Neither.

What would you suggest then?

Jim who?
JDs is crap

>never had whisky
>wants to have some begginers whisky so he can get into it
This is some deep faggotry we got goin on here

Those aren't for "getting into whiskey" they are for getting drunk cheap

Ok, dude.
Then what's a decent intro whisky?

You Drink It

If you live in California Arizona or Washington go to bevmo

Tullamore dew and Jameson are legit and not expensive

Buffalo Trace is an easy start

Kansas, sadly

most alchohol tastes like nail polish from experience, if you're going to start with anything you're better off with a flavored wiskey between the two, something like cinnamon or vanilla, just depends on how you like it tbh

Whisky professional here

Jack daniels is overrated piss id highly recommend jim beam if it’s your first time, beautiful taste and a strong kick, goes great with a mixer with coke and a squeeze of lemon

Would also recommend disaronno

W.L. Wellers special reserve

Thanks for the actual responses
Would some flavored crown royal be good?

Jim and Jack are bourbon
Whisky with no E refers to Scotch
Whiskey with an E is irish whiskey
Disaronno is an amaretto almond liqueur

you're an Idiot

Also OP, try jameson

havent tried it yet tbh, jim bean vanilla is good doe

If you want to get into whisk(e)y), buy a bottle of Jameson, and see how you like it. If you want more sweet, more oak, try bourbon (four roses, wild turkey[preferably101]). If you want something a bit spicier, more bitter, try rye (Crown Royal). If you want something more golden and smokey, experiment with scotch(I happen to like Glenfiddich 12, but I know some people are very vocal about it being bad).

Most important rule of whisk(e)y is to just buy the shit you like and ignore the snobs.

Jim Beam if straight, Jack Daniels if making drinks

OP here, guess I'll pick up some Jameson and Jim Beam this weekend. Thanks for the help, boys.

I only drink whiskey straight and this is a really easy one to start with.

get urself some of this

both jim beam and jack d are trash

Also I'm saving this thread for future reference.

Knob Creek straight rye is phenomenal

Ardbeg

Jim beam is fucking mash trash. Jack is fine.. Don't drink beam. Period.

Seriously bourbun tastes like roasted shit.. Scotch or Irish whiskey is 1000x better. Paddys, Celtic Crossing, Powers, Red Label (or any of the labels, blue, green ect), Jameson

Michter's American Whiskey

Bourbon is whiskey tho?
(not same user)

It's around 50 bucks, 80 proof, effete swill

Benchmark is like 16 for a handle, so it's good for getting drunk cheap, but it tastes totally tolerable too.

Made by Jim Beam/Suntory

Bourbon is a 51+% distilled corn spirit aged in new charred oak barrels, in america.

Counts as whiskey, spelled with the e.

51+% corn I should say, just to make that a bit more clean.

Hahahah yeah

I was a Makers Mark person, then I tried Tin Cup.

Jack is a sour mash. It's not from Kentucky so it's not bourbon.

Jim black or blue. No ice, just sip. The extra 4 dollars is worth it.

Jameson was my gateway choice because it's pretty easy to drink.

Jim Beam has a honey whiskey that is fucking excellent in a coffee.

refer to ---> bourbon has nothing to do with location

Fucking this. Also, Bulleit if poorfag.

...

95% of bourbon is from Kentucky. In either case Jack Daniels is trash mountain juice.

>Bulleit

Frontier plain rocks, especially at the price

Nigga that's like a $70 bottle. I ain't made of money

Bulleit Rye is legitimately good for cheap liquor

I will second Basil Hayden's

Nikka Japanese whisky is good too. Check that out.

...

Wild turkey mixes great with coke. Cheap too

...

johnnie walker black

Too expensive. Scotch is too harsh for a newb

>$70
>Thinks that's expensive
Probably best sticking to Boone's Farm

I've tried all the low priced tiers and that my friend is the top of that tier.

They're both shit tier but at least JD is palatable. Jim B is fucking disgusting. Try get Jameson

thewhiskyexchange.com/p/8917/suntory-hakushu-18-year-old

literally the finest whisky I have ever bought I have about 1/5 of the bottle left and I have never once regretted the money I spent on it.

Both are liw end burbons however not bad for the money. Makers Mark is my first choice

Dont be a fag and use a mixer wuth expensive burbon....a splash if water is all you need if you cant handle it on the rocks. If you use a mixer, it really diesnt matter

Jack Daniels. Even better get some Gentleman Jack.

This and water. Done.

Avoid flavored liquors all together, especially whiskey. Jack is gross and Jim Beam is cheap and tastes like it.
If you want American, try Buffalo Trace or Four Roses. They are both smooth enough for a beginner and not too expensive. Eagle Rare is a good option too.
If you want Irish, Jameson is a good place to start. But, the more into whiskey you get, the more you will realize it isn’t that good. Move up to Red Breast when you’re ready.
For single malt Scotch, start with Dalwhinnie or anything from the highlands. They are much lighter in in body and a good intro for the beginner. Johnnie Walker is a blend. Red is okay, black is slightly better and blue really is good but too expensive.

From someone who drinks bourbon everyday, try the Evan Williams black label. Not the best; but a good, low cost, well balanced bourbon. Better than many that cost twice the amount.

Buffalo trace and four roses are good suggestions

Glen Moray is also a good cheap Scotch

Hell yeah ive been drunk for 3 days!!!

Thats bourbon

WATER WHAT ARE YOU A GODDAMN BITCH

im aware but i was referring to beams white label

Alcoholanon here. Fuck all these nigger faggots. This is the whiskey you want user.

Your extra chromosome is preventing you from seeing your Dunnin-Kruger syndrome dipshit

Fkin H20

Had them both and was disappointed, they are both 30-40$ a fifth and not worth it, try white label, its much better and and cheaper too

Bulliet rye. Cheaper. 100% better than that swill.

Old Crow

Hear, hear.

That's what General Grant drank.
