wtf
No, not really.
That sounds like Swans’ EP which is no-wave.
there's no guitar and it isn't as densely layered in sound, so no not really.
i always thought this song had a bit of shoegaziness at the end. run like hell kinda does too but in a more U2 sounding way
Only “Outdoor Miner”, but that album and 154 were both massive influences on shoegaze
>there’s no guitar
Which is why I said sonically.
>isn’t as densely layered
You’re right about some of the songs, but Cheree and Keep Your Dreams (Reissue) remind me of Slowdive.

Literally the opposite of shoegaze. Shoegaze is maximalistic, Suicide is minimalist synth. I know this thread is a joke though.
>ITT: people who don’t understand the word sonically
Nothing really sounded like shoegaze (by which I mean MBV). Saying shoegaze was 60s revivalists was somewhat offpoint, even if they were in a sense psych bands and liked the 60s. Even the type of jangly Byrds-y indie shoegaze partly grew out of didn't sound like actual 60s psych.
But if I had to compare certain aspects of shoegaze to certain touchstones it would be:
1. melodically something more akin to Phil Spector pop
2. the slightest touch of peak-bliss psych era utopian vibe, like more of the sunshine pop kind of bliss
3. but as far as psychedelicness I'd compare it more, in addition to Spector's 'wall of sound', to NY drone minimalism like La Monte Young
4. so obviously most of all as far as 60s bands to Velvet Underground in that sense of pop melodies plus a drone psychedelia rather than a noodly psychedelia (which drug-wise is more of an opiate sound than an acid sound)
5. and then a bit of Suicide again with that pop formula plus droning noise that's somewhere between ugly and beautiful and nostalgic

Glenn Branca - The Ascension
Maybe "Cheree", but that's it. And even that was based off of a lot of dreamy rock'n'roll and bubblegum pop from the 1950s.
Brian Eno created shoegaze in 1973/1974
