SAW KINO IS COMING

>directed by spierg brothers (daybreakers, predestination)
>longest shoot of any saw film (46 days)
>tobin bell is returning
>one trap will involve victims driving a car and four motorbikes (3 of which will crash) in an underground warehouse, spike strips involved
>jigsaw's corpse is dug up and stolen
>charlie clouser returning to do the score
>donna evans will return and die in a trap
Who /hyped/ here?

From what I have heard it is kind of a sequel/reboot.

It cracks me up how inconsequential Tobin Bell's death was.

It seems as if they'll be trying to distance themselves from the original series. There will be returning characters and a few references to events from the first seven films but not in a way that you'll have to watch them to understand what is happening. For example when Donna Evans returns to die in a trap it wont matter to new viewers who she is, they can just accept her as a newcomer to the series, wont make any difference.

i loved all the saw movies, they're my guilty pleasure so fuck yeah i'm hyped

I enjoyed 1 through 6 but hated 7. This'll probably be crap as well.

Same.

7 wouldn't have been anywhere near as bad if the blood wasn't bright pink.

Saw 1 was good, but all of the shit you listed is taking the things the sequels fucked up and doubling down on it. So how am I supposed to get hyped?

Me too

I'm not the only one that ranks Saw 5 in the top 3, right?

Saw 5 is patrician as fuck. Comfy noir kino.

It's one of the lowest rated in the franchise but I thought the traps the 5 people had to work through were pretty good and the Hoffman/Strahm storyline was great. Ending was maximum hype.

Strahm was a great protagonist, I thought it was a mistake killing him off so soon, they should've kept him alive for the final movie at least, try to build him up as the one to take down Hoffman. Instead they killed him off in 5, killed off the few minor detective characters left alive in 6, leaving us with no one to give a fuck about in 7. Having said that his death scene is excellent, expertly directed, edited and choreographed. Hoffman is a GOAT villain too, so the flashbacks revealing his backstory were great.

My problem with the trap in the sewers is the second game where they had to smash the jars to access the bomb shelters. Way too clear they could fit multiple people in each shelter. Rest was fine though.

People actually like the saw films?

They're just gratuitous after 1+2, I watched 1, 2, 3 and 4 in a row on halloween a few years ago and by the end I really wasn't enjoying them much at all.

>Way too clear they could fit multiple people in each shelter.
True, but the fact that they were in a game in the first place means they probably don't think/care too much about other people.

1 > 3 >>>>> 6 >>>> 4> 2 >>> 5 >>> 7

Not perfect movies, clearly, but they're fun and made with love. Lovable characters to root for, the traps are awesome and the storyline, while convoluted as fuck is a blast to follow along with. I love how they all intertwine and answer mysteries set out from previous movies.

Well 4 was almost complete shit. I love the Saw franchise, compared to other long running horror series like Friday 13th and Nightmare on Elm Street they're practically masterpieces. Even though they're clearly made up on the spot and fall flat from time to time, they at least try to tell an ongoing story and do a decent job. They almost always deliver a killer ending too, they deserve some credit even if they are just torture porn.

I think they're hard to hate like said. They're like the horror version of the Fast & Furious movies, the people making them know why the audience likes them and have fun creating that. They also treat the audience with enough respect to put effort into it rather than fill the entire screen with shit CGI.

1 > 2 > 3 > 6 > 4 > 5 >>>> 7

Saw movies are fun and if you don't like them you're a nerd

the first one is probably the worst for replay value due to how claustrophobic it is.

1 > 6 > 5 >>> 3 > 2 >>>>>>>>>>>>> 4=7

>6 & 5 that high
>being marked that much higher than 2 & 3

Nigga put down that crack pipe.

Nah man, 3 is objective pleb filter, so you're worng

Shut it, Spongebob.

What happens in 3 outside of Jigsaw dying? I get mixed up because I just remember the twist to 4 being that they're at the same time.

3 was shit.

Doctor lady has to keep Jigsaw alive with a collar bomb while Amanda hates her.
I mean, it's great melodrama, and the traps (basically a house of tests) for Jeff are the most inventive in the franchise.
The big twist is that Jeff and lady doctor are married, and final trap for Jeff is the room Jigsaw is being held, so it was a tests for Amanda to not mess with lady doctor. It was kind of neat.

I need to rewatch them, it's been a few years now. 3 had the naked woman in a freezing room and 4 was a black guy running around, right?

Yes.

Well at least I'm confident 4 was shit.

Did jigsaw not die in 4? What where 5,6 and 7 even about

Jigsaw had a couple of people working for him to replace him if he died.
