Sure the few times CGI was used doesn't look great but the rest of the film and the practical effects still hold up pretty well

no shit it aged badly eight years ago.

reminder only fellowship of the ring was any good.

You just KNOW the Weinsteins will release a special edition with updated graphics for their 20th anniversary

I think the Balrog is one of the best CGI creatures ever made

But the scene in question is from Fellowship of the Ring

Looks OK to me.

Guardians of the Galaxy was made in 2014 and I couldn't watch past the first 20 minutes because it looked campy and as if it was made in a small room in front of a green screen.

I honestly think the balrog still looks amazing

Filename says Two Towers

...

That looks like a set from the original Star Trek series LOL.

Just shows you know fuckall

Be thankful, the rest of the movie was fucking awful. One of the worst movies I've seen in my life. My girlfriend stopped about 30 minutes into it because it was so bad, and I wanted to as well, but I have this thing about watching movies to their end.

>girlfriend

What looks wrong with this?

Name a more memorable cgi monster than the Balrog.

Davy Jones

they own the rights to LOTR now? since when?

Miramax (Weinsteins) produced LOTR

it was the fucking flashback scene from when gandalf shows how he didn't die but became the white wizard. In the two towers.

>he didn't die
He did die.

yeah and he came back shut the fuck up nerd.

he did died tho

so this is the power of millenials, judging based on cgi power

Which is the only reason that plebian headset monkey scum thought it was any good in the first place.

It looks fine to me. I can't even tell what's supposed to be CGI besides obviously Big Balrog. Enlighten me.

It's ALL CGI. The whole thing was painted over with yellow computer gunk that makes it look like pre-remaster first season TNG now.

It looks like the video for 'A Trick in the Tail' by Genesis.

this guy is right he did die tho

How did we go from this...

...to this?

that shot is amazing though

That scene is from beginning of TT showing Gandalf falling

>because it looked campy
That was the point.

show me the quote from the book where it says "he died", in plain text.

Wrong. New line cinema produced it. Miramax turned them down when they found out Jackson wanted two films because they thought it could be done in one. Then when new line picked the movie up it was expanded to three.

*grabs her by the throat* here's your (You), now gtfo loser

what are you trying to say here?

it looks like you tried to replicate some old meme but failed horribly.

>objectively bad cgi
>"b-but that was intentional!!"

Does Anno /wearavoid/?

Like the Avatar CGI, it looks a lot better in motion.

damn... youre right.... bravo jackson.... bravo.....

It's aged better than most. It looks better than the shit you see in the MCU and DCEU anyway

>Like the Avatar CGI, it looks a lot better in motion.

Avatar looks like a video game, and it's really obvious it was made to milk the 3D gimmick as much as possible.

Watched the extended last weekend, pure eternal kino.

wtf I hate lotr now

He was rushed, and had no desire to make the Hobbit.
If he had gotten the time he had for the LotR it would have been good.

Is there any CGI that has "aged well" ?

That looks fucking great. Especially considering it was made in 2001. Get your fucking eyes checked faggot.

I was let down by it, as well. And likewise, I only finished it to say I watched it.

Avatar was a meme of its time, like Do the Bartman of the 90s

It'll never holds its own

I mean this one

It explains that he didn't have any prep time.

I actually feel bad for Jackson. A friend of mine works at Weta and he said the whole thing was a nightmare. He was working 16 hour days on Planet of the Apes towards the end and said even that was better than working on the Hobbit

"‘Gandalf the Grey set out with the Company, but he did not pass the borders of this land. Now tell us where he is; for I much desired to
speak with him again. But I cannot see him from afar, unless he comes within the fences of Lothlo´ rien: a grey mist is about him, and the ways of his feet and of his mind are hidden
from me.’ ‘Alas!’ said Aragorn. ‘Gandalf the Grey fell into shadow.
He remained in Moria and did not escape.’
At these words all the Elves in the hall cried aloud in grief and amazement."

"I have passed through fire and deep water, since we parted. I have forgotten much that I thought I knew, and learned again much that I
had forgotten."

Gandalf is an angel. He cannot die in any conventional sense. But ceasing to exist on this plain due to your body being destroyed sounds a lot like death to me.

Bluescreen work legitimately worse than 'Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough'.

>girlfriend

cuck

>0:38

Ripping off the T-Rex roar

If Gandalf was supposed to be an angel, then why didn't he have wings, like a Balrog?

Because he isn't a Judaeo-Christian angel.

This one's cgi actually aged better than you'd expect imo

Girlfriend? FUCK OUT OF HERE NORMIE CUNT

The fireworks scene was pretty bad, too.

Still a great movie

Agreed, not all the shots work but as a whole it does
