There's plenty of programs online you can download, if you're looking for a start. As far as recording, you'll absolutely need to put in money for a nice microphone. Other than that, you can do it with literally just any decent audio software program. Doesn't cost anything outside of that microphone (free trials and pirating is definitely an option for beginners)
