Album's sound is so 1:1 unique that literally nothing else sounds like it

which album

I hate this feel

litearlly ever album i ever like op, I agree. I feel the same way brother. I should go post about dicks on Sup Forums

bo en

I was thinking of a different album, but this gem right here is a prime example tbqh

this feel follows me everywhere

...

i have yet to find any great analogue to this outside of MIA. but even then its only slightly overlapping, and mia is so unique as well the comparison is shallow at best

...

>(inexperienced) pop engineer + atmospheric goth-punk = god-tier tunes:

Will never forget the first time I heard this, easily his peak.

The first two Mercury Rev albums

Spiderland

you find them so unique to not be compared to the flaming lips stuff

Breaks my fucking heart.

Truckfighters - Gravity X
Orange Goblin - Time Traveling Blues

And fucking this

Fantastic rec thread op you're raking em in

:'(

Fuck it, their entire discog is tenouttaten

this album is perfection and I haven't heard anything like it.

this also comes to mind

Whats the album?

I mean, they're clearly a little similar to The Flaming Lips, and some Spiritualized, and maybe some American shoegaze from around the time, but the production on those Rev albums is ungodly
Nothing sounds quite like Yerself and Boces

Sweet Trip & most of AnCo's noisy shit

>Santogold
Damn, that's a name I haven't heard in awhile.

Isn't that album basically just New Wave with some punk and reggae influences?

yep but haven't found anyone combining them in such a complete package. why i consider MIA to be closest. neither are groundbreaking but both have created an aesthetic that puts them in their own lane

Loveless.
It's great.

These guys remind me a lot of rites of spring, but they're kind of a lot less intense and with a female vocalist

Such a shame

Culprate - Whispers

this

god this is the one for me. nothing even remotely similar

>Unique music recs

Why is this a bad thing faggot?

2bh listening to music you didn't make yourself is basically spoonfeeding

just look up lo-fi hip hop

tfw is too unique

Have never heard a metal album with a similar atmosphere to this

that isn't similar though

They still don't have that thing Rites has which nobody else has sadly. Closest thing I know lyrically would honestly have to be NMH

Silverchair had that winding sound that no other band has. Its a damm shame they abandoned it to make shitty pop music.

>album's sound is so 1:1 unique that literally nothing else sounds like it
This is the fucking definition of unique. There aren't different types of uniqueness, you are either unique or you aren't.

"I woke up this morning, with a piece of my past caught in my throat. And then i choked."

Is Frogstomp any good?

Yes. Damm fine album

hmmm try this

You gotta be kidding. There's literally dozens of albums like this.

Thank you :D

Maybe I'm just a pleb though.

& This Heat

theres lots of albums that have twinkly guitars or try to generally ape the style of this album, but they all end up sounding very similar and are generally forgettable

known of them have the rough, optimistic charm and innocence of algernon cadwallader

...

ahuhuhu huhu ahuhuhu

...

not even the puppets could recreate it. the following album is the closest thing but even then it's way different

...

except cap n jazz, y'know.. the band they're are ripping off

The closest thing I've found to this is Bright Channel - s/t

Give me albums simulair to this

More specifically, the song Two Shoes

No other album has guitars that sound like this

Its all in the layering, but the end product is intoxicating

Also anything by Colin Stetson

Sounds like any Chicago hip hop.

Such as?

nah, I mean it's not the most out there thing, but it is pretty unique. The Chemistry of Common Life is even better.

any r&b, ever. It's a great album, really well produced too, but it's nothing new.

It's just rnb

Ok, there's a handful of albums with similar sounds, but is there one with such tight songwriting?

This one here

>ask for recommendations to the contrary
>get nothing

No album will ever top this. It feels so youthful and experimental but still goes hard. Too bad they split up.

is that penis on the cover?

Portishead - Dummy

...

sigh

As much as I like Keith's highly technical arrangements on later albums, the sheer heaviness of this is something I wish ELP experimented with more. The Barbarian and Knife Edge are a couple of my flat out favorite tracks ever, and they never really made anything quite the same.

>The Chemistry of Common Life is even better.
I disagree, but to each his own. I also thought Hidden World was almost as good as David Comes to Life. I wish there were more music similar to those albums. I need more melodic, guitar-driven punk with some experimentation in the song-writing and thoughtful, poetic lyrics.

>has never heard of RnB
uninstall your life

>Everything is either too ambient Or too Pop-RNB
>No one gets the balance right like him

>implying

it's definitely very heavily rnb influenced, but there's something more. it mixes pop, indie rock, hiphop, ambient to create this interesting blend. is right

Anyone else on Sup Forums heard this?
