the biggest meme player in history??
Whos the biggest meme player in history??
Beckham wasn't really a meme. Yes, he was a huge celebrity, but he was very good in his prime.
He was never the best player in the world, but no one was better with set pieces, corners, and crosses than him.
Paul Scholes is the most overrated player in the history of football, so I'd go with him.

reminds me of lutz pfannenstiel, the only player to have played for a club in all six fifa confederations. he also managed an antarctica xi
This is the only correct answer
>I read the Guardian, check out my knowledge
He scored goals everywhere he went. Not really a meme
name a news site with a better football section than the guardian
Folha de São Paulo
Beckham was a runner-up in the Ballon d'Or. Other English players that came second: Lineker, Shearer.
>spics
If you mean that he was memed to be shit, then yes.
Rppmey
Beckham was a legend. Him and Giggs even made a duo of Cole-Yorke a lethal force.
My nom for the biggest meme player ever is Gascoigne.

Fuck off, Beckham was great.
It's just that the fame and self importance got to him and Fergie wasn't having it in his team.

How? His final season Beckham was in top form when played.
>United only got €35 million for Beckham
Woeful
Yes
>but no one was better with set pieces, corners, and crosses than him.
€35 million was a lot of money for a football transfer back in 2003, when it happened it was in the top 10 of most expensive transfers ever
And immediately began to decline at Madrid. Ferguson saw it coming, why else would he have sold a club and country legend?
Not for someone like Beckham, talented enough to play for any top team and already had a massive, profitable brand. There's a reason Barca threw 45 million at them.
Rooney's a strange one. There was a time when I thought he could have played in any outfield position and quickly become one of United's best players there. But complacency and a body type not suited to longevity have ruined him. He's awful now and with a fully fit squad shouldn't even make the bench of what's a pretty weak United side.
Juninho was better at free kicks, not at the things listed
Robinho, Ben Arfa, Depay, Balotelli, Quaresma
KSI singlehandedly ruined his life

I know Rooney is bad now but come on from 2004 - 2010 was a great player.
It's cause he plays for United, no one other than United fans will ever give him or pretty much any United player credit where it's due cause of their own bias/hatred/salt

wrong. his longball/cross accuracy was unmatched. back in the days of 4-4-2 with deeper widemen he was everything you wanted from a winger.

I agree, Rafa Marquez is such a failure, he was present in all of Mexico's later embarassments or even provoked them yet the press rode his dick all the time.

who else did this?
Literally him though
His tackling was appalling
Only cause they teased him about being ginger
So now meme means "overrated". Good to know.
You know remember Freddy Adu.
Chicharito is one huge meme
Fortunately most people in here stopped overrating him
But l guess it's still overhyped by chicanolards in the U.s.
Because he started to disrespect Ferguson and Ferguson's philosophy is to sell any player that thinks they are bigger than the club/manager. There's a big chapter in Ferguson's autobiography documenting their fall out.
Manchester United always sell cheap. They don't need the money.
Lampard also came second
1 post in and this thread is already children who are too young to have seen Beckham play. How old do you have to be for that, 16?

But he's a good player, just look at this season at Nice.
he's a player who generates memes, not a meme player
All of those quotes are made up
Winston Bogarde is def my favorite meme man. Aside from playing in the Ajax 94-95 squad with our Litmanen, he just shamelessly made bank by sitting on the bench and training with youth teams at like 30 for the most part of his career .
So Beckham was a hot Sigurdsson?
