Why do so many people say this movie is "So bad it's good"?
Is it because normies are so unused to counter culture films, or films that are deliberately subversive or exist outside of what would fall under the umbrella of a "normal" movie?
The movie is a serviceable homage to a foregone era of science fiction films. It celebrates sexual deviancy, sure. But it's competently made. Well shot. Had good framing and editing. The performances are good. The songs are good. The special effects do their job. There's nothing "bad" about this movie. Everyone did their job competently. Are people just really so low information that they don't understand the difference between a bad movie and a b movie?
I've never heard anyone call this movie "so bad it's good", but I think the sentiment comes from the idea that anything that isn't a mainstream movie from the current era = bad. I hate when technically proficient genre films from the 50s and 60s get dismissed as "haha they're so cheesy and bad!" when they're really just old. Close-minded people annoy me more than any others when it comes to film.
John Collins
John Waters and other transgressive filmmakers / artists still trigger young reactionary right wingers today such as basically it's flamboyant bait designed to get them to go "durrrr you guys are degenerate"
Landon Morales
There's nothing inherently leftist about it. Being able to do whatever shit you want behind your gated house inside of a castle with closed doors with a bunch of weird eccentric but consenting individuals is a classical liberal virtue that contemporary leftists and right wingers generally have.
If anything leftists would probably take some sort of issue with the fact that they weren't more inclusive of other races or they weren't redistributing their wealth or it wasn't an equal opportunity orgy or that they demonise transsexuals as being from another galaxy or they conflate gender identity with sexuality or that they treated Dr Scott in an ableist fashion or something.
Rocky Horror Picture Show is conservativekino.
Tyler Martinez
rocky horror is well made, though. the cinematography and set design for that budget is wild

Are you conflating Marxism with tumblr meme liberalism again? The redistribution of wealth and workers seizing the production of the state don't have anything to do with "check xir privilege I'm a rich white girl pretending to be otherkin"
Jaxon Walker
Now I have to hear sweet transvestite again, thank you.
Liam Rogers
I liked it, it was camp and fun, but I'm also an actual homo
Owen Phillips
Normies can't handle it.
Daniel Wilson
Except for the fact that social justice and socialism go hand in hand.
Marxism is the foundation by which social justice warriors apply to social groups in order to get their progressive stack. They identify people with less. They identify people with more. They then make the claim that those with less are victims and those with more are the perpetrators. This is why the vast, vast, vast majority of socialists you see around are young people doing art degrees living in major cities who also support social justice causes. It's not a conflation in the sense that anyone is suggesting that social justice and socialism are the same, but they both correlate with regressive leftism. Redistribution of societal power through breaking down of systems and patriarchy is marxist policy on a social scale.
Easton Johnson
Not true. They think it's bigoted and transphobic.
LESSSSSSS DOOOO THE TIIIIIIIIME WAAAAAAAARP AGAAAAAAAAAIN

>leftist Lolno. The whole movie is about American counter cultures based around consuming market goods. At best it's American """""""leftism"""""".".
Chase Clark
>normie brain this isn't what I'm used to, must be bad (but this is enjoyable on an intuitive level I can't explain)... SO BAD IT'S GOOD
who cares? Phantom of the Paradise is better
Jaxson Brown
The problem with this is that they don't. Real life leftists on tumblr and in the real world tend to love Rocky Horror, while many real world conservatives are offended by it.

I'll have you know I'm handsome and bisexual, missy.

I'm a bit confused because I really enjoyed this movie when I watched it. I had a thing for Barry Botswick and really liked the scene with the compromising position scene. Tim Curry's character made me feel confused about my sexuality.
Grayson Gonzalez
It was okay. My mom loves it, I never really cared too much. However it seems to be a fucking normie god for all the tumblrite whales and feminist sluts, sadly.
Brayden Martin
Well it's kind of supposed to come off that way. It's deliberately a campy b-movie. Same can be said about lots of stuff, Evil Dead is considered a b-movie but it's not badly made, just cheesy on purpose.
