hurry up with the story

is it working op?

Oh this is the end whoops basiclly I still can't get it to fucking work

...

Why do you neckbeards insist on collecting older games? Pretty much every game made before 2007 is garbage at this point outside of a select few gems (main line Mario games, Chrono Trigger, etc) and almost all of these have been ported to one modern platform or another.

It's on a newer tv, it turns on but no display, if anybody knows what to do before I go to my game shop (not game stop) let me know

Clean the fucking ports for each thing and then plug it in normally, its even color coded.

>be op
>be born in 2000+
>never owned old system
>has no clue what to do with av cables
You're better off using an emu, you retard

Lol I'd say the same thing about majority of the games made after 2007. You sound like a fucking casual.

>check that it's not an international unit built for different power systems
>check that the light on the N64 lights up: if not, it's the power supply
>check with multiple games, try reseating them multiple times
>check tv input with known good console to make sure the audio/video input on it is set correctly and working

after that you either have to try a different AV adapter or you have to open the N64 to look for shit that's wrong.

I have a ton of other older systems that work on the tv aswell, might be the av cords I'll have to see

Take a picture of your shit. Otherwise we can't help you. Why am I helping you?

It turns on, nothing wrong with power, again might be the cords or internal I'll have to see

my muscle memory from when I was a kid only works on the actual console. using USB imitation controllers and emulators just doesn't work, I dont know why. it looks the same but I can clock super mario 1 effortlessly on my NES but cant on the computer.

>disclaimer: have not tried the nintendo-branded mini's yet

90% of everything is shit, but even most of the "good" games made before 2007 are shit by today's standards.

OP, just download the Dolphin emulator and the Melee ROM. Sell your classic game collection and use the money on something worth your time.

People who collect old games are mostly sad neckbeards desperately trying to relive their childhoods when they weren't such gigantic losers.

And I've been gaming since 1990.

I'll take a pic of the system

if you know somebody else with an n64 try to just take your console over to his place so you can try it on a known good TV with known good cartridges.

if you open it up, a quick check that nothing is loose or covered in old semen, no obvious burn marks or bulging capacitors should do the job.

>shit by today's standards
Only in the graphical department. Stories were much better back then. They were more focused and stylized. Now they churn out crap to appeal to the most people possible.

System is on the top right and I've tried all the different component and etc options

OP, come to my house and play.
i don't have an 64, but we'll pretend OK?

you know you have to have a cartridge in there for it to start up? no output if it doesn't have one

>Here's your controller bro

Right whoops, I have before and it still doesn't work however

Here's an updated photo my bad lads

Same shit happened to me. I thought I'd gotten scammed when I payed like 20 bucks for one on Ebay. It didn't show any picture so I left it there collecting dust for like a year. Long story short check you got the jumper pak

It would still give a logo or something.

Op's shit is retarded. Probably has digital inputs on his tv

>golden axe
>double dragon
>streets of rage
>Crew ball
>James pond
>zool
>cool spot
>T2 mega dive
>altered beast
>shinobi
>kid chameleon
>toe jam and and Earl
>decap attack
>Rock and roll racers
All God teir

I did try that, but I'll try it again

Was going to ask if op has the expansion pack. Need that for a number of the later games.

make sure the cartridge is clean and the socket you're plugging it into is as well. if it doesn't register the cartridge properly, it still doesn't turn on - and these things have had time to get dusty.

if you use any cleaner on it make sure its something like isopropyl

it doesn't. black screen unless it's happy there's a game there.

Does an analog switcher not work?

No master system or mega drive the fucks wrong with you son

That would have honestly been a better design for the controller. What fucking mutant did they design the original controller for?

I would pay money to play official brand new SNES nintendo64 consoles and games. Cartridge graphics and controllers.

Why do they not repeat zelda Mario and zombies ate my neighbors?

Just pick up where you left off. Bulk temples levels worlds...

Its good. Bulk it so I can open unwrap another one up play it and discard it. 2 more new games. Same shit.

also: make sure the console and cartridge are both from the same geographic zone. cant put an EU Cartridge in a US console.

I know as I read some stuff online about how the 64 doesn't like newer tv models, however I have much older systems running on this tv

Clean your damn PS2.

I do have a genesis thank you sir

They are the same

Did you check it's placed correctly?

I have tried it many times but sadly nothing.

Ya I should lul

sorry user but i keked

Np, got all this stuff used and for abit cheaper

>ironically owning the giant bulky ps2
come on dude why didnt you get the slim ps2 that thing is sexy and doesnt catch on fire.

do you own a dream cast

I like the look more and I got it for a hella cheap price

Yes, it's very nice. Got sonic adventure and a couple other games

>be me playing games with my bro
>bro asks for his controller
>"here it is bro, catch!"
>controller comes back to me
>mfw can't play with my bro anymore

Maybe bad AV cable? Got any spares laying around you could try?

No but I am going to take it to my game shop (not game stop fuck those guys) and see what they say, I trust them if I can't figure out something.

Well I hope they figure it out for you OP, I miss playing classics

The emulation is better, and it's easier to softmod.

Other than some calling me a retard, which I expected, because they assumed I didn't know what to do with av cables (and then stayed quite after i showed my av switch box), you guys have helped point some things out and hopefully I can get this fixed myself or at my game store. Thanks Sup Forums.

I like physical stuff and it's the sorta collecting part I really like.

I'm talking about the fat PS2's PS1 emulation. I should have been more clear.

Yo unplug and plug back in the expansion pack bit.

My N64 doesn’t work periodically when left off for prolonged periods, seems the expansion pack is the culprit.

Ah I see, well I still like to collect those. I am gonna emulate some Japanese games however from the older PlayStation titles I'm sure.

>his tv can handle 240p
get a crt or another modern tv that can do at least 480i

Someone did point that out but I did try it, I will try it again tho.

I heard I can get converters but I have older consoles than this that run fine on the HDTV.

Legit man keep trying to clean it out. I can almost guarantee that’s the issue.

I had to fuck around with my jumper pack for like an hour. Kept trying different shit, I was so sure it was the cords, and then miraculously yanked out the expansion pack one more time, slammed that bitch in cause I was pissed, and... voila — Starcraft 64 booted up

I have faith in you OP!

I will do that, sounds about right to my situation.

welp then its not the tv if you can get the ps1 working.

Either it's the cords, internal system or the pak, I'll have to see, however I'm going to do this all tommorow, as it's late and been a busy day. All of you can have faith that this n64 will be playing some games very soon.

What killed me was I wasn’t even getting that classic “flick” of white across the screen when I’d hit the power, it just sat at “no signal”.

Made zero sense for it to be anything except the AV cable as far as I was concerned, right up until it turned out to be the expansion pack.

Good luck tomorrow OP, I’m off to bed!

Thank you, I schleep

Every cartridge says not to blow into it but best believe that shit cures it. They're everlasting, anyway.
I love still playing smash 64 on a CRT for that crisp feel. Sometimes it lags but it's better than emulation.

Look into getting an Everdrive 64: N64 cartridge that can hold an SD card aka all games and even modded games on the real system.

It's worth every penny, but you should look into flashcarts further if you plan buy more in the future.

Where can I find a safe 5V? I haven't bought any yet but if I ever do, I want what's safe.
