I've been here since 2007 or 8 not sure, but yes it has always been porn/shitty threads/gore threads for as long as I can remember.

what it was way more of was collaboration. such as the whole thread works together to find someone's information or make a shitty art thing that they all draw on. my favorite was when everyone submitted one desktop icon drawn in Ms paint and somebody made software to replace every icon on your desktop and toolbar with the ms paint version. couldn't do that today, people would send viruses.

looking back I think what really killed Sup Forums is that the internet has grown so much that there are many more places to congregate and make memes now.
There's not any difference between Sup Forums 2012 and Sup Forums 2018 imo. The shift happened sometime 2007-2008 when Sup Forums became mainstream and Sup Forums in particular had a huge influx in traffic.

oldfag from 2006 here. It was different. Still mostly shit though but at least some sense of being in a secret club or something since Sup Forums in general was pretty underground back then. Lots of inside jokes and memes and a different tone in how people expressed themselves. I want to say that Sup Forumstards were smarter back then but I'm guessing it's just me who have grown up and become smarter myself or something. I stopped coming here in 2008-2009 and just check in sporadically to see if there's any good threads about weird subjects but there's mostly just porn and politics on here now. I go to /x/ mostly if I want to read about interesting weird stuff.
Create another Sup Forums outside of Sup Forums
I'm sure the whole Trump/Alt-Right thing brought a lot of people here too but there has been waves of influx before that. 2007 was probably the first real big one. Pretty sure I was a part of that influx myself altough I can't remember a specific reason to come here. Just that I had friends who talked about Sup Forums and word spread I guess.

The only board where I find some wit was Sup Forums. Every other board i've been on (not that I've seen much of Sup Forums) have seen any intelligence or real humour prevented by /r9k/ or Sup Forums shitposting.
